It was not clear, it was not full of rays of the heated sun bearing down, nor the stars and moons to light up the night. It was dark, dank and full of the occasional flashes of light off in the distance and the low throaty rumble of thunder above.
The large mast held up perfectly kept white sails, which billowed at the prospects of harsh winds aloft. It was going to get nasty and quick. The tall statue of a woman stood at the wheel of her large and most prized vessel, it held a special place in her heart, every last plank of wood. It had been a gift from her father, and it had been the last time she ever saw him.
Slender hands gripped tightly on the knotted wood, her skin roughened from blisters, cuts and other impressions caused by hard work and labor. Captain she was, but she was not above working along side her crew, completely of women to ensure the proper upkeep of her pride and joy," Keep a sharp eye Missy! Watch that storm an' watch them sails!" Her thick English accent drifted with a commanding presence across most of the deck and those that did not hear her, heard her words repeated by her first, second, or third mates.
The large hull cut across the rapidly churning and growing waves as she advanced across the Caribbean towards a port of safety hopefully somewhere near...if this storm got to bad they would have to dock.#nosmileys#nosmileys

William Turner, son of the infamous “Bootstrap Bill Turner”, stood at the wheel of his ship, guiding it gently though the dark waters like a shepherd at his flock. The Caribbean Sea hugged the hull of the Pirate Ship ‘Revenge’ like a silken glove. In his long years as a blacksmith, Will, as he liked to be called, was always fascinated with the idea of life at sea; After some creative adventuring with the Pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, embraced the life himself.
It had been a few hours since his most of his crew tottered off to slumber in their bunks, but Will was restless. His thoughts turned over their destination and the mishaps that might present themselves. Storm clouds were brewing overhead, swollen with rain, the wind was crisper as thick fog rolled in, he feared they were in for a rough night at sea. Will stood at about six foot, his agile frame making him almost built for the sea. Chords stood out on his neck as he craned to make out the horizon, dark eyes noting the flap of distant sails. Snapping from the daydream he squinted at the sight of another boat cutting though the fog.
Instantly his hands went to the whistle about his neck as he blew a high note to alert the crew. “Twenty degrees starboard boys! There’s ship on the horizon… powder the cannons and prepare to defend the ‘Revenge’ if need be!” Will was already turning the wheel as his ship careened to the side, Crewmembers scrambling on deck as he shouted orders. It wasn’t the first time he had to defend himself against the Redcoats; Mr. Turner was now a wanted man… a Pirate like his mate Jack. Charming and trustworthy, he was a good man (like his father), who also happened to be a pirate.
Will’s rich chestnut hair was windblown and shone of the sea air, the locks almost glistening from the moisture that surrounded him. Yes he was brash and bold but when it came time to defend his crew Captain Turner never hesitated. And it was his crew that was taking priority again as the handsome Mr. Turner handed off the wheel to his first mate as well and began to climb the rope ladder.
The leather on his bucket boots creaked in time with the rope ladder as he scrambled higher to get a good vantage point. His fixed stare glanced back to the flapping of his ship’s flag as its heavy material snapped to and fro in the ever increasing winds. As it flattened out Will felt a surge of emotion at the Jolly Roger; sewn by the late love of his life, A woman who died along with thier child in his arms that past year, Elizabeth. #nosmileys

Lighting flashed a good bolt of it, lighting up most of the sky," Capt'n! Capt'n Redd! A ship...she approaching off the starboard side!" Her green eyes instantly shot upwards to her crow's nest a brow arched," Aye says you? What sort of ship.. she be showin her colors?" The dark haired pirate high above Redd took a moment's glance through the spy glass then nodded," Yes'm, pirates and from the looks o'it they readying their cannons!"
Redd gritted her teeth a moment in thought, then looked towards the rest of her crew," Load the long nines! Prepare to defend!" As the words were leaving her lips, her crew had already began prepare to attack or counter attack if needed. Working the ship around slightly, Redd began to make towards the other approaching vessel as a torrent of rain began to fall," Batten down the hatches ladies! We're goin in! Let me know when we're in range." The redheaded Pirate pushed back her long locks as they began to stick to her face and neck from the unrelenting rain as it fell on them...this was going to be one hell of a battle indeed.
" We're almost in range Capt'n." With a nod Redd handed over the wheel to her first mate and took up the spy glass from her hip and peered through it as the began to approach the other ship," Fire a warnin shot! Take out one of their smaller masts." One of the cannons went off on the Peril, the reverb from the shot causing the ship to rock slightly as a single round silhouette sailed through the darkened sky towards the other ships first mast.
" Seems we got ourselves some fellers ladies, you know what that means! Prepare to take'em alive if possible!" A roar rose from those present on deck at the prospects of business so soon again as they had just been in port not a day ago unloading a cargo of slaves in exchange for food and ale.
Redd's sharp stare continued to view the cannonball as it sailed across in perfect line with the shorter from mast on the apposing ship, wondering if this was to be quick, or would they prove to be a challenge.#nosmileys

