As the taillights of the Impala faded into the gloomy night, the Wanderer stepped back from the open doors of the asylum and threw her arms out wide. Tilting her head back, she shut her eyes and let the walls of the former mental hospital speak to her.
The place had seen its share of suffering, pain and agony in the years it had been open. There were those who were truly insane, locked in delusional prisons by their malfunctioning minds. Then there were those who weren't crazy, but put there because they were an inconvenience to scheming relatives or unfaithful spouses. Employees were also caught here, murdered in patient uprisings or dying from some communicable disease passed on from the very people they were trying to cure. The spirits of the dead twisted among the emotions trapped, crawling along the Wanderer's skin and whispering to her in their anguished voices.
Bringing her hands together, the Wanderer brought the heavy wooden doors slamming to a close. Turning around, she walked further into the main building, the shadows writhing and twisting behind her as she moved. The voices grew in volume until it was an almost unbearable clamor and she smiled, drinking in the horrible things they told her.
Stopping, she threw her arms out again and closed her eyes, welcoming in all of the darkness that had gathered. It flowed over her and through her, filling her black heart with something close to joy and sending her power surging. Drawing her hands together, she fisted them against her chest and took a deep breath, filling her lungs as much as possible. Darkness continued to pour into the void that a soul would have normally filled. Opening her mouth, she began to chant in Aramaic before switching to Latin.
The wriggling shadows began to scream, the essences and trapped spirits merging as one entity. Slowly, she stretched her hands away from her body and held her hands out, palm up. Black tendrils snaked down her arms and flowed toward the floor, twisting together to form a leg. Slowly, the channeled energy had taken on the shape of a man, a hulk of a thing that had burning pits for eyes and a mouth. It knelt before the Wanderer and she opened eyes gone as black and cold as a snake's.
"Time to find the Winchesters," she murmured and began to laugh.

Sam had settled gratefully onto one of the lumpy beds in their hotel room, leaving an agitated Dean pacing the room. Throwing an arm across his eyes, Sam tried to will himself to sleep. He was utterly exhausted, both emotionally and physically, but slumber eluded him. It was the woman, the one wearing the white blouse and black leather pants, the one who had tried to seduce King. King was another annoyance all his own. Judging from Dean's reaction, the elder Winchester had a little crush of his own on their new female companion.
The thought nearly made Sam smile, but he decided he was just too damned tired. Finally, his overworked mind gradually began to settle down and he drifted off. He found himself at a huge outlet shopping mall. Torn and broken bodies were strewn across the floor in front of him, his sneakers sliding in pools of blood. The place was eerily quiet and he tightened his grip on the shot gun in his hands. Walking was tricky with the amount of gore on the tiled floor and he moved carefully, sliding here and there. He didn't feel sick or outraged by the carnage, but rather numb. Completely and utterly numb. The woman was behind it.
The corridor Sam was in opened into a central court, a huge rendering of Ben Franklin's face leering down at him. Out of the corner of his eye, Sam saw something move and he turned toward it, bringing the shot gun up to his shoulder.
"Now, now, pretty boy," a voice said in his ear. Warm breath tickled his neck as a pair of arms wrapped around him from behind. "Jumping at shadows, are we?"
Spinning, Sam stumbled back from the woman and nearly fell ass first into a puddle of blood and entrails. "You did this," Sam said, his voice low.
The woman looked around and smiled slightly, like an artist basking in praise for his work. "You could say that, though I had a bit of a help from a friend of mine." She looked at him and smiled brightly, a gesture that made him shudder. "You may call me the Wanderer, Samuel Winchester."
"How-how do you know my name?"
The Wanderer moved closer to him, causing him to back up into a potted palm tree. He sat down on the lip of the pot when he had nowhere left to go. "I know all about you and your brother Dean, Samuel. You've got quite the reputation in the circles I travel in." The Wanderer effortlessly took the shot gun from Sam's hands before straddling his lap.
Sam tried to move away from her, his skin crawling as she slid her hands over his chest. "Get away from me."
