Eyes darted up as he heard the scream from the girl who’d otherwise been silent. Did she know what would happen. Was she worried. He caught the gleam of yellow in her eye and backed away. “Really. I didn’t mean to freak you guys out. I wanted to know what would happen. I’ve never met anyone like you. Sorry…I blame experimenting on my parents. My dad did it all the time.” Jamie moved once again and was stopped by a girl’s hand holding his, feeling it examining it. “It’s real. Part of me. Sometimes I think I’m major freak. Even some of the mutants my mom helped thought my mutation was weird.”
He looked down to his hand and the flesh before back towards Kevin. “It just sometimes takes a bit to get it to always work right. One time I sneezed and my head was gone. Mum told me I had to stay in my room until I got it back. Took a good two hours that time.” James was curious if they’d be able to help him here. Gain that control he was lacking. Body shifted as he shrugged shoving his hand into the pocket of his jeans. “I’m like a ghost who can create flesh and blood, rather than having to poses a body like in all those horror flicks, eh.” He gave a smile towards the girl who’d taken his hand. X. Interesting nickname, then again he wanted to call himself Phanton. Suddenly however she moved very quickly. Faster than anyone he knew. In a way it was nice to be around mutants his own age. Kevin followed X quickly and Jamie went as well, more out of curiosity. The girl was intriguing to say the least.
The lot of them stopped at the balcony looking over the main entry. He heard the sound of a motorcycle pulling up as well. There was some other sounds then the doors opened and a man that looked a bit rough around the edges walked in. Greeted by a man made completely out of ice. Wolverine. Some how somewhere in the back of his mind that sounded like a name he once hear. Maybe when he was a baby and it stayed with him. He shrugged and looked over towards the other teens. “Who is that? And who was that other guy?”

Nostrils flare taking in the smells. Almost like something was a miss. He could always sense when something wasn’t quite right. Maybe it was part of his abilities, more than like it was just part of who he was. Which led him to be the candidate for the experiments. To have adamantium grafted to his entire being, along with three retractable claws in each fist. He moved slowly, cautiously smelling the air. Listening to what sounds could be heard. The sounds of students outside being kids, those inside, then he caught the smell. So familiar, so close. He could put his finger on it now, exactly. Almost taste her. The one so much like himself. Created in a fashion of his own. Trained to be a killer like he’d been.
Logan stopped in the dead center of the entry the military duffle was dropped to the ground the sound of the metal claws from his knuckles echoed in the open room. Smelling the air for her he looked skywards and there he found three pairs of eyes on him. Watching him. Two boys, the other. X. What was she doing her. But he could sense a change in her. How long had she been at the institute. He’d tried to help her once before, she was hell bent on trying to kill him. Maybe even everything she was with it.
He said nothing his dark gray eyes watched, muscles tensed as he waited. If she leapt into attack he’d be ready for her. He watched the questioning between them and the boy with gloves and black clothing placed a hand on her. She didn’t react in a way she would have. She didn’t respond to him in attack mode. Maybe she was just transfixed on something of her past now before her. Just like himself. Still he remained aware. Little did Logan know accepting the position how much of his past he was about to face. Because up on the balcony with X was a son he never knew he had.

Now once again, there was something familiar in the air. So familiar it made her sneer and silently growl. The memory wasn’t hers… it was… it was the forms, but it was hers at the same time. She had once been three other people, inside her body there had been those three-and those three knew this scent. However, SHE had always been there and SHE recognized it as well. Snorting slightly she forgot about the attraction the Guthrie scent had on her and turned roughly.
Moving swiftly the girl’s feet moved swiftly through the corridors. He was here, someone who tried to help her in the past-with her inability and abilties. With every plus she was handed, two negatives came about. Her form seemed to barely be breathing as she moved through the hallways. There was tension, she could smell it as she got near.
Suddenly she stopped and stared towards the man before her. Wolverine. How much had he helped her with his small stay with Mr. Cassidy and Ms. Frost? He would never know since she could never tell him. Silently she gulped as she watched him closely, letting her pupil-less eyes glance up to what he was looking at.
Interesting, another like him.
There stood three people, two she had seen before-she could remember their scent easily…. And another, well another who had to be new. Eyes blinked a few times before she crouched watching the group, she was a teacher now-go figure… and her one mentor was here, claws bared.
Without much notice, the room went dark just around her as her body took in the light energy from around her. It was interesting how she did this without realization… but none-the-less, she did it.

