“Alright so what gives? Long lost brother… genetic clone… No, I got it… This is some kind of Danger Room hologram gone rogue, right?” Shawn couldn’t help but smile at the statement the exuberant blue haired firecracker managed to come up with. Impressing people wasn’t something he focused on but every now and then when amazement came Shawn couldn’t help but take it in. Eyes swiftly made their way across the two other bystanders, the newly named roommate and the true Logan. Shawn didn’t really focus on Logan much, he always got and uneasy feeling around the man. Besides non-interest was the only thing expected from the headmaster.
Within seconds another young mutant made her appearance. She was carrying a bag close to her. She slowly made her way to where the group was standing and stopped. “Great… just great. Like I don’t get into enough quarrels with one Logan.” She winked at Shawn and continued on with the true Logan. Turning her comments to Noriko, “He’s just a shifter, we had a bunch of those… uh at the other mutant place I stayed.” Shawn’s smile faded slowly. He knew his power wasn’t amazing but having it shot down like that made him feel crummy for some odd reason. He turned to Noriko and Jay as the replica of Logan quickly faded as he took a few steps forward. He didn’t know why it bothered him so much the feeling slowly turned to anger as he headed for the kitchen.
Before anyone could say a word he clarified, “I’m going to get my stuff, Jay can you show me where the room is?” Without waiting for an answer he made his way down the hall, past a few doors, and into the roomy kitchen. He grabbed what belonged to him and threw it over his shoulder.

X was content in her little world of eating but that world wotas invaded by the sounds of footsteps coming her way. Eyes shifted to look towards the door way as in walked some familiar sights. Logan spoke to her about saving him some cold left overs. Smiling slightly which was alot to say for for X, she wiped her mouth and watched silently with bright green eyes as the crowd interacted with eachother. She never said as word as they exited and suddenly she was alone again in the kitchen.
Turning back to the left overs, she had already finished a few of them leaving only a few still uneaten. A thought passed her mind, oh how she could finish them all off right now. She liked meat, she was fed protein alot growing up so she was used to it and grew accustom. Perhaps thats why she skipped the whole morning ritual of breakfast foods all the time. Discarding the bones in the trash can, the fridge opened once more and she put the plate back in, she would save some for Logan as he wished.
Her eyes caught sight of another delicious sounding object, and taking the half filled carton of milk from the fridge, did not even bother with a glass. She would get more after for them, she knew they had some in stock, groceries were not done long ago and she knew that they knew she was big on two products in life, Milk, and Meat. Of course Water was great too. Putting the carton to her lips she began to chug the substance back. Each pass of the white liquid was so satisfying for her. But soon that satisfaction was also interrupted.
Suddenly her eyes grew a bit wider as someone stalked into the kitchen. Pulling the carton down she just stared at Shawn, white milk moustache on face. Then with a wipe from her hand she glanced towards the door way he was headed towards. Something was bothering him, or something well made him slightly upset, she could tell by his scent about it." He is very good at making people feel better and welcomed. He is a good friend." X sometiems to people who didn't know her would appear to be a bit on the odd side. She never said much not unless she had to and when she did talk it was real sentences but not at the same time. She let her lip pull a bit into a smile before she regained the finishing off of the drink. She knew what it was like to be the odd one out in the group and that was just her way of reassuring someone. Even if she wasn't the best at it.