Captain Turner squinted though the spyglass at the oncoming ship, barely able to make out the sails due to the fog. His eyes widened as he saw the puff of powder from several cannons on the other two boats. Stuffing the glass into the strapping at his belt, Will began shouting down to the crew. He had counted the cannons on the other two, and it was clear, his ship was no match for the one that was closing in.
His only hope was to out maneuver it, as the Revenge was smaller then most sailboats of its making. Rain poured down, drenching him with it’s miniscule kisses of damp. Already her could feel the white fencing shirt her wore was sticking to his back, and the sticky salt water in his hair and on his skin was almost washed away from the torrents of rain. His eyes widened at the whistling in the air. It caught his ear, and as he tried to scramble down from his crook adjacent the crows nest the first cannonball hit. The splinters of wood barely had time to strike him in the face as the main staff was struck a mere half foot from the top of his head. The crow’s nest cracked in two, like a tree falling in the forest.
Will found himself losing grip just as he screamed “All hands brace for impact and return fire!” With a resounding SPLASH! William Turner sank into the cold dark and swirling depths of the ocean, while above him his crew defended the ‘Revenge’. His lungs burned for air as he kicked toward the surface. Coughing and sputtering, Captain Turner swam toward the hull, grabbing hold of a rope as he began to climb to the deck.

Lightning kept flashing as they reached the very heart of the storm, the rain began falling in rivets from the dark clouds now and soaking through Redd's clothing as well as that of her crew. It caused the fabrics of her shirt and pants to stick to her slender trim frame like gloves. It was as though she had dived right into the very ocean itself and just barely climbed back out.
Resting the toe of her black boot on the side of her ship, Redd watched with anticipation of what was to come...obviously their adversary would fire a response in return and it would turn into a full scale battle. As she thought," Prepare for a hit ladies! Incom--" Before she could finish the word, a cannonball rushed through the side of the ship, instantly a small five member team from her crew dispatched themselves to begin instant repairs as the rest of the crew fired back.
The sea swelled upwards tossing seawater on deck and through the hole as it was begin patched up, the waves were growing steadily and each one rolled over the deck and onto her crew soaking them to the bone," Ready grapples and secure life lines!" Redd drew her cutlass with a flourish style and brandished it high a sign to her crew of fearless females affectionately nicknamed "The Amazons of the Seas" that it was time to take action and drastic measures," Fire, hit'em where it hurts girls!" With that a torrent of cannonballs streamed towards the adversary ship.#nosmileys

The neighboring ship was closing fast, several of the enemies already swinging aboard the “Revenge”. "Bring her about boys! We’re no match for those cannons, and we’re takin’ in water!” William’s cultured British voice made barely a match to the surging winds and the din of swords. A strong hand grabbed at the railing as he grunted pulling himself back onto the deck. He was winded, and bruised, but it didn’t dampen his resolve.
Dark wet locks dripped sea water down his back, but it didn’t matter anyway, the billowy white shirt (rolled into cuffs at the elbow) was soaked through, his leather pants, and boots sopping with water. His gloved hand grabbed at the pommel of one of his custom made swords. Effortlessly he drew it from its sheath and jammed it into the deck in a defiant gesture that said, I will not stand for this!
“Drop the anchor and bring her around to the port side… NOW!” he shouted in defiance at being struck by the other ship’s onslaught (warning though it might have been). His eyes glimmered like two black pearls as he sneered. If they wanted to play rough he was game, “Fire!”

They were coming up fast, the Peril was one of the more faster ships in the seas for being as large as she was. And her crew, just as infamous most had heard tales of the crew of the Mercy's Peril and their reputations at some point. Of course their Captain was most notorious, a woman with hair of fire leading a crew of man's worst nightmare and best dream to pillage their towns, their homes and sell them off as slaves for money, ale, food, and supplies.
" Aye..their clubhaulin! Board! I want them alive and on this ship!" Redd was quick to instruct her mates as she took a good hold of a rope and swung herself across as well, her slightly heeled boots connecting with one of the men's chins knocking him backwards and out. Landing, she let go of the rope and began to defend herself as well as take on soon to be prisoners, knocking them out with the hilt of her sword while parts of her crew followed behind to gather the unconscious men and stow them back aboard the Peril.
Soon Redd had worked her way up to the man she assumed to be the Captain," You know lad, you can't fight to well with your sword stuck in the wood." Her tone was teasing as she raised the hilt and moved to strike him," Capt'n Redd if ye've never heard o'me I pity your lot." her movement was swift and yet also very graceful with a deadly essence to it as she stepped forward slightly incase he pulled his sword up right fast all she would need to do is bring that foot back and she would be out of range till he advanced.#nosmileys