The Wanderer's eyes narrowed and her smile turned coy. "From the feel of things, you're rather enjoying this." To emphasize her point, she wriggled her hips a little, drawing a gasp from Sam. Though everything in his mind and heart rebelled against the creature in his lap, a certain portion of his anatomy wasn't heeding the danger flags raised.
"Is that all you think about? Sex?" he managed, trying to turn his head as she moved in for a kiss.
The Wanderer laughed, catching his face in her hands. "Of course not! There's greed, sloth, wrath, envy, vanity...So many of the sins to choose from and an eternity to play with them!"
Sam tried to get away from her again and the Wanderer's grip on his face tightened, her nails digging in to hold him in place. He cried out in pain, blood streaming down the sides of his face. "Oh, I'm going to have much fun with you and your brother," she purred, her eyes turning black. "I'm going to have a go with your little girl friend and make you watch. If you enjoy it enough, I may let you live."
Sam woke with a scream, grabbing his face where the Wanderer had been holding him. Dean sat at the room's table, cleaning their guns. He gave his younger brother a concerned look, his eyebrows arching. "She's heading for a mall," Sam said, wiping blood away from his nose.

Hand gripped the door, slamming it harder than intended as they all piled out. It didn’t' take a rocket scientist to see that Alex and Hannibal were going to have to go off somewhere and talk, and Dean silently gave his leave, entering the hotel room with Sam. The younger Winchester might have wanted sleep, but that was the last thing Dean had on his mind. Insomnia was his crux. Sam might have had the nightmares, that didn't mean Dean didn't have his share. It was part of the reason he didn’t sleep. It was just easier to live on fumes then suffer the torture of reliving the horrors his mind made manifest while he dreamt.
Glancing over to his brother in the other bed Dean held back the things he wanted to talk to him about. It would be harder in the end to let go of what he was feeling for Alex if he vocalized it. Talking about shit like that made it real. He turned away, letting Sam doze off if he wanted. This was something he had to deal with on his own terms. She was her own woman, and someone he barely knew at that. Sure they'd had a very deep conversation at the bar the other night, but Dean wasn't about to fool himself into thinking that was anything but hunter-shop-talk. They lived dichotomous lives. He reminded himself.
Reaching for the remote control that was screwed down onto the bedside table, Dean flicked on the television. Anything was better than imagining what was going on in the ext room over. The glow of the set illuminated his features, showing a man that was in desperate need for a shave, who seemed tired beyond his years. His mind turned to the job they were on, the mysterious woman that had held their team in jeopardy at the gates of the long abandoned asylum. Was this the reason their father had sent them those coordinates, or had it been simply chance? Paging through the weathered journal Dean scoured it for anything that would give him insight but it was hard to make sense of everything there. His dad wasn't exactly the most organized when it came to note taking. Then again this journal wasn't meant for outside eyes, so to John, it likely made perfect the chronicles of his past.
Dean watched in mild amusement to the flicker on the screen.
-- Mulder: "Anyway, skipping ahead…" Scully: "Why skip ahead? What happened then?" she paused "Mulder? You shot out the tires… and what then?" The scene cut from the agents talking in Mulder's office to the Rolling Acres RV Camp; A motor home going full speed in circles, in reverse. Mulder and the local Sheriff fire at the tires. Mulder (in a voiceover as he continues to explain his side of the story): "Okay, here's something you may not know: Shooting out the tires on a runaway RV is a lot harder than it looks." --
The scream from his brother's bedside jolted him to alertness as he crossed the room. His brow furrowed with concern, looking over his sibling as he spoke. "Let's go."

Other than Han's phone call, the ride was fairly silent. Even with music playing there seemed to be this tension in the air. One would have to be naive not to notice it. The arrival at the hotel had been much needed. Trying to ease whatever situation they were finding themselves in. Long drawn breath pulled from her full lips as she exited the Impala, heading towards the room she'd shared the night before with the Winchester brothers, but a look everyone knew there was some things hanging in the air that needed to be said. Backing away Alex fought the urge to have a cigarette and turned looking towards King. Sometimes he never ceased to amaze her, having already booked a room for himself. Eyes looked towards Dean and Sam as they entered the room closing the door after them.