"He is very good at making people feel better and welcomed. He is a good friend." The voice startled him. The semi rage kept him from seeing her. He’d seen her earlier on the stairs the words she spoke then were just as confusing as the ones now. Who was he? He wanted to ask but he bit his tongue. A smile crossed her face and he couldn’t help smiling back. She meant well he knew it she just had a way with words. “Thank you” he said as he turned towards the door, only to stop and turn to her, “I’m Shawn by the way.” His hand pressed against the door and he made his exit.
He wasn’t in the best of moods. Why would he be? He was asked to come to this school, and everyone treated him like he was just thrown their way. It was easy to tell they were all upset that it was on Christmas, but that wasn’t Shawn’s fault. People didn’t even really care that he was there; he was just another mutant among the masses of others. When he turned down the hallway he didn’t head back to the stairs, instead he took a right. Walking down the long hallway his mind continuously hounding him. With thoughts and expressions. His eyes met the doors that he passed through when he was first welcomed, well let in really. He could probably just leave and they could have another mutant here to replace him. There were tons of nameless faces they could choose from. He smiled slightly, besides like the girl said earlier there were a bunch of shape shifters out there. Why do they need this one?
He hated being cynical about it, but by the looks of the welcome committee it was expected. His head turned slightly towards the room Logan showed him when he first got here. A smirk crossed Shawn’s face as he headed toward the door, leaning in. He tossed his bag off onto a chair as he made his way to a billiard table that was already set. He grabbed a pool stick. If he was going to be here with people that obviously disliked the new guy. He might as well have fun. With that the que ball hit the set with a loud crack.

Jay grinned at the display of powers from his new roommate. It would be his first time at the school having someone else sharing his room. Back home he’d shared one with his older brother Sam. When Sam joined the X-Men it was his younger brother who moved up to fill the spot. Time had a way of changing things sometimes. “That’s cool.” He’d only ever really known about one other shifter, Mystique, she worked with a man known as Magneto. A name almost every mutant at least his age or older knew. “Very funny, Nori. My new roommate, Shawn.” Blue eyes looked up to the Wolverine clone then shifted as one of the other newer faces walked down the hall to the real Logan, making a comment about shifters. Jay could see the features change in the new student after the words before he headed off.
Weight shifted as he pushed himself up from the stairs. Glancing at the brief interaction Stacy had with Logan as he headed down the hall to catch up with Shawn. Sneakers carried him easily down the hall, before he caught up however Shawn was moving with bag over his shoulder to the rec room. Back peddling the winged mutant turned to head the opposite direction he’d come. Hearing the crack from the balls on the pool table he picked up his own que. “Mind if I join you? So when you shift can you copy another mutant’s power? Like my wings for example.” Jay shifted lining up a shot sending the two ball towards the corner pocket. As it tittered back and forth on the edge he spread his wings slightly and the ball fell into the pocket. Grinning he looked up to his new roommate. Usually Jay never cheated, but he wanted to see how Shawn would take it. Maybe ease him out of the funk.
Moving around the table he got closer to the other boy, lining up his second shot. While he was bent forwards over the stick his voice came out in little over a whisper. “You’ll have to give them time. They aren’t usually this bad.” Balls clicked together as he raised turning to face the other dark haired boy, leaning against the pool stick. “Christmas isn’t easy for half the kids here. Either they can’t go home, or they aren’t wanted. You’ll get used to Professor Logan. He’s just got a lot on his plate…” He scanned the room. Most of the younger kids had gone off to play and it was fairly quite. His features were slightly serious as he looked to the newest face to the school. “It’s just been a little tough here.” Jay wasn’t entirely sure how much detail he should go in to, so he didn’t. And he didn’t feel the best one to say people will move on. Because deep down, he still clung to the death of Julia. Looking back up he decided to change the subject. “You got a big family? I come from one…there’s a whole gaggle of us. At least four of us so far are mutants. My older brother and sister, and my younger brother just came into his. Your shot.”

