The road to the Junkyard was long, okay longer than she thought and it was deffidently hard keeping up with Kevin. He was so ahead of her, but making it to the junkyard meant meeting up with Kevin and she did. She spoke her first set of words before speaking again quickly. "And I may be metal, but I can see that it's cold out here. Give a few more days and I bet your tongued could get stuck to me." She smiled brightly at that, ok so it was a bad time for joking, and it was a bad joke all together, but hey she had to lighten this thing a bit right?
He didn't seem amused when he spoke though. Something was deffidently bother the Kev-man. “Cess… why did you follow me? I… asked you to stay there…" She could only answer in well one way she could think of. "Well you know us red heads Kev, we can be really stubborn. And besides...I asked you to stay at the Mansion to keep going and you said you would, so why the heck are you out here in the cold? Huh? I know that scarf and jumpsuit can't be all that warm."
Suddenly he turned towards her, he was so quiet before, something slightly odd for Kevin anyways. Well, not really but there was something very different about him. Like the fact he had a tear on his face and the fact he seemed so,...lost. She listened to his words, but agreeing was another thing. "You're a Hellion Kevin. I came to get you once before, even when you weren't and I will come to bring you back again and again. You're my friend and I'm not going to let you throw away everything you worked on so far. The School is trying to help you control your power, but you have to give them more than just one chance, you have to keep trying harder and harder and don't give up." Slowly she stepped towards him and her hand raised towards his face, wiping the tear from his cheek with her bare hand. "You forget, some of us you can't hurt." she pulled back then and looked around the junkyard. "Is this really where you want to be, huh? In a scrap yard making clocks for the rest of your life. You have a chance to be somebody, be someone great and make your mark on the world. To be able to learn to touch not just us metals. To touch people like Laurie...or.,..X. But you have to come back to try and get this power under control. No one is going to fear or blame you there because we all know what having mutations is like." she smiled gently and let her pupiless gaze return to him.
"What do you say Kevin. This is your chance to make better and prove to them you're not who they say you are. Are you going to take it...come on..please." her hand slowly raised in mid air, reaching out palm up and giving him option to take it. Even if he didn't she wasn't just going to go away. Oh no, like she said Red Heads can be very stubborn.

Kevin stared for a moment and let his eyes shut to her cold touch. Touch, how he missed those days… how he missed everything. He smiled a bit and put his hand to hers before letting it finally go. Oh how he missed so much.
"Well you know us red heads Kev, we can be really stubborn. And besides...I asked you to stay at the Mansion to keep going and you said you would, so why the heck are you out here in the cold? Huh? I know that scarf and jumpsuit can't be all that warm. You're a Hellion Kevin. I came to get you once before, even when you weren't and I will come to bring you back again and again. You're my friend and I'm not going to let you throw away everything you worked on so far. The School is trying to help you control your power, but you have to give them more than just one chance, you have to keep trying harder and harder and don't give up."
Her cold touch made him realize how right she was, and the pain in her pupiless orbs made him feel as if he was hurting her more than he ever thought he could hurt someone, even when he was killing them. “Cess… I’m sorry.”
"You forget, some of us you can't hurt." He sighed some. He didn’t cry at all and that tear, a moment of weakness. “Is this really where you want to be, huh?” His jaw tightened as he straightened somewhat. No it wasn’t, but it was… he couldn’t explain it.
Then she went into her tangent… all he could do was smile. Her smile was bright to him, and he felt his breathing become deeper. He felt wanted, for the first time in a long time. “Cess… I’m sorry, I hurt you more this way than I ever wanted to. Emotionally more than physically… you mean the world to me Cess.” Then, ignoring her hand, he pulled her close, feeling her metallic touch against his arms and chin, her red hair in his face. Silent tears fell from his now closed eyes before kissing the top of her head. “Sure Cess, I’ll go back… thank you.”
Pulling himself back he had already wiped the tears from his cheeks and smiled, grabbing his duffle and turned to her once more. “You are always there for me… how do you stand me?” He let out a laugh and turned, Jasper staring them down.
“Well son, I knew it wasn’t going to last long, but dayum this was ridiculous. C’mon Kevin.. and silverygirl. Lets get you two back to the mansion.” Jasper’s horse voice was fading as he turned and climbed into the pickup truck, starting the loud diesel engine and opening the door for the kids.
“I guess we should get goin then huh?” Kevin held out his hand to his friend… his true friend.