Internally she could still remember the night she'd left. Not much was said then either. Perhaps it wasn't her style, or she just never learned how to say goodbye, or couldn't. She'd tried to explain the best way she could to Hannibal that she had to go on her own. Her vision quest had to be done that way. She had to keep herself away from anything she knew and anyone she cared for. It was the only way she could. Shaking her Indian heritage away from her thoughts she followed after King, catching the door before it shut. "What the hell was that back there?" Voice burst towards the man, though she wasn't one to talk. Byberry had held her completely captivated. Perhaps it was a flair of jealousy. That he'd seemed to enjoy what had been going on. What that woman had been doing to him. Arms crossed over her chest for a moment in a huff. She wasn't going to wait for that non-chalant answer that was hanging on the tip of his tongue.
Arms uncrossed as she held up a finger to him. A sign from habit when she didn't want to hear it. From crossed the floor looking up at him. "Just because you're back, doesn't mean things can be the way they used to. Things have changed." Weight shifted as chocolate tresses shook once again. Had they really though? It was hard to be so close to him again, to see him, touch him. She never really forgot who he was. Lips pursed as her head hung slightly. Chest rose with breath as voice fell past her lips again. "...I'm sorry...I should have told you it was something I needed to do alone. You pulled away first King." Blue eyes shot up at the man just before her. Swallowing Alex shifted again, slender digits closing into her palms. Eyes glanced away around the motel room then back up towards the scruffy hunter. Even in her stance it wasn't hard to see there was a change. "But you not showing up...it hurt more than being shot."
Side of her closed fist hit against his chest followed by the other one. Forehead dropping against his chest as the strong woman, struggled to fight back feminine emotions. Shoulders dropped slightly as she leaned against him. Until his arms circled about her, holding her like he'd done so many other times before. Emotion gave way to memory as her closed fists opened against his frame working up to his strong jaw. Action was simple yet familiar as her lips found his. Slow tentative kiss faded as a second of more want took its place. Fingertips splayed against his cheeks and stubble kissing him again as both seemed to lean into it. Breath was pulled between kisses that grew into more opened mouth, feeling her tongue caress against his. Back arched at the feel of his hands against her, while her digits had worked down his chest, to the buckle of his belt.
Eyes opened as lips pulled from his to get a better breath. Feeling his skin brush against the back of her knuckles just above where she held the undone buckle. Swallowing space between them grew as she back peddled from him. Impulse had taken over, fingertips moved against parted lips as she stared towards King. Perhaps there had been something more that drew her away. Maybe it was Dean. There was a level of connection, but she couldn't fool herself into allowing herself to believe it was or could be anything more, and there was history with King. No words would flow from her lips as she stood there in silence until the sound form next door.
Eyes danced over Hannibal's features before she turned, pulling the hotel door open. In a short distance she was standing in front of the first room, her knuckles connecting with the door in a knock, before lying palm open against the wood. "Dean... Sam."

The door to the impala swung open as King’s body shifted pulling himself out. Pausing a moment his glance looked off towards the horizon blinking he turned it towards the trio. The rift in the atmosphere that hung between the four hunters was held together by the unbearable silence. King wasn’t a man who normally held back words let alone conversation as a whole but something was off with him. Maybe it was the reality Alex was right in front of him and he had absolutely no idea what to say. Placing a hand along the sleek black body of the impala King shut the door looking over the cab towards her. Then it was suddenly clear to him why he had kept his distance for so many years. Consciously he knew that two words would never mend what they had nor would it take back what he did. Poetic irony at it’s fullest. To realize you can never tell the truth right when the moment has presented itself to bare your soul.
