Post by Logan: Weapon X: Wolverine on Dec 8, 2005 3:34:11 GMT -5
Wolverine didn’t hid the thought that came into his mind about Jean. From years of tension, years of hidden emotions, feelings. Never anything becoming of it until now. Eyes looked up towards Jean as she looked back. Then he looked away once more. The mansion once more felt like home. Warm. Part of Weapon X rather enjoyed that feeling. There was a slight chuckle from the grizzled man about the pop-tart. In the past Logan had done anything he could to get the Boy scout riled at him. So naturally stealing the last package of pop-tarts of his hit a nerve.
The morning was going quite well. There was an easy fell about it. Though somewhere in the back of his mind he was weary about it. Good times never lasted forever. He’d learned too many times with personal experience. Jean had cooked up a storm and Wolverine looked over his plate. Then his attentions turned towards Jamie, who’d spoken up. “Yea. I’m from Canada. Or was.” With him there were so many questions. But with the medical bay destroyed they couldn’t test. At least for a while. What Jean had said still stuck in his mind. That boy standing in the entry of the kitchen could very well be his own flesh and blood.
Not like X-23, who was cloned from his DNA added with that of Sarah’s. Jamie was born with part of him. Part of him didn’t want it to be true. Jean speaking again brought his eyes up. “You know, it’s been a long time since I’ve had to cook for so many I think I kinda missed it.” “Ya did a good job. You even knew how I liked my eggs.” Hand reached for his coffee mug. Taking a drink of the strong liquid. His morning pick-me-up. Shifting he looked towards X who’d tucked herself away in the corner as Jean asked her about breakfast. Wolverine knew this was going to be a big change for her. And getting used to people always being around. Not even he liked it sometimes. Maybe he’d show her the Danger Room. It was one of few places Weapon X could go in the mansion and be alone. She might find the same thing in it he did. Not even he could deny the training that had been drilled into his mind. The need to keep in peak physical shape and sharpness.

Nothing and no one and no where to hide… His feet moved quickly, he knew the motion detectors would catch him sooner or later… but he didn’t care, his eyes fell closed as the sound of the security system locked on. “Crap.” He forgot about those. As he thought about what he could do, his eyes suddenly caught a glance of the two silver lasers on opposite sides of him. “Yeah.. .crap!”
I can’t forget the tears I have cried… Running he quickly threw his duffel over the large fence and he grumbled a bit before climbing it himself. He wasn’t about to ruin the fence any time soon, this place fixes itself enough as it is. Standing on the top of the large concrete fence, he glanced back to the mansion. He wanted to stay-but he thought it best if he didn’t… on second thought, he knew it was best if he didn’t. Tightening his jaw, he turned towards the dense forest and jumped. Once again the landing was harder than he thought.
For you I felt I could have died… He knew it would be moments before they realized he was gone. But it didn’t matter. Technically he was a ward of the state anyway. So well it didn’t matter to him much. It was like moving to a foster family, but the Junkyard liked his works and how hard he worked. His job was always open-he knew it cause well Jasper told him so.
Never left to smile but always meant to cry… Last thing he wanted was to leave X-Xevannah-wait… Laura. God he was so confused about what to call her! He didn’t know anything anymore… even though he just met her, he felt…connected to her for some reason… attracted as well. He knew she would notice-but at the same time he didn’t know if she would care… he wouldn’t after how he had acted. A sigh left him as he trekked through the woods, his duffel over his shoulder.
Never had I cried before… never will I die for you. Eyes scanned the area, he wasn’t taking a risk like last time. He sighed some before lifting a gloved hand to his neck. Man he was uncomfortable about the fact he still had fresh wounds. He had forgotten all about them-but the cold and brisk air caused his neck to ache. “Gah… where is it?” he fumbled in his duffel for a moment before pulling out a scarf and wrapping it around himself. The sting of the fake material around his neck and hitting his cauterized wound… made him twitch slightly. He better get used to the cold anyway, he’d be spending a lot of time out there.