Shawn was overlooking the table. Eyeing the different shots he could take. Thinking over every move even if it was a game matched against himself. He leaned forward a little ready to take his second shot when the familiar voice of his roommate came from behind him. “Mind if I join you? So when you shift can you copy another mutant’s power? Like my wings for example.” Shawn nodded slightly watching his roommate line up for the shot. “I can’t take on the power, but I can emulate the appearance. Take your wings I can make it appear I have them but I sure wouldn’t jump off any buildings.” He watched Jay cheat and smiled. “Wow, what a draft in here there must be a window open.” Walking over to him he stopped and slightly leaned over the table and hit the thirteen ball dead on into the right corner pocket. He cocked his head to the right and smiled, “Your shot.”
“You’ll have to give them time. They aren’t usually this bad.” Shawn looked at him and let out a sarcastic remark, “bad, why who has been bad to me? This place is grand really, I feel the love.” “Christmas isn’t easy for half the kids here. Either they can’t go home, or they aren’t wanted. You’ll get used to Professor Logan. He’s just got a lot on his plate…It’s just been a little tough here.” He looked at the older student and sighed. Regretting his sarcastic remark. “I know how that goes,” he looked down to the floor then back up to Jay. He wanted to say something about his crude remark he knew how it was to be kicked around. But his mouth remained shut as he waited for Jay to go on, only to see the obvious change in subject. A subject he wasn’t really a big fan of. Family.
“You got a big family? I come from one…there’s a whole gaggle of us. At least four of us so far are mutants. My older brother and sister, and my younger brother just came into his. Your shot.” Shawn bit down a little hard when he heard it. He always got somewhat jealous of people who had excepting families. It was just something he really longed for, but he was stuck with a family he could never confide in. He hesitated to answer, staling he leaned over and took his shot missing it completely. Sighing his eyes met with that of his roommates. “My family is great, I'm the only child so I always got the attention." Attention was a funny word for what he got for it was far from the loving attention a family would share. Shawn forced out a smile. The anger he masked, he didn’t want to be one of those people who complained over how bad they had it. He didn’t want to be pitied.
“Your shot,” he said softly.

She huffed when he didn’t respond, just looked at her. Then her eyes shot back to the new kid. Suddenly she felt bad, as if she were putting down his power. She watched him disappear into the hallway and Jay glance at her as if his eyes were shaking his head for him disapprovingly. Letting a small mumble out she eyed Logan for a moment before throwing her hands up. “Whatever, Merry Christmas.” With that she was out of the kitchen.
Turning down the hallway she leaned next to the entrance of the game room. The pool balls crashed and she smirked, but let it fall away slowly. Eyes looked at the boy before her. He was nearly her age, but then again a lot of them were ‘nearly her age’. Sometimes she felt like an asshole. However she suddenly felt like what she was hearing was a straight out coverup lie. Eyes looked Shawn over.
“Hey…” Stacy started as she began to go inside the pool room, sighing. “Shawn, that’s your name right? I wasn’t sure if I caught the right name before…” eyes glanced to Jay before back to Shawn. “Hey uh, I just wanted you to know… I wasn’t putting your power down. I had something else on my mind, and well I’m sorry if it came out that way. I’m an insensitive asshole sometime, and well just wanted to apologize.” Turning swiftly she crossed her arms, “Merry Christmas boys…”

He had remained room bound for most of the day after the brief talk with his mother but that didn't mean that he hadn't kept up with what had been transpiring around the mansion. With so many students about it was hard not to overhear the endless gossip that flowed like a raging river. Piotr had returned from Russia and more suprisingly his sister Illyanna had showed up shortly after. He hadn't gotten any details but he and the Russian had always been good friends and he would be happy to see the man again. There was word of a new student who shared the last name off a blue furball that he knew and he wondered if there was any relation. He still hadn't met with all the students but he would be sure to meet with them all eventually. The mansion was filled with siblings and relatives so he wouldn't be suprised if this new student was another added to the list.
The Christmas holiday was chaotic in a normal place that housed so many people so one could imagine how the institute was holding up. It was becoming more and more obvious why they had asked him to come back. The number of students attending seemed to be at an all time high and he could imagine how difficult it could be to keep them all in line as well as teach them what it mean't to be a mutant in a world that still wasn't ready to accept them. He himself hadn't realized how much effort Xavier had to put it just to keep the original five in line let alone when the numbers began to grow exponentially. There still a bit of doubt in his qualifications to place himself in the role of teacher when he still had much to learn himself but if Logan could do it how hard could it be, eh? He chuckled at that thought imagining the scowl on the man's face were he to hear him say this out loud but for all the jokes that he had in his bag o fun he did respect him and all the other "senior" members. Even though there were a few that he would never tell that face to face.
Spirits seem very high with so many faces about and he had even heard that the mansion had seen it's own version of a Christmas miracle. He hadn't seen it personally but Remy who had been in a coma to the best of his knowledge regained consciousness and returned to the land of the living. The cajun always carried a pack of cards and it was good to hear that luck was still with him. If Kurt was around he would make a comment about the mysterious workings of god and on this day even skeptics couldn't deny the possible devine intervention. For himself he realised that perhaps it was time for him to stop sulking in his room and return to the festivites along with everyone else but he wasn't quite ready just yet. There was nothing that he could do about how his parents felt about him and his abilities and there were many times that he wished he could stay in human form forever and never have to worry about the fact that he was a mutant. One thing he had learned was that he did have a responsibilty as much as he didn't want to admit or accept it. He sighed eyeing the white scene outside his window. When he finally decided to snap out of his funk It would be good to catch up with old friends again.