William’s gaze watched as the brash woman advanced on him. He simply waited. His form remained at the wheel and he leaned on the pommel of the embedded sword. “Ah but you see, fighting me with the sword wouldn’t be much of a challenge. It would be over far too quickly.” It was clear that as he spoke these words to her he wasn’t boasting, he was simply telling it how it was. “It’s a shame really, You have such a pretty throat, and in a different circumstance I nary a harm it, but you see… this is my ship you’re blasting into.” The handsome man took a defensive stance and parried not with his sword but with a long knife from his boot. He started his maneuver by knocking her sword away from his face, and with a smirk he catcalled toward her.
“Captain Turner, at your service… you’ll be wanting to remember that after I take the spoils from your treasury… after all someone has to pay for all the bloody holes your making in the ‘Revenge’.” With a wink, he thrust toward the breast of the beautiful redhead. Of course he was lying though his teeth. Mr. Turner was a decent man and regardless of what this woman might do to his ship, he didn’t have the heart to harm her… but he would lock her in the brig long with her crew.

Both ships were alive with the sounds and cries of swashbuckling fights. Men and women locked in battle as one or the other fell, it was usual the men who did her crew being expert sword wielders for the most part and the ones who were not did the other things such as repairs or stowing the prisoners away.
Once fallen they were taken below to the gallows as cannon fire echoed all around them as well as the sounds of splintering wood and by the shards flying around her it was obvious it was not her ship, but rather the one they were over taking. It brought a quick smile to Redd's face despite the odds facing they were mopping up the situation quite well.
Redd arched a clearly amused brow," That so Captain Turner? Think again, for it is not my ship that is taking on water as we speak." She smirked," Flattery will get you no where, I assure yo--" His maneuvers surprised her as she moved back and parried upwards causing the steel of her sword to connect with his," Aye.. you seem to have a point Mr. Turner, but a sword is not all I carry." Her free hand was swift at revealing her pistol form her waste, cocking back the hammer and taking aim," Cheating, yes I know, but what can I say.. I am a pirate after all Luv." She merely returned his wink then motioned to her ship," Board, unless ye wanna go down with ye ship and it not be pleasant I assure you." By now the water on deck of the Revenge was shin deep.#nosmileys

“You’ll not be harming any of my crew you wench!” His head flicked to the left as another of Redd’s crew sliced toward him with her knife. Bending himself down toward Amber, he narrowly avoided being gutted like a fish as the knife’s edge sliced easily though the wet cloth of his shirt. His left arm snaked out to push the knife wielding attacker over the railing and into the swirling ocean, catching a slice to his cheek as she fell. It was in that instant that his ship rocked.
Tumbling stumbling toward the pistol and sword wielding woman, William had no choice but to grab hold of a loose rope and in turn drop the boot knife that moments before was pressed to the supple flesh of her neck. If William were more reckless with the lives of his crew he may have perhaps taken her up on the offer. Her words cut to the bone, surrender or die. It was a simple choice. Unless he wanted to be responsible for the death of each and every man under his keeping, he had to withdrawal. Glad he would have been to give up his own life, for the life of a pirate was all that he had left now. Alas, the good man that he was lowered his weapon gingerly.
“Men run up the white flag, and drop your weapons! This is a fight I dare say we cannot win…” His eyes flared with emotion, mixed with anger and defeat as he took in the cool gaze from Redd. William lowered his head, dripping locks falling across his face. “The ‘Revenge’ is yours lass, and I pray that you’re a woman with something left of your humanity and will spare my crew.”

She took a moment to allow her emerald stare to scan over his ship it was basically deserted save for them and soon it would sink, she could feel the stern slowly rising as the bow began to sink causing the deck to slope slightly. Redd bent her knees somewhat allowing her to keep a balanced edge for the moment...however she did not want to be stuck on.
" I shant be harmin' them Mr. Turner, they're no good to me dead, nor are you. Aboard with ye." Yes she had a heart, however she was not about to let it be known. While her girls processed Mr. Turner's men, Redd had William bound and set to the Captain's office and quarters as the pressure from the ocean's pressure on his ship began to splinter the middle," Sink it and be done. Then mop this place up an' check his crew for any injuries and tend to'em."
With that Redd moved towards her chambers where Mr. Turner was waiting, once inside she took a decanter of brandy from a shelf and two glasses," You look cold, drink this it'll warm ye right up." Without anymore words she filled him a glass and sat it before him then proceeded to her desk cluttered with papers, maps, charts and other objects of variety upon it sipping a glass full as well.
Taking a seat in a large plush chair, Redd looked at her prisoner, studied him a moment then stood and circled him," Any more weapons other than your sword?" Just to make sure she ran her slender hands over his form just to be safe than sat once more," Welcome aboard the Mercy's Peril Captain Turner, hope ye enjoy your stay." She would let him say whatever he had too then she would process him as well not with his crew, but in one of the smaller state rooms aboard.
" Captain...the men are processed and in good condition, do you require anything else?" Redd looked up to her first mate at the door and nodded," Good and yes, ready one of the state rooms for Mr. Turner here and try to locate him some dry clothing." The girl nodded and was gone shutting the door behind her and leaving the two Captains alone once more.#nosmileys