Jamie sighed slightly. It was all still a bit weird. Coming out of a weird sort of coma. Finding that it was actually part of his powers. It was a lot to take in. Especially when you take in the big picture. New home. New Faces. New powers. And for a while it seemed new enemies. He knew one for sure. That man he hit. He was an enemy. In Jamie’s mind at least. And the red and white haired woman he held captive.
"Oh." Wolverine answered his question. Brining up that he himself was Canadian. James Hudson studied the man for a moment before a girls voice said something. It was a girl he’d never met before as she asked if X would like to help her show him around. Jamie’s weight shifted as he silently entered the kitchen. X had tucked herself away near the corner and Jamie found his eyes looking towards her. But he didn’t want to be rude to the other girl. His mother hadn’t raised him like that. “Thanks.” Was all he offered towards her. He was still undecided if he wanted a tour or not. Sure it would be helpful to know where things were, especially if it was for classes. But the prospect of a home cooked meal. And some rest was sounding better.
However, he wasn’t going to get all of that. Breakfast, yes. The rest, not for a while. Form sat in a chair next to X silently. Hands clasped on top of the table as he stared at them. This was getting to be harder than he though. “Listen, X, I know it wasn’t you’re fault…I’m fine.” Blue eyes lifted looking up towards the girl who sat silently besides him. He wanted to know about that ghost. For a moment he felt like that kid in the movie the Sixth Sense. ‘I see dead people.’ Maybe at a later time he’d joke about it. But it was too fresh for him now. “But…I gotta…talk to you about something. Something I saw, when I was…er, you know eh.”

Westchester, New York. The faces might change but the mansion remained the same. Scott Summers ex-team leader of the x-men, and now Headmaster of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters entered the ancestral home of Charles Xavier for the first time with sad eyes. Two things fueled this depression; one, because he was moving on to a different location and he was going to crave this place, and second was because he knew who he was leaving things to. Ever since his breakup with the telekinetic Jean Grey, Scott knew that something was missing… He’d recently tried to fill that emptiness with the attentions of Emma Frost, but really it wasn’t the same. True he loved Emma, but there were times when he wondered what his life would have been if things had worked out.
A hand ran though short cropped hair of mousey brown as the ruby-lensed Professor navigated the halls of the institution he once attended as a student and now ran as Headmaster. He and Charles had just returned back from the Salem Center in preparation for his and Emma’s transfer and it was time for him to pass the torch onto his old flame and the only man who had been a threat to their relationship. His jaw clenched tightly as he opened the door to Xavier’s office. This was not something he was completely jazzed up to do. Jean was the one to turn her back on the X-Men and regardless of how Xavier felt about her, or what feeling Scott still had for her, the fact of the matter was she was out of the loop. How was she the best candidate for the job?
“Good morning Scott. You have impeccable timing, I’ve just now asked Jean and Logan to join me here. Emma should be arriving shortly.” Scott nodded to the man he had come to know in a fatherly sense. “I’m sure they’ll be along shortly. Was everything cleared up with the new student? And what about Rogue, has anyone heard from her yet?” “All in good time Scott, let’s just handle things one step at a time,” Charles intoned. Again Scott nodded. Of course the Professor knew best. His arms folded as he waited by the desk for the rest to arrive.

The trip back to Westchester, New York was fairly uneventful. She knew there were mixed emotions about her joining the School. Even the X-Men. She’d had a difference of opinion and her and in things that were best left in the past. The fact of the matter was, Emma Frost, was a woman who like to get what she wanted. Manipulate the systems even her own powers for things to just fall into her hands. However things were changing. She alongside Scott Summers had been the headmaster and mistress of the school. And while she had her dissagreances with Danielle Moonstar and some of the other staff she did her job.
This time she’d traveled with out Scott. The couple had their happy moments. And she did love him. But that was almost something more. Spite perhaps. All circling around the triangle. Summers, Grey and herself. She didn’t bother including Logan into the grouping. In her eyes he was like a puppy following after Jean all those years. Scott was something different entirely. The yellow cab drove along the street towards the mansion on the hill. A mansion she’d been living in and running over. Why, Charles had asked her to find Wolverine, was beyond her. The man was reckless and yet Xavier wanted to put him as a Headmaster alongside Jean Grey.
She exited and paid her fair moving up the snow covered steps. The white she wore seemed to fit with the atmosphere. Along with the attitude she carried. Emma Frost was an Ice Queen. She held a coldness to her, that if you were on the receiving end one would watch out. Sensing the presences of both Jean and Logan, Emma entered. The white coat flowing behind her. High heeled boots clicked along the floor as she entered the offices. Scott was already there. Lips formed a smile as a hand slid up against his chest, kissing him. “Good morning, Dear.” Form moved as arm rested upon Scotts shoulder, ice blue orbs turning towards the Professor. “Charles.”