She stayed mostly in the background, watching with her arms folded. A part of her was wanting to join in the festivities, but the rest of her just wasn’t in the mood… and she wasn’t sure why. Maybe she was still feeling the effects of the turmoil she had been through, or maybe she was just being silly. In light of such an idea, Rogue forced a smile to creep across her face as she passed by a few students and headed down the hallway, her mind set on the fact that the common room was just a bit to crowded right now.
Tucking a strand of white, mixed with a tuff of auburn behind an ear, Rogue fingered her newly acquired possessions as she headed for her room, “ Merry Christmas Bobby.” She offered almost half-heartedly as she passed her friend in the hall before making a turn to the right, down another hallway and to the door of her room and stood there for a moment or two, “ Ah gotta stop doin’ this…” She whispered to herself as she rested her forehead against the wood of her door for a moment, “ Ah’m fallin’ back inta old habits…” Shaking her head at herself, the Southerner turned the brass knob and entered her room with a long sigh, “ I gotta stop playin’ tha role of tha quiet loner.” But old habits died hard, especially is you felt like you were doing the world around you a favor by being closed up… because there are just some things that are better left unknown and unsaid to folks.
Settling herself on the foot of her bed, Rogue found herself wanting to do something she hadn’t done since she had been maybe five years old, if that. Chuckling slightly, the belle flicked a tear from the corner of a green eye and clasped her hands, “ For once Kurt, ah’m tryin’ somethin’ yer way.” Even though she felt quite a bit awkward about it, Rogue sunk from the bed to her knees and bowed her head, “ Ah dunno if this is gunna do me any good, or if ya even got time ta listen ta tha prayer of a mutant but…”And as she kept going a little hint of peace found it’s way into her heart, even if she hadn’t noticed it just yet.

Sofia bit her lower lip in shyness, there were so many people in the Common Room this morning, so many who’s names she didn’t even know, and only a small few who she knew very well indeed. She felt rather pretty this morning dressed in the pretty deep red turtleneck and dark blue washed jeans that her Father’s assistant, Derek had bought her while she had been visiting.
Leaving her hair to fall in a cascade of brown curls, Sofia smiled and graciously wished all she saw a Merry Christmas if she happened by someone, or someone walked passed her, and then he entered the room and once more the graceful teen was biting her lower lip in shyness as she peered at the small, neatly wrapped present in her slender fingers. Doing her best to not show that she was shaking like a leaf in the wind, the South American beauty timidly strolled up to the Iceman and smiled warmly, “Feliz Navidad Mr Drake.” Slowly she held out the small present wrapped in blue and white wrapping paper, which held a silver chain with an icicle shaped pendent on it, and within the clear pendent was some melted snow from the Andes mountains . Once she placed in his hands, Sofia quickly shifted herself out of the man’s vicinity and over to a group of fellow students she knew and poured herself a cup of hot apple cider, watching out of the corner of her eye to see if he liked her gift or not.

They continued the game and Jay looked up slightly. He felt a bit ashamed for bringing up family. Knowing better, not everyone had a good family life. No, some students had rough times at home for who they were, or what they were in the eyes of others. Jay could hear the sarcasm in Shawn's voice when he spoke and the pool balls clacked again as he made his shot. Turning up he watched Stacey enter. Watching as she appologized to the new student then start to head out. "Merry Christmas too."
The winged mutant leaned against his pool que watching her leave. Then his eyes turned back to Shawn. Jay knew that chirstmas wasn't everyones holidays, infact for a good handful of people it was one of the worst. Society even reflected that with the number of suicides each year on the holiday, he thought it was sad, but somethings you just cant change. "You know I think there's some statue thing for one of the students here. He's a talented artist. You want to go? Then I could show you around the mansion and help you get settled. Hey Sophie, come meet Shawn he's a new student."