It was him. She knew she smelt him, knew he was here. This was afterall his home more than hers right? When Kevin placed another hand on her shoulder, she didn't react at all. Why would she? He didn't post a threat to her at all. X could remember the encounters with "Weapon X." she whispered. He had tried to help her once, that was way before this. That was back when she was trying to destroy everything that had to do with her, everyone who was part of the Weapon X project. When she was trying to make them pay for what they did to her. But now, now that was all over.
She didn't kill him once even if she tried to. She couldn't, because he was not the animal they had pegged him for. He didn't even know about her. Unfortunatly she wasn't ready for help. She wasn't ready for anyone, she was content on the streets to her own life, to her own world. And she had gone through alot on the streets that was for sure. Perhaps it was a maturing stage that brought her here, accepting the help of those around her. But she still didn't trust everyone, she still didn't trust Weapon X, at least not fully, not yet.
Even with the two behind her, she didn't really pay attention to them, and for the first time she didn't pay attention to Kevin. Suddenly her hands took grab of the banister and she lept over. Plunging a long way down, well to anyone her height it was pretty long. She landed beneath them on her feet with a crouch and soon stood up. Not a phase, not anything to her. That was a synch in her mind.
For a long moment she just stared at Logan silently, not a word in place. Her eyes unlike his still yellow. That was where they differed in eyes, though they looked like his, the same shape, the same style, the same deep anger behind them, they were a different colour. Always. She could thank Sarah for that she guessed. Her fingers twitched a bit and the unhappy look on her face was still present. She knew that above her Kevin was getting freaked out. He knew what happened when she was like this. Usually a state of violence came from it all. She could hear him moving down the stairs with deep thuds. Asking her to calm down, but X was not going to back down, not ever.
Suddenly she began to move, slowly walking towards Wolverine. Her claws still out in the open air. She never backed down from anyone, not even Wolverine. Her steps were taken carefully until she finally came dead in front of him. And even though she was rather short for her age and he was rather short all together, she still looked up at him. Her eyes narrowing slowly as she seemed not in the best of moods. And for most it looked as if she was about to strike.
But suddenly she didn't. Suddenly her head just bowed and she looked to the floor and with a rather serious tone to her voice she felt this needed to be done. For her accusations, for his wanting to help her, for her humanity. Because thats what she was, thats what she had to keep reminding herself about constantly, she was Human. Well Homo-superior but when it came down to it she was still human. " I am..sorry." from her days on the streets and on her own she learned that you had to understand when you made mistake. And you should try to fix them.
She hadn't notice something before unfortunatly. Another being was there, another scent to take it. It was raw. Her head snapped to the side as she glared at the red skinned girl. She didn't like her, she didn't like the claw like fingers she had, she didn't like the smell she gave, nor the stare she shot their way. Her form turned and a small growl escaped her lips. Like the girl of Lightening, this girl threatened her for some reason, or at least that is how she saw it. A threat just by not allowing herself to be known.

“Xevannah!” was all he was able to say before the girl jumped over the bar. His own flew towards it and he looked down at the ground only to see X land on her feet perfectly. His eyes widened-but then again, we’re talking about barbarella-esque type girl here. However, he didn’t know whom this ‘wolverine’ character was, and he wasn’t about to let X get rowdy.
Jumping down half the stairs at once, the still boy known as Wither moved quickly. Seemingly five steps at a time. He didn’t want this to be one of her last days, after all, Frost is a bitch after all and wouldn’t hesitate to kick a girl out who starts fights-or rather finishes them. “X… c’mon calm down.” By now he skidded to a halt mere feet from the two clawed mutants-only to see X’s reaction to him lessen and him get an “I’m sorry” out of her.
Wow, was all he could think before X turned quickly and stared the girl shrouded in darkness. “X… that’s…. that one girl… from earlier.” He moved to go grab X, help her calm down. “C’mon X…” he said softly before taking a step towards the dark haired girl once more-but suddenly he saw the flash of red consume her eyes and he stopped.