She couldn't help but let the edges of her mouth curl as far as they could into a smile when he said he was sorry. The look in his eyes told her that he truely was sincere, and that meant the world to her. Because it meant they were getting somewhere. "You don't have to say sorry Kev. We all hit ruts, fixing it is the hard part. I mean...You're not the only one that hates his powers sometimes, look at me." she spread her arms out and looked slowly at herself. " Sometimes I wish I didn't exist at all, I mean it's not really normal being silver right. But sometimes..your powers do come in handy."
Then he did something that shocked Cessily really. He smiled, it wasn't often that you could find a smiling Kevin, and more so not often that you can ifnd one so in a rut that he's well, all affectionate and stuff. She was pulled to him in a sudden movement. Her eyes widdening as she was, and when the lips kissed her forhead, she had the most shocked look ever on her face. Today was getting really strange indeed. But soon she settled her shocked and wrapped her arms around him and gave him a giant squeeze of a hug. It was nice to hear that her speech worked, he was part of the team and something more to her once upon a time, maybe a little still. She wasn't about to just let him go off, thats not what team mates...thats not what friends do. She couldn't help but laugh gently at her own revelation.
Slowly he pulled away and then a man was eyeing them down. When she saw the mans look, she couldn't help but raise a brow and look just slightly more serious than before. But suddenly he spoke of knowing that Kevin was going to go back and offered them a ride. Smirking she took the hand that Kevin offered and jumped up into the passenger seat. "Word at the mansion is, someone from the Xmen is being held captive...and we get to be the ones to go after her." she beamed and looked towards him. Always loving the action that they get on the feild. "Major feild assignment I think. Good chance to show them what the Hellions are made of, am I right or am I right?" Cessily Loved being part of the Hellions. To her it was such an honour and something to be so proud of. Sure alot of people didn't like Julian sometimes, he could be a bit to much for some people but Cess, she loved him to death, he was like a brother to her, and so was everyone else on the team.

“James as much as I understand your want to assist in this matter; ultimately I have no authority to keep you here, but I will ask that you goon strictly an observatory fashion. Until you’ve learned to harness your talents I think it would be wise not to try and take an active position with the team.” Charles wheeled to the lockers, gesturing to an unmarked on a few feet from X-23’s that he could access. “There are spare uniforms in here that you can utilize, but please, be mindful of my warning. I trust you spoke the truth when you described this very dangerous adversary, and because of that I want complete confidence that I am not making a mistake by allowing you to go on this mission Mr. Hudson.” He listened to the students, nodding before moving out, his voice calling back as he rolled toward the hangar. “You’ll be wanted in the Blackbird in 20 minutes.”
Rolling though the doors, his chair came across the open grated floor. He heard the sound of tools and the militant click of footfalls on the floor. They echoed in the massive chamber, and he called out, to the pair. “Cyclops, Emma… Your teams should be assembled soon. I have Rogue’s location. She’s in New Jersey.” His eyes cast to the stairwell. This was one place that he rarely went, his role on the team not usually one of active duty. He’d never bothered to install a handicap accessible ramp here. “I’ll go an inform Logan and Jean, you prep the jet.”