Her glance landed on King’s emotionless face but he didn’t look away. When she let her eyes fixate on the brothers King broke his stance and headed toward the room he’d booked. Not having any personal belongings on him made it easy for King to break away from the group. It meant he had no reason to go back to them other then the brunette, but she stopped being his a long time ago. Of course fate wouldn’t allow him to get away so easily. Looking down he noted the room number, the one right next door to the Winchesters. How surprising. Gripping the handle he let the door slide open eyes fixated to the dim light in the room. Taking a deep breath King reached back to shut the door. He got a few steps forward before his body came to a stop hearing words directed at him, "What the hell was that back there?" Looking over his shoulder he saw Alex’s figure posed with arms crossed. Hannibal turned to her but before he could get a word in she stopped him, a finger pointed in his direction. Even if she would of let him answer King wasn’t sure he actually knew it. What happened back at the asylum was hard to explain let alone something he’d want to explain. That woman had King feeling something he hadn’t since, well since before Alex saved him. It was if she awoke the monster that was thought to be long gone. It scared Hannibal because he knew if Dean hadn’t pulled the “let’s save your ex-boyfriends ass” maneuver King would have given into her.
"Just because you're back, doesn't mean things can be the way they used to. Things have changed." Brown irises looked over the woman before him. Part of him still wanted what they had still wanted her. The other part knew that the day she left was the day all that was would never be. Didn’t keep him from thinking about her. Maybe that’s why he checked in on her every now and then. It wasn’t just the haunting guilt of leaving her as she’d left him. Helpless. Still didn’t make what was wrong right. “You know that’s not why I’m here…” He let the words flow from his lips easily even with part of him knowing it was a partial lie. King would never admit to anyone, even Alex, that he still loved her. "...I'm sorry...I should have told you it was something I needed to do alone. You pulled away first King." The sorry caught him off guard he hadn’t been expecting one at least not so early on, but then came the blame game. King gave a slight huff at her comment but bit his tongue. Now wasn’t the time to get in a heated discussion they were talking and it was better then yelling. He watched her tense up as her blue eyes met with his. "But you not showing up...it hurt more than being shot." Hearing her say it brought back the memory faster then he’d anticipated. His eyes shifted around the room falling back on her. He knew this part was coming still didn’t make him want to do it any faster. King wanted to tell her how it felt when she left. How much it hurt but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Couldn’t bring himself to tell her that when she said goodbye it reminded him how much a heart can ache when you’re not a ruthless monster. Made him wonder why she saved him from hell when she was just going to leave and put him in another.
The look in her eyes made him stay quiet. Alex raised her fists to him and let the built up emotion out. Hannibal stood still taking her hits until her body slumped slightly weight shifting onto him. Without thinking his arms were wrapped around her for comfort. Again her weight shifted as he felt her touch run up his body finding a resting spot along his jaw line. Her soft lips pressed against his as if it were a first kiss. Uneasy and unknowing of the consequence but soon they slipped into the aggressive kisses that urged want. Leaning in towards her King kissed deeper, the want quickly taken over rational thought. Passion was running the show their kisses getting rougher; he could feel her tongue slip into his mouth, which resulted in pulling her in closer. His palms firmly placed on her lower back gripping slightly as the body heat rose. Alex arched her back as her hands slowly slipped down his muscular chest towards his belt. King swallowed slightly between kisses as arousal was working its magic. Her figure pulled away slightly allowing breath to be taken. The grip on his belt was still firm but quickly let up. Alex backed away from him a step at a time, fingers against her lips in disbelief.
King’s breath was fast paced the want within him still strong like the heart beat beneath his chest. Blue eyes gazed upon him but soft lips uttered nothing. For a moment King watched her waiting for her to say something, anything, but all he got was silence. Eyes narrowed on her as if to ask the question “what now?” The answer was commotion from the other room. Alex said the name of the one that had hit him in the diner, “Sam.” Blue irises shifted over King before the brunette turned to open the hotel door and within seconds she was outside. Hannibal stood alone in the room trying to figure out what had just happened. Eyes darted out the wide open door. Letting a deep breath out King started toward the door to see what was going on, fixing his belt buckle on the way.