Logan listened something he was good at. His pacience however was starting to wane. He hated waiting always had. This situation was no different now than in his past. He was waiting on her. Finally she moved taking a leap off the balcony where they stood. He heard the voices and the rushing of feet against the stairs. One called her by a name he’d never heard before. Brows narrowed still he remained unmoving. Even when she landed in a crouch be fore him. Wolverin held his ground. They were in essence the same. In a twisted world she was like a daughter. Of course something like that would never be said aloud.
X-23 moved the look in her eye like he’d seen before. The boy who’d touched her called out. Asked her to stop. She didn’t seem to hear him. He could tell the other boys were now down on the ground floor as X started moving. Coming up just before him. Still clenched and clawed fists hung at his sides, watching and waiting. He knew he’d be quick enough to block her if he had to but he didn’t. She did something he wasn’t expecting. The apology almost softened the rugged X-Man. He’d wanted to help her then, she wasn’t ready. If she was ready now he’d try to help her again. His voice came out in a low grumble. “So you have a name…X-23.” The adamantium claws slid back into their retracted state the flesh healing quickly, unnoticed to the mutant. Large hand moved and placed upon the girls shoulder as he leaned forwards in a low whisper for her. “Seems were both starting over.”
Soon he snapped up, having a similar reaction for an instant as X did. He half turned facing the corridor where a figure was crouched. The red skin, and claws. Wolverine picked up her scent and moved, extending his arm before X. He knew that smell. Another memory from his past. Someone else he once tried to help, and who tried to help him in return. “Penance.” Shifting his weight he stood slightly before X and between the mute woman. He truly wasn’t expecting to face so much of his past, it brought up memories he’d long since forgotten. The only ones he could never fully remember were those before he was turned into what he was today. A weapon. But he’d become more than that. Learning and growing with the help of others. Trying to kill the demons of his past. He heard the other boy coming closer. And he extended a hand out. “Don’t move.”

Suddenly the girl jumped down… stared Wolverine down and exchanged words-good words. However, the same couldn’t be said for what was going to happen between herself and the girl before Wolverine. Fingers clicked ‘1, 2, 3’ before she slowly moved to the side, crouching as she did so-so animalistic in which she was raised, and how she still acted. Eyeing Wolverine she tried to disappear into the shadows, body taking in more of the light around her until the room she stood in was pitch black with only a random crack of light from the lamps trying to exude their energy.
With every flash of light, her red flesh stayed in the same spot-light glistening from the hard surface of her being. How she could kill the girl before her with a snap of her fingers, Penance thought as she tilted her head and stared at the three. “Don’t move.” Wolverine said to a boy-but Penance didn’t do anything but do something that seemed like a cat hiss, just silent into the air in which she only bared her teeth.
Glowing orbs seemed to be brighter now that she had the energy in her body, and they moved unnoticeably from Wolverine to X-23. Then it hit her, he had said her name. Just like before, her fingers rubbed against eachother in a motion that sounded much like the opening and closing of scissors-acknowledging he was right. However, her immediate gaze never faultered from looking at X-23.
The blue pupil-less orbs suddenly cocked another way as he head moved in the darkness. What would be the next move?

He could feel the tension growing in the entry, you could almost cut it with a claw. In his case. Eyes moved from X to Penance, then a quick glance to the boys behind him. There had been a brief note that there were additions to the school, now thinking back to it he understood. There was the sound from her claw like fingers as she moved draining the energies around her until she was in darkness. He could still partially see her. More over he could smell her, taste her, hear her. What was going through her mind.
Moving almost as if they were dancing he shifted X-23 watching Penance, keeping his place between them, as well as the boys. It was weird how something like that could kick in. A feeling of needing to be a protector. He’d had a long drive and wasn’t looking for a fight, but as always he would have stood his ground. Still slightly moving he focused his attentions towards the girl and her glowing blue eyes. Gruff voice once more came from past his lips. “We’re teachers here. It’s our turn to help. You remember me don’t you. Remember back then.”
He remembered parts as well. Shifting the stocky mutant huffed out his breath, watching the darkness and her movements. Nothing else was said however not yet anyway. Wolverine was trying to gauge the situation. With what he knew of X-23 and Penance. He might be able to stop them both if it came down to it. For now he was determined to get in the middle of it to keep anything from happening.