She was so alarmed by the room that she hardly heard the Professor, but she did hear the mention of not moving and his little words about the Beta project and just the room itself. What an odd place this Mansion was becoming, more and more and more. And as suddenly as the display of lights started, it ended just the same. Causing X to look around a few more times before she straightened and glanced towards the Professor. Her eyes were still wide from what she had seen, nothing in her dreams could create such a thing.
She did however keep an image in her mind. The old student that went missing, Rogue, he spoke highly of her and X tilted her head slowly. It was sad really to see the woman hugging her face with her hands and crying. X met the woman once, or well saw her, they never said a word nor never got more than ten feet from eachother. But she remebered the one with the white hair, she seemed so tough and now she was just a cowering woman. Sad.
Slowly turning she followed the Professor out as Jamie came as well. Speaking of how the man would kill her. X turned her eyes to Jamie, that was something she didn't want to happen. She knew Rogue meant alot to Logan, and so she didn't want him to get hurt.
She never spoke as Xavier explained that her being part of the Hellions meant she was going to be going on a mission right now. One she suspected meant finding this girl. No problem was all she could think. Once she could pick up the scent of Rogue, then it would just be a matter of X searching for her, hopefully the others could catch up. But she wasn't fully worrying about that just yet.
Suddenly they came to a room and as Xavier left the pair to get old uniforms, she turned to the locker and opened it suddenly. She found alot of rather useful tools within, old things that people never used. She began her search and brought about a uniform. Looking it over once and noticing it was about her size, she nodded slowly and suddenly without warning ripped the sleeves from their stitching. Without even the slightest care she began to change right in front of Jamie. She was slightly more slender and shorter than the other females, but she was just as normally formed as the others. She dropped the pants she was wearing to the floor before removing her shirt. All that was left was her under garments. Quickly she pulled the new nice fitting uniform up around her and with a bit of a body shift the uniform fit perfectly. She readjusted the collar she had worn around her neck and buckled the belt along her waist, her fingers moved quickly along the laces of the boots as she tired them without even a thought. Then came her final search, and it was a lucky one at that. A pair of gloves within, each finger covering missing. She placed them around her hands and with a odd sound 'Snikt!' her claws came out. Four claws peirced through the leather of the gloves, two on each hand, the other two making a grand total of six slide through the booting like it was nothing but a hot knife to butter. Smiling suddenly at the sight of her claws, her eyes lifted to set on Jamie who seemed a bit apprehensive. At the same times all the claws slide back in and the wounds healed as quickly as they came. "I am ready." was her monotoned, none caring words. She waited for him as well, knowing he wasn't about to let them go without him.

She couldn’t help but chuckle at the light comment about seeing the two of them fighting. Gently Jean pulled him toward the door, walking to the medical lab as she resumed the conversation with considerably less stress. She had let go of his hand, but the warmth of it still lingered on her skin causing the memory of their kiss to wash into the foreground of her mind. As they neared the lift Jean again lifted her hand with a bout of telekinetic power, turning about and walking backward as she half laughed her retort. “Oh I think if you’re the one organizing the fight I’ll pass… knowing you there’s bikinis and a mud pit involved.”
She winked, pulling him into the elevator by the shirt, her mouth smiling as she neared, almost unable to keep her lips from curling as she leaned in for a kiss. With a hiss the doors shut and for a few blissful minutes they were alone. It wasn’t that she was ashamed of showing her affection for him in a public sense, but this was all still new. She didn’t want the recent flare up with Emma and Scott to cause any rifts and she was always the realist. It wasn’t that she was expecting anything bad to happen on this mission, but there was always a chance that this was going to be the last times she saw him alone.
“Logan?” She murmured into his ear, holding her hand out as she kept the door closed for a few more lingering minutes. Her figure was held tight against him, enjoying for the unabashed moment with the Wolverine, feeling the hard chiseled body that was encased in leather. “I just wanted to let you know that-” . o O (Jean… You and Logan are needed in the hanger) O o . She faltered at the intrusion into her mind, pulling back and releasing her hold on the doors. She could feel that Professor X had sent the same message to everyone who was required. She could feel young minds all coming together with similar thought patterns. The mission was about to begin.