Hand turned the leather bound wheel as the old maverick headed down the highway, flipping open a small gps like system beside him. But he had been living around King most of his life, and knew when there was irritation in his voice, just like there was now. The tone he got when things weren't always going his way. Or when he secretly felt threatened. It wasn't hard to mistake the way he said Dave that he was annoyed. At least this time it wasn't entirely directed towards him. When conversation eneded he looked towards the small screen with a smirk. King was only thirty minutes away, fifteen if he broke a few laws. With a track record like his, what was a few more.
Boot clad foot pressed down on the gas as he released the clutch popping into a higher gear speeding down the highway. It would be good to actually see his brother again. Last time he'd seen him didn't go as planned. But what ever did. Red head bobbed with the blasting radio, while wind from the downed windows whipped through his hair. While voice carried over with the Radio and Night Ranger's lead singer, Jack Blades. "Motoring! What's your price for flight? You've got him in your sight, And driving thru the night. Motoring! What's your price for flight, in finding mister right? You'll be alright tonight..." When you've got an older brother, sometimes you worry, others you don't. Then there are those times you just want to be around to make fun of them when they fall. Half of the time that was the relationship between the King boys. Dave ending up more often than not, smack upside the back of his head, while his name was hissed. Truth was, he looked up to Han. If not even almost idolized him.
In a way it had been that very fact that got him into what he was doing now. Of course, when your brother also becomes a Vampire for a good couple of years, a brother's gotta do something. Davis did the logical choice. In his mind at least. King, protected him when he was younger, helped him out of binds, and was often an accomplice. Dave always had a way of finding his brother. Often times in interesting situations. Maverick pulled into an old parking lot with the crunch of old asphalt under the tires as he slowed. Pulling up beside an old refurbed Impala he paused, drumming his hand against the wheel before getting out. Brows arched slightly as he saw a female figure knocking on a door. Followed only steps behind her was a familiar form. Smirk spread wide against his young natured features. Hand dropping against the hood of his car as voice called out. "Look at you, ya wussy. Think a little scruff is gonna help you be more of a man, K-I-N-G?"
Pushing away from the car his Doc Martins kicked a small rock away and stepped over a discarded aluminum can. That playful smirk of his still present upon his faint freckle dotted face. Red hair was still spiked, if not slightly wind-whipped. Dark navy jacket was worn over a old screen printed tee and blue jeans, with a large belt buckled leather belt through the loops. Head shook slightly glancing from the back of the dark haired woman to his brother. "Surprise!"

Dean immediately went to the door in response to the insistent knocking and soft voice outside; perhaps thrusting it open a bit harder than he'd intended due to his heightened state. His eyes couldn't help but take in the flushed look that Alex had on her face. It brought out her freckles and gave her even more of a girl-next-door look. Her lips were redder than usual, full as if she'd just dragged her teeth over them... but that could have been anything, he reminded himself. The clink of metal made him shoot a glance over to King then quickly away as he realized he was adjusting his belt. Alright so likely his assumptions about what they had been up to were right.
His sage and granite flecked eyes drew back to Alex's, the blaze behind them apparent. What was going in their room wasn't anything they needed to concern themselves with. So why was she worrying herself over any of it? - Or King for that matter. Judgment guessed that Han was just following her because she had fled. Why else would he be there? Nostrils flared slightly as he sneered and looked aside; disgusted that she'd spun him about so badly. Swallowing the self-loathing that flooded to the surface, Dean managed to find her eyes again. He didn't need her. He didn’t' need a distraction like her. It was clear to him why Hannibal had come. Alex was an incredible woman.
"Sorry about the noise. - Didn't mean to interrupt." He offered finally walking away from her and deeper into the room as he collected the few things that they'd dropped on the table adjacent the door. Strong forceful movements stuffed the assortment of paranormal equipment into his satchel. He turned back to look at Sam he tucked a .45 into the back waistband of his jeans. "You ready?" he asked his younger sibling, barely acknowledging Alex's presence. Asshole mode had kicked in for Dean Winchester. I was his only defense to try and separate what was going on in his head so he could get the job done and leave without any attachments.