Penance stared at the two with the metal and felt bad-knowing whole-heartedly that X-23 had nothing just anger and trust issues… just like she did. Shaking her head she sneered, baring her teeth once more in the darkness she created. Penance didn’t like this girl-she was as animalistic as herself… she posed a threat
Backing slowly she eyed Wolverine who spoke of being a teacher-if he knew… suddenly she stood and allowed the lights to flicker back on slightly. What they saw, no one was expecting. She wore a Hellions emblem on her special uniform- but not one like the students, one like Emma, one like the rest of the teachers in this school. She was the assistant advisor to Ms. Frost. However she wouldn’t show it off-it wasn’t as if she was proud, these people just needed to know.
How she wanted the tear that little brat to shreds in front of her, teacher how to respect those she doesn’t know… after all, it took her being solitary and alone for her to trust others-If she doesn’t want to do that, least she could do is stay AWAY from me until she gets to slowly know me she thought to a deaf audience.
Sneering again, Penance lowered to a better stance once more. Her animal instincts not allowing her to turn or let alone stay standing when this girl was so much shorter than her. Eyes continued to watch X for a few moments. It seemed neither would back down anytime soon.

She heard her name but didn't react much to it either. The only thing now she seemed to be reacting to was the girl in the red skin. And the fact that the room was growing darker. But that didn't matter to X, after all she could smell the girls from a mile a way, and she was no where near making silent noises. She didn't like the girl much, she couldn't really tell you why, but she didn't simple as that. Maybe she reminded her to much of things from the past, or the fact that she seemed more of a threat than anything else. Whatever it was X was not a happy camper, nor would she be anytime soon.
She had nodded to Logan's words earlier about having a name, well she did indeed. She let them name her as if she was some animal because she never understood the end of her letter. The end of what Sarah Wrote. She still wondered who Laura Kinney was and if she should try and contact her. Little did she realize that was Sarah naming her daughter. Yes daughter. Sarah carried her and always considered her that, even through what they put her through.
Suddenly Logan had taken notice of the red skinned girl and he was shifting around. Moving with the three and trying to protect her and the boys. She didn't need his help though, she could always take care of herself, or so she thought. When she heard the mention of teacher, X seemed to growl gently into the air. " I will not co-operate" came her sudden voice as she stared this woman down. Like a challenged animal she stared. " You will not come near me or my...friends..anymore.." was her low words, so dangerous. How this was going to work only Emma knew. This was going to be one interesting year.

Kevin and that new girl were suddenly in the door way as Cess was nodding to Jamie's words about his birthday. With a smile she looked to the pair, somehow Cess didn't care that they held hands anymore. "Hey Kev. Look you have a room mate" of course he would have known that already but hey there was no harm in repeating right?
The two exchanged words and when Kevin showed his powers and Jamie commented about her Ironic statement, she laughed and nodded her head. "Exactly.." But Jamie was way to much of a experimenter for Cessily's likes. And when he grabbed Kevin's hand and put his flesh to his own Cessily moved a bit forward and raised a hand in protest. A very worried expression on her face. " Jamie! Don't." but it was to late, the boys arm was disappearing and Cess could only watch in horror. But the horror expression soon faded as she saw what happened next.
Just like before his arm began to rejuvenate itself and become tangable again. Amazed Cess could only utter the words "wow" before she snapped out of it. This was so weird, previously only one person could touch Kevin without being harmed and that was her but now there was two more. Herself, X and Jamie. Of course X and Jamie's was a tad bit different, like the fact that he must have hurt like hell. Cess well, because shes not organic it doesn't affect her at all.
When she was about to say something else there was a bit of a distraction. X had run from the room and Cessily could only blink in a confused state. Then of course Kevin like the protector he was with her ran after her, Jamie following leaving Cess to follow behind. She didn't catch up until a bit after though, with a huff she stood with Jamie. X had jumped over the rail and Kevin was following behind. " Something tells me this is not good." came Cessily's voice as she stood above and watched what was going on below. I mean, what was she supposed to do?

This little she bitch didn’t scare Penance in the least. Eyes slowly looked the remarkably short girl up and down. She had no fear of her, and if she thought talking to her would make Penance respect and fear her, well this ‘X’ had another thing coming.
Suddenly Penance let her hand flash open, hands like long knives that crooked at the knuckle. Suddenly a tendril pointed towards X then back to herself as if telling the little sprite not to mess with her, after all X didn’t know what she was getting herself into when it came to Penance
The silent growl returned and she bared her teeth once more. Penance wasn’t scared in the least. As for Wolverine, she knew he meant well, but this girl was as bad as Penance when she came back to this realm. Sneering again, the sudden scent of metal ran into her senses and the strange silver girl made her growl her silent growl.
She felt cornered, suddenly the room grew dark once more… she bared her teeth towards Logan. She was far from happy right now.