Blood smeared, but refreshed, Rancor looked over to Rogue and her pleads for him to stop. “You know, that’s just what my mother said,” he stooped down, grabbing up the boy’s arm and dragging him in the direction of the bathroom. He slumped the body into the tub and then went to the sink to cleanup himself. “And as much as I’d love to comply with you doll. I can’t. Dog’s gotta eat.” Water washed over his hands, face and the back of his neck. A towel was grabbed up as he ran it over his features and then tossed it onto the floor, exiting the lavatory.
Already he looked better. His skin was cleared up, muscles were taut and responsive to even the slightest of movements. Confident he strolled past Rogue, restraddling the chair and lighting a cigarette. “Well eat up. We ain’t got much more time to waste here babe. That is unless you wanna see what the second course looks like.” Rancor took a long heavy drag from the smoke watching her movements with clever eyes. He was no fool. He’d played with her enough, she was starting to think, and that was definitely not on the menu.

James waited for the professor to respond. In away the Canadian boy had been a little short with him. He hadn’t meant too. It was just, something he felt. He was going to let him go. And then he added something more. Of being an observer rather than a doer. He was right. Jamie still didn’t have a full grasp of his powers. At the same he didn’t want to just stand by and be a no one. “Alright Professor.” The dark haired boy followed as they were led to a locker room. Directed to where some uniforms were. X had already rummaged through and found something that would fit her. Making modifications to it. In the shape of ripping off the arms.
James looked over them. Some were colorful others were not. He found a black one and decided it was best. Black just seemed to fit someone who was a ghost. X hadn’t said a word through any of it. He wondered what she was thinking. James turned around as X started to strip. She was interesting. Like it didn’t matter. Hands pulled off the ruined tee shirt he wore. With a final look at his chest. Only the faint pink was left of what had happened. Body showed no other sign. Well, if she didn’t care he didn’t either. It was weird getting the suit on. Zipping it up to his neck. A pair of boots latched across his shins and no gloves.
At the sound of X’s claws he turned looking towards her. It was still a little weird. It just triggered memories. Shifting his weight hand messed his dark hair. Professor Logan was a lot like the girl in front of him. The claws withdrew as she spoke. “I am ready.” “Yeah…me too.” Pausing for a moment he looked at his hands. Opening and closing them into fists. Muscles in his jaw flexed and he started to focus his mind. It would be the first time since getting stuck he’d tried to go into phantom form. With an intake of breath Jamie’s mind sent his body and mutation the sudden command. Everything disappeared, and he still felt connected to the living plane. He would have looked almost transparent. Mentally he counted to five. There was some pain this time around as form developed. Blue eyes looked across the locker room as he stood full flesh once again.

Post by Logan: Weapon X: Wolverine on Dec 16, 2005 1:21:55 GMT -5
“You’ve been around me too long.” He commented back to her. Wolverine popped his neck as they moved together. Most students that weren’t involved were away in their rooms or classes. Heading towards the downstairs medical bay he though about that kiss. How bad he’d wanted her. How much he wanted to prove to her it wasn’t just about sex. That Wolverine wanted something deeper. Something that he’d never been able to get. There was a smell down there. Fresh. X-23 and Jamie along with the fading one of the Professor.
He wondered how the kid was holding up. Hell even how X was holding up. This was new. What ever tour they went on he was sure she knew about the Danger Room. It was something he’d wanted to show her. Share with her. Maybe his way of making it feel more like a place she belonged. Like it was a place he belonged. As the doors closed behind them Weapon X shifted. Nearing Jean as she came closer to him. Meeting her lips with his once again. It had a different feel this time. She’d leaned in for it, not he. “Logan?” “Eh?” “I just wanted to let you know that-“
. o O (You are needed in the hanger) O o . Wolverine rolled his eyes. Chuck always had a way about him. Pulling things like that just when something else was about to happen. There was a pop again from his form as he moved away from Jean, taking his broad shouldered stance. As the doors opened he could pick up the different scents. Boots thudded against the ground as he moved, looking back once again towards Jean. “Won’t this be fun.” There was a slight hint of sarcasm, but also more. It would be his first mission in a while. For the X-Men at least. Not to say he hadn’t done his own. But like Scott said, in uniform. He stopped in the loading bay of the Blackbird brows arching. There was Emma and Scott in an embrace much similar to the one He and Jean shared in the elevator. Arms folded across his bold chest. “Lemme ask ya something, Boy Scout? You ever get the aftertaste of plastic in you’re mouth?” “Mutt.” “Whore.”