Once outside, he brushed past Hannibal his eyes meting his with dark vengeful loathing. Keys were fished from his pocket as he paused at the driver's side door. After tossing the bag into the back seat of the Impala, his head turned up at the slam of another car door. The loud voiced man was walking away from a muscle car of similar vintage and despite his better judgment he paused and admired the classic. True it was a Ford, but given the love that had obviously been put into resorting it, Dean couldn’t help but admire the sleek machine. That is, until he realized that this was someone Hannibal knew. "Nice ride," was all he said before looking over to the hotel room to see if Sam was on his way. "Sammy, come on…" he muttered, not wanting to linger about to answer any questions.

What had happened between her and King just then, had been on memory, impulse. Mentally it was what she tired to tell herself. Matter didn't help there was chemistry. History. And that they had wanted it. But his touch had stirred everything she had tried to keep buried and hidden. It worried her, the same way Dean almost worried her. Got under her skin. The two men were more alike then either would ever admit. The only one Alex felt that she could connect to levelly was Sam. Something about him just gave her that vibe. Understanding, the ability to listen. Sighing Alex glanced up quickly as the door opened and her hand resting against the wood slid off.
Woman could tell cheeks still held a flush from what had been going on next door. Look in Dean's eyes read much the same. Glancing away from him in the same instant he'd looked away from her. Alex didn't need to question what was going on through his mind, she was pretty sure she'd be able to pin-point it. King. Yet she wasn't able to peg Dean. Pool hued orbs danced back up towards Dean hiding any other emotion she might have been feeling. Instead she tried to pull off a cool gaze. Which quickly turned to one of ice with his words and the brush off. "Don't flatter yourself. You didn't interrupt anything." Lips pursed. It was a partial lie.Partial truth. Nothing that she herself wasn't internally struggling with. Any number of outside forces could have influenced a break. Somehow truth stung more. Dean was in his own way right. What claim did she have for being there, for checking in on them. It wasn't as if they were an established team.
Dean and Sam had their own thing, she had hers. Chance or fate or destiny, which ever one wanted to believe, had brought them all together. From incident on the bridge, to events at the Logan Inn. Helping Sam save Dean. Having conversation with Dean at the bar, with things she rarely ever brought up with anyone else. Form straightened as slender brows narrowed softly. Distractions seemed to come three fold. First with Dean and Sam. The arrival of King and now something more. Eyes glanced away from the Winchester brothers as the sound of another muscle car engine rumbled into the lot. By now her defensive walls were up as she shifted weight from one hip to the other. Yet soon a new voice intruded. One she'd heard on a few occasions. Davis King. Side stepping the moving Dean she didn't bother to look back as Sam came to the doorway in front of her. Hand grasped his wrist as she whispered low. "Be careful."

Weight shifted as King came around the door ledge catching Dean’s glance as he fixed his buckle. The reaction of a quick pull away read loud and clear King couldn’t help but give a slight smirk. "Sorry about the noise. - Didn't mean to interrupt." Eyes followed the man as he returned into the hotel room with hostility in his body language . Hannibal noticed little things in others movements it was an instinct he got when he was bitten. Watch your prey carefully they give away so many secrets in their gestures. Tongue ran over his lips as King was about to remark but was cut off with another response, "Don't flatter yourself. You didn't interrupt anything." Brown orbs slunk under narrowed eyelids as King turned his attention to Alex. Was there something going on between these two? Hannibal hadn’t been there for the entire span of acquaintance. It was obvious the eldest Winchester had what some might call a crush on her. The way he responded to King wasn’t the normal run of the mill “You’re a wiseass, I hate you” vibe King often got.
Hannibal knew that what had happened in that room was pure lust or at least that’s what he kept telling himself. Returning to the action going on inside he watched trying to understand this man that brushed Alex off so easily. "You ready?" were uttered from Dean’s mouth to his younger brother as he made his way outside. Casually allowing his shoulder to brush past King’s with a slight force followed by the vengeful look of rage. Something inside them giving the hint he was just waiting for King to take a swing. Oh how King wanted to but a quick glance at Alex and he knew he had to restrain from fist-face contact. Eye contact broke from Dean and went back into the hotel room where Sam was still grabbing a few things.