Shawn’s eyes went from the door to Jay. By the look in Jay’s eyes he figured out Shawn was joking. Though it wasn’t that hard to see through something that transparent. Christmas wasn't easy for Shawn, not cause of his family but more to the fact he didn't really ever celebrate it. At least, the way it was meant to be. The girl had made her statement and left as soon as she had made her entrance. Shawn thought about asking her to join. However pool wasn’t really a three-player game. Deciding against it Shawn looked over to his new friend. Shawn turned to the pool table at the crooked shots he was left with. He smiled slightly at Jay. “Guess we’ll call it a draw?”
"You know I think there's some statue thing for one of the students here. He's a talented artist. You want to go? Then I could show you around the mansion and help you get settled. Hey Sophie, come meet Shawn he's a new student." Eager eyes shifted to the window outside. Seeing a memorial wasn’t really something to brighten the day. He figured it must belong to the two students he was labeled as “replacing." Nodding Shawn turned to the girl Jay was calling to. “Yeah, sure thing man. I could use a tour, Headmaster Logan wasn’t really a show and tell kind of guy.”

"Merry Christmas, Bobby" He glanced up from the magazine he was reading and exchanged a smile with Rogue as she walked passed. "Merry Christmas..." he replied as she disappeared assumingly to her room to sort out the items that she was carrying. He wondered if she noticed the box he had placed for her under the tree. Inside was a new leather jacket. He hoped she liked it. He figured it was just as good a time as any to get off his butt and rejoin everyone else. Seeing Rogue in unusually high spirits he realized that this wasn't really a day for sulking. He moved downstairs towards the Common room and noticed everyone engaged if gift exchange and he was feeling bad because he had only sat out a few gifts for those that he figured to see when he arrived. A gift certificate to a bookstore in Manhattan along with a bottle of flea shampoo for Hank, An ice flame lighter for Logan which would go great with the cigars Piotr had given him although he always thought of Logan as a match man, a WSoPoker set for Gambit which should be useful now that he is awake, a topaz pendant surrounded by ice crystal for Jean, which was more of an inside joke between the two of them dateing back to when he and Warren used to fight over her affections, some and last but not least a gag gift for the Proffessor, a box of Rogaine.
"Feliz Navidad, Mr. Drake." a voice spoke from next to him. He almost ignored it until he realized that he infact was "Mr." Drake. Turning to see the Sofia, the young woman whose abilities allow her to control the winds he smiled and accepted the small box that she offered to him. "Merry Christmas, Sofia. Thanks, you really shouldn't have gone through the trouble. And please just call me Bobby. I'm not so used to the Mr. Drake thing quite yet." She smiled and nodded returning to her fellow students while he eyed the box and carefully opend it revealing the icicle shaped pendant. Smiling he sat it back in the box not wanting it to break mistakingly and held the box in his hand until he could take it back to his room. It seemed as though Sofia wasn't the only one that had thought of him. A bag with an ice tray which forced a smirk out of him, a silver chain which he thought was perfect with Sofia's pendant and a "Merry Crhistmas" card all from Stacy. Piotr had gotten him a new snowboard, a gift that he was all to estatic about seeing as how his last snowboard met an untimely demise and Jean had secured him a season ski lodge pass. Maybe she would join him when he went, if he remembered correctly she was awesome on skis. He certainly had been acting very selfish hiding away from the rest of his "family" just because his other family still had trouble accepting him.