She couldn't explain it, but for someone she had met only a short moment ago, Jamie felt like someone she could trust. Like he was a close brother or family member, like she could confide in him. She didn't get those exact feelings with anyone else but Logan, yet somehow she never told Logan about Sarah. Maybe it was because Jamie was closer to her age, whatever it was she couldn't explain it.
She didn't care that he was in the room when she changed. X had changed in front of others all her life that it felt as if nothing out of the ordinary. She had to change in front of others and get hosed down at the facility, she had to change in front of men who paid for her services, she deffidently wasn't going to be all of a sudden shy in front of this guy. Not to mention clothing meant nothing to her in the first place. She wasn't trained to care.
When she turned and watched him change himself, she didn't seem to care either. It was as if she had seen this a thousand times before. The only reaction she had was when he slightly ghosted himself. This made her freeze and sniff the air a bit, extremely nervous that they had lost him again. It was apparently she felt that way by the change in her facial expression, but when he returned to normal she couldn't help but smirk. And with a nod, she turned and moved out the door way.
The journey to the Hanger was not a far one, in fact it took meerly minutes. She could follow the scents that moved into the room, retracing their movements in her head. Logan had come by here, and that red haired woman. Xavier as well, and Miss Frost, the other male she wasn't totally sure on. She noticed though that none of the other students scents came that way, meaning possibly they didn't get there yet. She also wondered if Kevin would even come at all.
She walked into the room and saw the others in there, some of them well Logan and the other man exchanging a bit of words. X slowly came up to stand beside Logan, looking up towards him with a strange look before turning her eyes towards the other man who wore the glasses. She had seen him before but she didn't actually know his name nor did she speak to him. It was like with Rogue, her appearence was so shortly stayed that she didn't really talk to anyone until the past few days.
After a moment of talk, she turned suddenly towards Jamie. Taking his bicep suddenly she pulled him to the side. She hand suddenly digging into a pocket she had stashed something in earlier along her chest. It was a dusty old letter. One of quite a few pages that she handed towards him, and a picture of Pinnoccio, ripped from a very old book with the words, "I am a real boy" printed at the bottom. She wanted him to have it. She had never shown in to anyone, no one had ever put eyes upon the papers but her. They seemed to have been warn out by tear drops perhaps and some other type of liquid. But the words were so very clear still. "Please...give it back when we get there.." she gave him a serious look before she turned back away towards Logan and the others again. On the outside of the folded papers the words 'Love Sarah' were written. She hoped he would understand some other things by the words that were written, that he could see first hand the words of Sarah.