As much as it pained him to allow these women to bind his hands and drag him from his ship, he had no other choice. Locks of brown darkened by the water that was soaking them ran into his haggard face. He caught sight of a few of his men, and if the disappointment in their eyes was anything like his, things indeed looked grim. He deliberately ignored her question about additional weapons, and made no move to drink the brandy.
“Keep it,” is all he said. His form was slumped slightly, but at her abrupt searching of him, warm hands traversing over his form to search out any hidden blades. That and it had been a long time since a woman was this close to him. He sharpened his breath and shifted a little tucking his wrist blade harder against his skin keeping his forearms pressed against each other. A steel glare bore from his chestnut eyes, the pupils highlighted by the adjacent candle’s flame as if signifying his own inner rage.
He felt like a caged animal, and the dark side of him knew that this was quite a dangerous thing. It was this type of rage that fed him in the fight against Jack Sparrow. It was this rage that forced him to stand up to Barbossa, and it was this rage that fueled his ship and his crew – the last thing he had left now that Liz was dead.

The redheaded pirate sat tall in her seat, the manner of her body language almost aristocratic to a point. She did have a tendency to carry a bit of an air about herself, but rarely did she show it that often. However presently she was feeling rather pleased with herself, her accomplishments soon both herself and her crew would be set for a good long sail; possibly to the East Indies. She hadn't been there for quite some time now.
Her gaze remained asserted on Captain Turner curious as to what his reaction to all of this would be. Anger most likely, or he would break down and cry begging for his life and the life of his crew.
Redd arched a brow," Very well." With that she poured the brandy back into the decanter not spilling a drop as she sat the bottle back on her desk, then took a sip of her own glass before speaking again," Cat got your tongue?" She studied his movements a moment, watching his arms shifting...he was obviously trying to hide something or he was uncomfortable," Those bonds are a bit uncomfortable aren't they?" The thick British accent inquired of the man, but without waiting for an answer she stood and proceeded over to him and loosened his bonds a bit, but not too much incase he tried something," Better?" The Captain asked him while taking a seat on the edge of her messy desk before him.#nosmileys

William watched her move, her mannerisms almost prissy for a pirate. He didn’t like her. He hated her. So smug and full of herself… oh yes she was going to have to work for this meal. His teeth grit together as the eyed him up and down again. Weighing him? This was brilliant… absolutely brilliant. William’s eyes watched as she walked to him again, and loosened his bonds? Either she was stupid, or had the soft heart of a woman regardless of her previous actions. He was voting for stupid.
“Oh I see. This is the part where the Captains have some sort of proverbial pissing contest. The aftermath being the excuse to send the other down to the depths of Davey Jones’ Locker; Trust me darling, I will not be taken so easily.”
With a flash of silver his bonds were cut and the blade was singing though the air, followed by the powerful arm and graceful form of William. Woman or not he was attempting to grapple with her, and get her into a position where his blade was at her throat and he could use her for a bargaining chip.

Her long legs covered by the almost skin tight material of the black pants she wore crossed in a lady-like fashion as she rested on the desk awaiting for her captive to say something, if he tried anything she was ready. She was aware of most tricks, she had pulled a few her self here and there.
Once again she reached back for her glass of brandy and sipped at it, her eyes of green never leaving him, watching his every move. At his sudden movement, Redd tossed the brandy away, the glass breaking against the wall of the room. So he was going to try and pull something fast was he? Well he certainly had another thing coming his way, he was her prisoner and as such he was going to act like one.
Her movement to dodge his blade put her to his right, her own hand now brandishing a dagger as well," No it isn't a bloody pissing contest...however if this keeps going it might turn out that way." And she would be sure that it would be a contest he would loose," And don't call me darling."
She stood ready to defend herself, he had no wear to run, if he tried to flee her quarters he would be apprehended by her crew he was stuck," An' tell me Capt'n Turner what do ye plan to do if you get passed me or slice my throat hmm? After all you are on me ship run by my crew. It'll do ye little good." He was a bit feisty for his own good she deducted quickly and it would prove to be his downfall.#nosmileys