The sound of an engine behind him was picked up but he didn’t pay too much attention to it. Kings face was emotionless but inside his mind was working full paced. Then all ceased as his lips parted slightly to the voice coming from behind him, "Look at you, ya wussy. Think a little scruff is gonna help you be more of a man, K-I-N-G?" Hannibal froze slightly in shock and wonder on how the hell his little brother found him. Turning King’s eyes met with the red headed rebel a smile wide across his face. Anytime other then the one right now King would have probably thrown a sarcastic remark back to him about calling him a wussy. Just now didn’t seem like the right time because he sure didn’t want to show Dean not everyone had to be an asshole when things were serious. Wait of course he did. “Dave, how did you find me and how many cops are after you…” The silence that ensured after the question made King break into a smile. Guess Dean and Sam weren’t people who enjoyed jokes. Hannibal was actually glad to see his little brother it gave him someone outside the trio to relate with.
"Surprise!" King stepped out from under the slight awning that covered the doors from the elements of nature. Meeting his brother half way leaning in he whispered, “Don’t do anything to piss these people off…” It was a warning King wouldn’t normally make but seeing as to how things were already on the rocks he decided to play it safe. When it couldn’t possibly get any worse Dave had a history of doing just that. Right now King didn’t want to deal with these people’s crap. He had already gotten in deeper then he had intended and if the brothers were leaving then good riddance.

Sam watched the exchange at the door, noticing how tightly tension wound his brother's shoulders. They were nearly hunched before Dean straightened up and stalked into the room, throwing things they needed into a satchel. Alex stood by the doorway, looking lost as King peered around her. Something physical had happened, that much Sam got from their appearances, but Alex had pushed away- very nearly running out the door. Her stance gave her away, showing that she very badly wanted to run away from them all. Yet, she stayed and the way her eyes followed Dean made Sam look away.
Dean was doing the Winchester Special, using anger and cutting remarks to cover himself. Sam knew the act well, having seen it in various incarnations when Dean truly cared about someone outside of Sam and their dad. Sighing, Sam pulled his jacket on and grabbed his own satchel and the shot gun leaning against the wall.
"Sammy, come on!"
Sam started out the door when Alex caught him by the wrist. "Be careful."
Sam gave her a nod before pulling himself from her grasp and hustling across the parking lot to the Impala, where Dean was seated impatiently behind the wheel. The car flew backward out of its spot before Sam even had the door shut and he glared at his older brother. "Dude, take it easy! You don't even know where we're going yet!"

The Wanderer strode across the cracked, pot holed parking lot of the outlet mall, the click of her boot heels echoing. The only cars left belonged to the employees closing up the mall and the security there to watch them. Granted, she would have preferred to have the mall full of shoppers, like the day before Christmas, but she would take what she could find. The shadow demon she had created loped alongside of her, pulling hard at the mental bond between them, like an eager puppy straining at a new leash.
Approaching a main mall entrance, the Wanderer's stride didn't even falter- she walked right through them in a shower of metal and glass. Startled security guards turned toward her, freezing as they took in her black eyes and the hulking shadow demon beside her. Smiling, she revealed a mouthful of razor sharp fangs.
"Oh, I just love rent-a-cops!" she cooed and her words set the men into motion.
Two ran at her with pepper spray cannisters extended. She caught the first by the wrist and jerked upward, pulling his arm from the socket. The man screamed and she yanked him off his feet, swinging him into his partner. Both men collapsed into the arms of the waiting shadow demon. The demon seemed to dissolve into flowing black tendrils, flowing into the men's open eyes and mouths. Instantly, they began to scream in agony, writhing on the floor as black fluid poured from every orifice.
Laughing, the Wanderer turned toward the remaining security guards, who were watching their comrades in horror. "Oh, don't worry- you'll get your turn!"
Turning, she threw her hands out wide and every window and pane of glass within a 100-yard radius exploded outward, shredding anyone in the corridors and inside the stores to ribbons. Her laughter mingled with the screams of the dying and the injured as she began to walk down the corridor, seeking out fresh victims.