Everyone grew quiet and his body yawned. He leaned against the metal sculpture and even through his thin shirt, a shiver crawled up his spine. He was tired, it was easier for him to get cold. Eyeing everyone he shrugged and turned to kneel.
Eyes fell to the plaque at the base of the Angel’s feet. In memory of Brian Cruz and David Alleyne. Excellent Men, Hard Workers, and Devoted Friends. Truly Loved and Forever Missed. The chisel work was horrible but he couldn’t help it, he had finished that last night as well as all the other presents. Sighing slightly he cracked his neck and looked up.
“Hey guys you don’t have to stay out here for the Dedication… no one would be out here probably anyway so don’t even worry…” but then his mouth shut. He saw the new kid Shawn and flyboy Guthrie coming out towards them…. “Dude…” his body shoved itself up and he walked over towards the two.
Hand extended towards Shawn, gloves were covered in snow but he was sure that the kid would just stare at him anyway. “Dude I’m… sorry about before. I didn’t mean to snap. I just lost a lot the past few years, it just made me tweak… and well I don’t know how to handle new people some times.” He shrugged. “Sorry man.”

She felt better and yet… she didn’t feel any different at all. Sighing, Rogue moved to her window a moment and peered out at the white covered world outside, her eyes tired and full of the thoughts running around in her head. Pushing her curly locks back from her face, the Southerner moved to turn from the window and then stopped cold, “ Damnit.” She had almost forgotten about Kevin’s statue dedication.
Snatching the new jacket she received from Bobby for Christmas, Rogue eyed her window a moment and then quickly decided to use the normal route of doors and stairs to leave the mansion, mostly because she wasn’t sure if her abilities were on the fritz or not today, thus no chances. Moving as swiftly as she could, the belle took in a sharp breath as the cold air met her exposed face as she opened the door and headed straight for the courtyard, slowing her body down to a walk so Kevin wouldn’t think she just remembered at the last minute.
Coming up on the scene of the dedication, her sharp green stare took notice of several things, one not many had gathered and two, it seemed the had another new student with shocking blue hair. Arching a curious brow, Rogue turned her attention towards her artistic friend and smiled, her lips whispering to him a silent Merry Christmas as she stuffed her hands into the pockets of her new jacket and breathed in that drowning scent of new leather, her mind wondering if Bobby had to sell his soul to afford such a nice thing like this.

X had finished what she had done in the kitchen, her thoughts on a few other things at the moment. Mainly on the ceremony that was going to be taking place in not such a long time from now. She listened calmly at the world around here, not many noises were made near. The most were still coming from the Common Room where you could find many of the kids taking joy in what they had gotten. The scents of many of the others she knew were faint, meaning they had either dispersed or went outside somewhere, probably to the dedication ceremony that was to be held today.
She figured in that moment that it probably would be best to be on her own way to it. Afterall, it was for not only Kevin, for the other students as well for their fallen friends. Pulling the leather jacket just slightly tighter and adjusting it a bit as she moved, she didn't really need it. The cold weather around her hardly affected her at all really. Industrial black boots hit the snow and made slight marks beneath her. She didn't have to hide her tracks like usual so she let them stay, never worrying about them. The cold air was a refreshment to her, she liked it really to be honest. It reminded her of well home. Of course she also loved the outdoors so it was not a surprize that a slight smile crept over her usually docile lips. She could hear voices in the distance and smell the scents of those that arrived before her. Kevin was there of course, Jamie, Cessily, Jay..even the woman who had the funny white hair and the new student she now knew was named Shawn.
Her glaved hands tucked themselves a bit into her pockets as she entered the courtyard area where the bunch were. Her green orbs scanning the statue before her. It was rather nice, she had never seen anything like it. She stayed her usual self, silent as ever as her head tilted just slightly to the side. Then turning to look towards Kevin whom made his way to the new guy she shifted her weight and came silently up behind them. Kevin from the sounds of it introduced himself and apologized for earlier snapping. Shifting her weight so she stood slightly afar yet technically beside the new guy, her eyes peered towards him for a moment as without a second thought a name came out of no where from her lips. "Laura." and that was all she would say. Turning her gaze suddenly back towards the statue she stared at it, awaiting the start of what ceremony would take place. That was her way of self introduction, since he shared his name earlier she figured it was only fair to share her own. Then came low words after before anything was set in motion. "Everyone calls me X."