When the woman offered up some breakfast, X finally raised her head and eyes. Her silence was broken just slightly as she shook her head and spoke simple words again "Thanks" She moved back to her usual anti-social self, head just lowered downwards, but she was watching someone, she watched Jay as he readied the hot chocolate. That was good enough for her, so far the hectic ways of the world meant that X had no appetite. She didn't have much of one to begin with.
Just as she was becoming content in her own little world, she sensed someone coming close. Not to mention the fact that different pairs of eyes were on her. She didn't shift or move as Jamie came to take a seat. It was a bit uncomfortable to say the least, she felt bad for hurting him. And she felt bad for not being able to help him. She was trained no to make mistakes, not to miss targets. She never missed a target she aimed for with all her might until now. But her attentions were drawn a bit towards one of the girls who she hadn't met. Her eyes raised to look at Sofia who spoke to the Professor with as much smiles as she had before. Narrowing her eyes just slightly she shrugged and looked back down at the table top. Many things running through her mind at the present moment. "Ok." she didn't really care either way. Even X wasn't all that familiar with the place. She had traveled around and explored just a bit but most of the time Kevin was with her, now he was no where in sight.
Just then Jamie said something that caused her eyes to raise and look at him. She tilted her head suddenly to the right as her eyes just stared at him unblinking. What did he have to talk to her about? Was he going to tell her to stay away from him for hurting him, she wouldn't blame him. Or was there something deeper to this, whatever it was X was curious. "I'm sorry." she said suddenly about hurting him before even referring to the fact he needed to talk to her. "What did you see?"

Jean finished up the breakfast stuff and then as she was putting the last of the dishes into the dishwasher and turning to ask Logan if he wanted to go on a morning run with her, she heard a voice in her head. She assumed that he heard it too. . o O (Jean, I need you and Logan to join me in my office I have a few things I’d like to go over with you.) O o . She shook off the strange familiarity that came from the connection. It had been years since she'd had any kind of interaction with a telepath. Jean looked over to Wolverine. Yes, he’d heard Charles.
“God, am I[/b] that disruptive when I do that?” she looked to him with an incredulous expression wondering frankly. For the first time in years she understood (as an adult) what the masses were feeling. Sure she’d had a long time when her mutation was unbearable, when it was all she could do not to go mad because of the voices in her mind, but this new revelation was simply uncanny. “If you kids will excuse us, Logan and I have a meeting to attend with Professor Xavier.” She smiled to the now smaller group and departed.
It wasn’t until she was halfway down the hall that her mind picked up the sense that it wasn’t just Xavier that they were meeting. Her hand hovered over the door handle as she unconsciously felt out Scott Summers presence. Hollow green eyes darted to Wolverine as she felt the color drain from her cheeks, making her already pale skin even paler. All of a sudden Jean felt very uncomfortable. She wasn’t wearing any makeup, her hair was probably a tousled mess, and she just knew that her eyelashes no longer had mascara. Emma was in there; so was Scott. She looked back to the door, swallowed her fear and walked in. This was going to be hard.

“Good morning Scott. You have impeccable timing, I’ve just now asked Jean and Logan to join me here. Emma should be arriving shortly.” Charles scribbled a few more notes onto his daily planner and then gave Scott his full attention. How the boy had grown. He reflected on just how many years had passed between them and he wondered if the boy truly knew how he felt about him. In some ways Scott Summers was a son to him. He was his first student and would always hold a special place in Charles’ heart because of that, and because of how gracefully he’d come into being the man that stood before him now.
Just as his answer to Cyclops was spoken Emma Frost entered and then shortly thereafter Logan and Jean. He offered each of them the same warm smile and then finally wheeled out from behind his desk as not to look so opposing. “I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’ve arranged for this meeting.” He smiled looking to Wolverine and Phoenix “I’ve already gone over some of the preliminaries with Emma and Scott, but what I’m offering are positions here as headmasters, to replace them. I’ve detailed the salary package, and I trust that if either of you have any questions or issues with what I’m offering that you’ll bring it to my attention. Frankly, we’ve grown too big for our britches, and I’ve decided to re-open the Salem center.”