Slowly she blinked, her body raising, her face wet from crying. She had actually managed to force real tears, which was much more convincing. Taking the back of her hand to her face, she did her best to wipe the moisture away, but as her hand touched her face she shuddered at the thinness of it, the feeling of bone covered by skin. In shock she lowered her hand and stared at it in horror. Her skin was deathly pale, her fingernails broken and cracked, and her joint movement sickly visible along with the veins that snaked across her hand. Did she look like this all over? Steeling herself, Rogue slowly rose from the bed and moved to the mirror that hung above a small desk in the room and let out a soft gasp at what stared back at her.
For a few moments she stood there until she heard the faucet shut off and then she moved back to the bed and stared at the food. It smelled wonderful but… if she ate he’d use her again and she’d rather starve then go through that pain again, even if a part of her welcomed it. Looking up she watched him stroll across the room, his mannerism making her loathe him even more. She glared at him as he made his comment and then lowered her head sadly, “ Ah…” She coughed slightly, her throat extremely dry, “ Ah know whut she looks like.” Her head rose and she looked him in the eye, “ An’ ah know this next time will be her last…” She was scared, and tears welled up again making her once sparkling, now shadowed green eyes blink making the tears fall down her cheeks.
She grew silent and watched him smoke, her mind working on how the hell to accidentally let knowledge about Logan slip out. She studied him a bit more, the way he sat on the chair, how he acted and then it hit her, “ Ya remind me of someone…” She slowly shook her head, “someone ah thought was a friend.” Slowly she reached for the glass of water that had come with her food and drank about half of it down, not her wisest move really as she began to choke on it from her throat being so dry. Finally the coughing fit subsided and she could finish what she was planning to say, “ Ah’m sure ya’ve heard of’im. His name is Logan, but most of tha time he goes by Wolverine.” She took another sip of water, careful this time not to swallow so fast and waited for any sort of curiosity from her captor.

“Try not to think about it. When this is all over it will just be us again. We’ll have the whole Salem Center.” “I’m not worried about it. Wolverine can play his little alpha-male pissing contest all he wants; doesn’t change the fact that I’m calling the shots on this mission. Only thing I am wondering about is why Charles thought he’d survive a day running this place. When he told me about the possible re-assignment in Massachusetts I was expecting him to ask Warren to take over…”
Scott shook his head, pulling his uniform on, and zippering the neck. He closed his eyes, slid off his sunglasses, and replaced them with his combat visor. His eyes reopened, once again seeing the world though hues of red. From behind the specs Scott Summers had brown eyes, but it was a rarity to see. It was only after days and days underground during a mission to help the Morlocks, had anyone seen him without the protective lenses. Even then it had been hard; knowing that he was going to have to exchange the shadows for the crimson prison.
Jean had helped, as had Emma. In his mind there were no barriers. The visor was never needed, and he could see the world as it was supposed to be. But it was always a fleeting moment of euphoric joy that never lasted long enough. Maybe that was why he had such a penchant for psychics. Leaning up he kissed Miss. Frost, turning to the echo of Logan’s voice. Eye rolled at the comment. He leaned in to kiss her one more time before walking past and prepping the engines. Before long the team was fully assembled, the coordinates uploaded and the Blackbird took to the air.
~
Before long the sleek jet was zeroing in on the coordinates Xavier described. Scott sized up the area, event he parking lot of the strip motel. Unless he wanted to park the bird on the street they were fucked. “There's no where I can land... Jean, take over. We're having a change of plan.” He ordered his ex into the pilot’s chair, unbuckling and stalking toward the still strapped in passengers. With a tilt of his head he tossed a bundle of reinforced repelling line at Wolverine. “ Let's go,” he nodded to the rest of them, “all of us.” Cyclops pivoted back, matching gaze with the redhead at the controls. “Jean, circle out... we'll radio for pickup.” Without waiting for an answer he clicked in his own line, helped prep the rookies and opened the hatch. “Let's move.”