Post by Noriko Ashida on Oct 3, 2005 14:05:49 GMT -5
As Noriko slid back the frosted panel of glass and stepped out of the shower, she heard a knock on the door. A dejected sigh escaped her lips as she worked to quickly dry herself. Tossing the pile of soaked clothes into the hamper, with a wet splat, the blue-haired mutant grabbed up a pair of jeans and a faded yellow t-shirt, throwing them on as she called out, “I’ll be right there Headmistress Frost…” that was when she heard the voice respond. It wasn’t the music she’d been expecting to face; in fact it was far worse.
Opening the door, Nori leaned against the frame, her bare arms folded across her chest defensively. Behind her on the bed, lay the pair of gauntlets she’d removed in order to take her shower. In the back of her mind Nori knew she should really have them on at a near constant basis; that this was a reckless decision. She also knew that this wasn’t going to take very long. “You know of all the faces I expected to see…” she shook her head, not wanting to finish. Wet blue stuck to her cheek as she looked down at the ground shoving back the misguided anger that wanted to lash out at Jay. “You can tell everyone that I’m fine ok? I just don’t want talk about it.”
The last bit she spoke was quick and noticeably angered. It was only a matter of time before everyone knew what she did. Only a matter of time before they would al realize that she wasn’t the team player they thought she was, that she was weak… that when things got tough she’d turned her back on the healthy solution. And now who was here to try to glean the truth but the only one who really stood a chance. ‘Close the door Noriko. Close the door and lie down.’ she ordered herself. Unless “red” decided to post an APB on the corkboard she was in the clear…
“I’m just a little tired after that incident in the park.” The brown in her eyes was beginning to vein with white-blue energy, changing the pigment like ink staining a cloth. She was anything but tired now that she was absorbing energy again. As she spoke to Jay the filament of her bedside lamp began to glow. The crisp aroma of burnt ozone began to emanate all around her, but her gaze never broke his. She could, hear the slam of a door, male voices in the distance, but life outside of this room wasn't her concern... keeping it out, was.

Cess was happy enough to stay in line uptop the balchony above. Just watching what was going on, afterall this wasn't her fight. This wasn't anyones fight really but X and this Red skinned girl. Somehow Cessily knew X was going to be a bit of trouble. Once already she was there when a fight started and in the end she knew Headmistress Frost would not be pleased to know that it was now going onto two. Cess was about to walk away really, not wanting to get involved with this and Julian really needed to know what the heck was going on with the squad.
But something big stopped Cessily. Call it a instinct to protect or well she couldn't really explain it to be honest. When she saw the room growing darker she knew something wasn't going right. And down there dab in the middle was a moving Kevin, about to get involved. Something in her snapped as she felt a surge of hostility. "KEVIN GET OUT OF THERE!" was her only loud screams as she dropped into motion. Something was deffidently taking place now.
With a good speed Cessily Kincaid, who didn't really want to previous get involved and wasn't known for helping many people out when it came to fights, considering she hardly got in them was barreling down the stairs. Her form was shifting, she could feel it and it felt great really. The molocules of her form began to supress and within moments she was nothing but a dripping statue. It seemed this time Cess shockingly was going to start the fight. To her she was only defending.
Quickly her body began to swirl and move through the air, expanding and flattening. She was looking to cover the red skinned girl. To wrap around her before squeezing tight. Like a vat of water pressing against your body. She was going to stop this girl from doing whatever she was doing. Wow today was really becoming weird.

Kevins eyes watched X with worry and doubt. This girl was VERY strong… but like Kevin… not strong in the things she needed. He lowered his eyes some to the floor before looking to Mr. Logan who had mentioned something about the redskinned girl being a teacher. This was interesting-call that a fuckin rivalry would ya? He snorted some in protest before listening to what X growled.
“I will not co-operate" X had said softly into the air, yet sternly, making a serious point. " You will not come near me or my...friends..anymore.." He notice her slight stutter on the word friends, but how she meant it was so serious. He tightened his jaw.
“Xevannah… it’s really o.k… everyone here is different.” Was KEVIN FORD actually saying this? It took someone being just like him for him to realize this. To realize everyone is different and he’s not a freak? His eyes looked to X very carefully and full of care. “X… it’s ok.”
However he spoke too soon as he heard a yell from above and Cess drop down into the scene. His body turned quickly and he saw Cess attack the red-skinned girl he heard Mr. Logan call Penance. His eyes widened before he saw the mayhem go down. “Oh Cess…” he whispered low into the air.