In his own way Jay was paying attention to everything. While waiting for the hot water to boil. Mixing in enough of the powdered chocolate. It was easy for Jay to be the big brother. Look after younger students. Newer students. But part of him wished he could connect better with Nori. It was like there was something there. He couldn’t. Head shook slightly as he finished stirring. There was a plate waiting for him on the table. He smiled slightly and looked up. “Thanks, Dr. Grey.”
He filled a mug for himself, and Sofia. Then one for Jamie and X. Logan and Jean seemed to have other business to attend to as the pair left the kitchen with out much conversation. With Professor Xavier back, well, Jay just figured it might have been X-Men stuff. Picking up two mugs Jay moved towards the silent duo. Setting one down in front of each of them. Marshmallows and whip cream included. Eyes looked towards Laura with a smile. “Careful, it’s hot…” When the boy talked low towards X Jay figured that if he wasn’t involved, he didn’t need to be.
Picking up the other two mugs he moved towards Sofia handing one over towards her as he sat on the stool besides her. Wings hung down behind his back and how he was sitting. Jay wasn’t exactly the nosy type. But he’d do something if he felt it might get someone in trouble or put them in danger. He did that when the Hellions went to break Kevin out. It was why he transferred to the New Mutants. He didn’t like the way Julian tried to run things. Out of curtsy Jay tried to block out the conversation that Jamie wanted to have with X. “Sorry about earlier, Sofi. How was the meeting with you’re father?”

Fork scraped against his plate as he finished the breakfast Jean had made. It was actually pretty good. In one more gulp he finished his coffee looking up towards the red head. As she had leaned forwards to him a voice entered his mind. He hated when Chuck did that. A brow arched towards Jean as she questioned towards him. “Am I that disruptive when I do that?” “Yeah. Pretty much. But hearing a female voice over a male one is better.” With a sigh Wolverine stood and placed his plate into the skin. The kids were all getting settled it seemed.
Jean made their excuse, but his eyes lingered for a moment on Jamie and X. The two sat side by side in a silence. However he never heard what had been brought up. Boots moved along the floor in his typical fashion. He had almost a cowboy strut too him. Jean had been just slightly ahead of him. By the time he’d reached the door she looked a bit pale. “Hey…It’ll be fine.” A warm hand cupped against her neck, and the locks of red hair as he looked towards her. Of course he was feeling a similar notion. First time facing Scott and Emma again. Logan wasn’t particularly looking forward to the meeting. Hand released Jean and stepped back. Muscles in his jaw flexed, causing it to look like his sideburns twitched.
Phoenix entered first. A moment later followed by Weapon X. Logan kept a distance away from everyone else. It was part of who he was. Arms crossed over his chest as he met the visored gaze of Scott Summer. Wolverine’s features had become emotionless. Just steady as he always was when ever Charles debriefed them about something. This wasn’t X-Men business but it was no different. “I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’ve arranged for this meeting.” Wolverine’s attentions went back towards Charles as he explained the situation. The school was growing. Even mutants world wide were growing. Weapon X shifted his weight as he leaned against the wood paneled wall.

Scott straightened up even more than usual when the duo finally entered. His eyes glanced over the pair from behind ruby-tinted lenses, but he gave no indication outwardly that it bothered him to see them. On individual terms he cared about both Logan and Jean, but secretly part of him still blamed the Canadian beast for feeding the fires of their breakup. If anything Scott appeared colder than usual. He didn’t offer a word of greeting, nor a nod to acknowledge them; he simply studied the occupants in the room and listened as the Professor spoke.
Finally when Xavier gave a pause, Scott interrupted. “Professor, what about the recent changes to the med lab? Did you want me to stay behind to help with the repairs?” he volunteered. It was just his way. If there was something that needed to be done, he was the first to step up and take his dues. Perhaps that was why he and Logan disagreed so much. Regardless of their differences, they were both eager to prove what they were made of. “And if Rogue is in trouble, who is going to lead up the team that goes searching for her?”
He glanced over to Emma, hoping that the presence of his old fiancée wasn’t going to cause a rift in their ongoing relationship. He recalled the last time Jean and the White Queen had fought over him and it wasn’t pretty. The psychic battle had left him reeling at the sheer viciousness of women; and some people thought Wolverine was a savage.