Jay had just finished cleaning up the kitchen when he heard the mental call in his head. Professor Xavier telling him, and the others they were needed down stairs. Another field mission as Seniors. He could hear Tag and Rockslide talking. Claiming Hellions were going to beat the New Mutants. Stretching out his wings he finished suiting up. Eyes looked over them both as his head shook. “It’s not like out little field days. We’re not in it for points.” “You’re just jealous because the Hellions are winning.” “I earned you that winning point remember.” “Yeah. Then you switched to the loser team.”
Jay shook his head at the duo. Some of them didn’t quite grasp what they were doing. Jay had two older siblings part of X-Men team. He knew all to well. During their debriefing they found out what they were going to be doing and the plan. Rogue. She was an X-Men member. Sam had talked about her before. It wasn’t an exercise at all it was the real deal. This was a rescue mission. Blackbird felt a little tight as they all piled in. He could hear David muttering. Everyone knew David didn’t agree to come to the school to become an X-Men.
“I’ll be fine. I mean we’ve got Mr. Summers and Mrs. Frost along with Dr. Grey and Wolverine. What could go wrong?” Leaning over he whispered to the boy. If only he knew how wrong it would really go. That those reassuring words would be the last he said to the boy besides him. They seemed to be getting closer. The plan changed. Dr. Grey took over flying and they were all ordered to get ready. Jay tossed the rope back to the floor of the Blackbird. “I don’t need it.” As Mr. Summers opened the door and clicked his line, the winged mutant moved. Leaping out into the cold air. For a moment he enjoyed the rush and the feel of it. Diving towards the earth like a bird of prey. Large red wings tucked firm against his back. As the ground started rushing forwards his massive wings spanned catching and updraft. Soaring he watched as the others started to repel out of the specialized jet.

Anyone could see it was a pissing game between Logan and Scott. It had been a long rooted one. The White Queen shifted into her lovers embrace. She deepened the kiss just before she could feel someone getting closer. The blonde knew exactly who it was as he stepped up into the jet. Wolverine. Eyes rolled at his words and she turned. “Mutt.” “Whore.” Emma could have easily put him in his place. As a sneer pulled against her lips. A final kiss from Scott calmed her as she exited to met Jean.
Together the women debriefed the students. Got them ready for what was about to happen. And how the teams were going to be. Hellions and New Mutants. She had full confidence in her Hellions, the New Mutants well. Emotions were mixed. All plans can’t be as perfect as you first think. Scott took charge like the leader he was. Changing the plan as the situation called for it. Leaving Jean to man the jet. A slight smirked fell against her lips.
Together she helped ready the students. Sensing some of the fears and frustrations. Anxiety and concerns. She’d reached out to one mind that was new to her. Eyes looked the direction of the boy sitting by X. The new student Mr. Hudson. As she readied her own line she looked at him. “I know Professor Xavier allowed you to come along Mr. Hudson. However I think perhaps it is better that you stay with Dr. Grey. We wouldn’t want another incident.”

Nori was standing up to go into the house and try to warm up, her petite nose sniffling in the frigid cold. “Come on, you might feel the cold but I do.” A metallic hand reached out, pulling the young instructor to his feet. She was glad he understood her cynical humor and that he seemed to have a great deal of control over his own talents. It gave her hope that the gauntlets she wore might not be a permanent fixture. She was just entering the back door to the dining hall when she picked up the call from Xavier. Eyes scanned back to Bobby. He’d heard it too. “If you’ll excuse me,” she offered before jogging off to change and meet in the hanger.
24 minutes later the ensemble had arrived. She looked over to David wondering if he was learning anything odd or useful from any of the new faces onboard. He seemed stressed out, his eyes dancing back and forth from behind yellow lenses. She wondered who or what was making him so anxious. There were four new people crammed onboard, and any one of them could have affected her squad leader. Clicking out of her seat, Nori stepped into her harness, and snapped in, waiting for her turn at the door before leaping out backward and repelling with some ease to the pavement.
Boots thudded down, her body buckled a little, and she struck her knee, but it was nothing short of a torn jumpsuit and a scrape. The bright sting of open skin only helped to fuel the adrenaline that was already surging though her. This was her first real assignment outside of the Salem Center. This was the real test to know if she was worthy of the X-Men. Breath cut sharply, making her throat dry and her mouth wet at the same time. She looked to Cyclops who gestured for several of them to circle around back and enclose the building while he and the other half took the front. “Yes sir.”