Jamie at quietly for a moment. When X had been addressed he didn’t say anything. She didn’t seem the most social of people. Then again, at that time neither was he. There was just too much buzzing through his head. Jamie figured he’d be to his normal self in a day or too. And that what he needed most was rest. Deep down though, he was afraid. Afraid of what he might see when he closed his eyes. Afraid he might be called back by those ghosts. Or the demons. Maybe Professor Xavier could help him erase the images. The ghosts would always be there though. He knew it.
It was an awkward silence between them. He didn’t know how to phrase it. Maybe say it even. Tell her he was seeing a ghost she carried. A ghost of a woman Jamie only knew as Sarah. Would that mean something to her? Would it ease something in him. He’d never been able to find out more. Now while he was on the Astral Plane. But he didn’t want to find out like that. So in some fashion it was better this way. Eyes looked up as the boy with the red wings and hair set a mug in front of them both. Hands closed around the warmth of the cup. It was the first warmth he could remember, besides Jean’s touch when he was stuck.
Jay seemed to understand what ever it was unspoken. That there was something he had to say to the girl sitting next to him. Eyes followed as he left. X’s voice sounded low besides him. Taking in a breath he turned so he could face her. At least in some manner of facing her. “What did you see?” “I saw a lot of things. But, some how…this might sound weird. It’s like, you’re carrying a ghost.” The cocoa mug pulled closer towards him. Fingers laced around the cup. The flesh of his hands warming to the ceramic mug. Voice lowered as he looked down a moment then back up. “X…who’s Sarah?”

Jean both welcomed and feared the touch on her neck. The warmth of his hand made her think of what things were to come when she and Logan finally got some time alone, but the thought of having to explain why on her first night back she’d run into the arms the very man he despised. She just didn’t want to deal with that right now. Once more she glanced back to Wolverine, glad that he could sense her tension.
Eyes looked to Emma and she forced a tight smile, nodding to her in greeting. Before she could stop herself she glanced over the headmistress’s attire and rolled her eyes. That woman would stop at nothing to show as much cleavage and skin as possible. It was enough to make Jean weep for the students she was teaching. Like the others she listened to Charles, and even as he spoke the offer she blinked in disbelief.
Was he really passing the torch onto an ex-teammate and a man who often suffered the curse of wanderlust. At the slight dig about the Med Lab she looked to Cyclops in shock. Was he really going to give her shit about that? She puffed a lock of red out of her face and thought toward Wolverine . o O (Oh like he’s never made a mistake…) O o . “He’s right Charles we’re going to need to make sure that we get a solid team together if were to rescue Rogue.”

The White Queen shifted her weight subtly. Curved hip jutting out as she leaned against Scott. She could almost sense his mind wandering. Thoughts of Jean perhaps, or Logan. White tipped fingernails scratched lightly against Scott’s collar bone. Letting him know she was still there no matter what happened. Platinum blonde hair fell down past her shoulders as she studied the door. Jean was getting closer. As was Logan. Plucked brows arched softly to the sound of the door. And there entered the pair.
Lips pursed slightly at the connection between Scott and Logan. Before her attentions were drawn towards Jean Grey. Emma knew part of Scott blamed Logan, and maybe even still carried something for Jean. But he was now hers, and she wasn’t afraid of letting anyone know it. Emma studied her for a moment. Was the woman actually worried about this little meeting. Apparently so. Mind reached out tentatively. It had seemed as if Jean Grey had gotten stronger. But, hadn’t her physic powers been dormant. How could they have reawakened?
Lashes closed before opening once again. Professor Xavier had started discussions. Talk about the growth and the reopening of the Salem Center. The school had become quite full. With new students entering the door every day. But her eyes looked towards Jean once more. The corner of her mouth twitched slightly as mentally she reached out again. This time making connection with the woman across the room. . o O ( I see Wolverine is still you’re little lap dog. What does he just follow you around hoping and waiting to be thrown a bone? ) O o . Even mentally Emma held that tone about her. One that was almost snobbish. A woman like Emma Frost thought she was better than everyone else. Even the likes of Jean Grey.

“I have no doubt that Rogue is indeed in trouble, I’ve had trouble locking onto her mind with Cerebro and as you well know that although Rogue’s mind is an enigma in and of itself, I’ve always been able to track her. My only assumption is that she’s had a breakdown and the mind is simply too convoluted for be to make a cohesive link. I intend to make sure that we remedy her situation as soon as possible.” Charles ‘whurred’ closer to the group, his voice maintaining its air of dignity.
“In the respects of making the necessary repairs in the lower levels I’m sure with our conjoined effort that the med lab will be up and running in no time. As for the team that is to be assigned, I agree with Scott. I’d like to see you and Logan head up the New Mutants team Jean and Emma with the Hellions.” Charles immediately felt the wave of discontent with the current assignment, but it was the logical choice. The Hellions were Emma’s team and the New Mutants were under Scott’s charge.
