For a moment he just stood there… body ached still after his own kidnapping weeks before-he hadn’t let himself rest since then… and the poison that still lingered in his system were having their effects. Sometimes he woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, thinking and believing she had been in there, watching him, and one night-he even was convinced the bite marks on his body were fresh not the old ones. He was loosing it, but he wouldn’t let anyone know.
" Hey Kev" his friends voice rang out, bringing him back to the here-and now, watching her wave and then head off towards that red girl. He himself had no qualms with her, yet no need to talk to her either. It was just how he was, take it or leave it.
Shrugging everything away, his eyes fell upon another familiar face there-Rogue. She seemed just as lost as he was feeling, and perhaps, she just needed to talk again? Who knew, all he knew was he was going to follow her. Yet surprisingly the southerner didn’t notice he was following her. He was confused, she should’ve noticed something. Biting the inside of his cheek he followed her all the way to the roof. What the hell was with the roof being ‘the spot’ to calm down lately? His head shook it off and he followed her till he decided to sit down and watch.
She looked so lost at the edge of the rooftop. What was on her mind? What brought her up here? His brow arched slightly and he watched her sit there in silence for a long time, before finally talking. “So… you wanna talk?” he said softly, trying not to scare her since she was, after all, on the edge. He knew she was hurting inside, and so… he wondered, what had caused so much pain today for her. There was always something new on her plate besides the obvious… what was it this time? What was in that red head of hers.

Sofia smiled, she was feeling better… somewhat. Thing was she had a lot of pressure on her shoulders right now. Tons of it. She was someone a lot of the others looked up too, a team leader, a friend, a strong shoulder to lean on. Question was… could she handle it? Lately she had heard rumors, comparisons being made about her with others, people she looked up too. And now… she was alone, before she had David to fall back on when she couldn’t lead the New Mutants, now she had to fall back on herself. A lot of pressure indeed.
For now she decided to push it aside and try to have fun, it is after all Christmas. The tree was decorated, the star waiting to be placed atop it and for it all to be plugged in. She picked up a few things, not everyone was happy. Rogue certainly wasn’t, but who could blame her? She had went through a lot and lives had been lost in her rescue, but Sofia really didn’t know how to help her… mostly because she didn’t know the woman very well. At least Cessily was frowning a little less, perhaps she ought to be nicer to the girl more often despite them being on different teams.
Soon the crowd began to disperse, decorating all done. Some went to see what cookies they could get, others off to pack to go visit family and some like Sofia headed off to their rooms to finish preparing presents they had for friends. Once inside the room she shared with Laurie, the brown eyed beauty pulled a small sack of presents from under her bed and checked them over. Leaving Laurie’s on her bed for her, Sofia headed back to the Common room, almost colliding with Kevin, “Oops. I’m sorry!” He seemed in a hurry and obviously hadn’t realized that she had ran into him, “ Strange…” Luckily all of her gifts were still intact as she bent down and picked them up from the floor and made her way into the Common room to place them under the tree, the small interaction with Kevin still seeming rather strange to her because usually he was so careful not to touch anything or anyone.
Once the gifts to her friends were placed neatly underneath the tree, Sofia decided too talk to Cess about her strange incounter, “Cess… has Kevin been acting odd lately? I mean not like himself?” Perhaps it was nothing and maybe she was just reading too much into it, but maybe not.

For a moment she cursed herself silently, it was cold and she hadn’t thought about grabbing a coat, or even a blanket. Shivering slightly, Rogue wrapped her arms around her perched leg and hugged it closer to her body. At least she had shoes on and a sweater, but the legging like pants she wore did little to shut the cold out from her lower body. But soon she ceased in her shivers and grew numb, a feeling she welcomed a little too often lately. Being numb had it’s perks though… you can’t feel when you’re numb.
Green eyes stared out at the world dressed in white, for once she felt little comfort and love for the snow. The only solace she found in it was the numbing cold. She knew what was bothering her and somehow it made her feel stupid to think that she, Rogue felt so empty because Remy wasn’t… couldn’t be at her side this year. He made the season fun, he always seemed to make it all worth it, even if they happened to be fighting as they almost always did.
Silently Rogue chuckled and shook her head, she wasn’t like the rest, she never got to attached always afraid of getting hurt or hurting that someone and yet here she was sniffling about a guy… talk about being attached and the funny thing about it she knew she always had been. The sad part of course about it all being she hasn’t exactly been fair to Remy through it all, for years they’ve known each other, a part of those years as team mates and friends, but the majority as more than that. Yet all that time she’s kept herself closed up to him, hell more than half the fights they’ve had were started by her… her and her lack of trust in others, and for some reason especially him. Again she has this thing against getting hurt and there’s nothing worse than getting your heart cut out.
But now… now when she really wanted him there, truly discovered that yes she just might need him… he wasn’t able to be there, “Damnit.” The Southerner cursed slightly aloud as she kicked a patch of snow off the roof and watched it fall with a crunch to the ground below. She wasn’t this sort of woman… she never was and yet here she was being exactly what she thought all along she wasn’t, talk about having your foundations shaken.
Hearing the crunch of snow behind her, Rogue quickly wiped at her eyes as discreetly as possible and waited for the person to make themselves known, although she had a fairly good idea on who it was, “ Not particularly… ah’m just bein’ a foolish woman.” She gave a sardonic little chuckle, “ Never think ya can fall in love kid… cuz ya always end up fallin’.” Shifting a little, she crossed her legs Indian style letting her arms drape over them, “ An’ then ya end up lyin’ to them an’ fightin’ all the time b’cause yer so fulla secrets… b’cause yer entire life is built on secrets.” Staring out at the world before her Rogue grew silent sure that Kevin wouldn’t understand… no one ever did, not even Logan who’s the king of secrets and surprises and the only person that might she has constantly shut out keeping him at arms length in every aspect.

Its not easy to hide tears from anyone. Specially Kevin, he seemed to be attracting the crying ones lately. What was going on? Why was she trying to hide the fact she was crying? Kevin slowly moved towards her, he saw the obvious-another thing she tried to hide… she was shivering. Taking off his own leather coat he placed it over her shoulders and sat down close to her.
The nylon shirt he wore was very… well lets just say not the warmest of his clothes, however he dealt with it. Southern hospitality he supposed slightly to himself. He never would let her see him shiver. Eyes looked at the wanna-be-woman… she was still a young girl. “ Never think ya can fall in love kid… cuz ya always end up fallin’.” He shook his head, he knew what that was like… but he was still a boy who just had infatuations. Yeah alright he was once in love-but she never returned that feeling to him, and he’s gotten over it lately.
“ An’ then ya end up lyin’ to them an’ fightin’ all the time b’cause yer so fulla secrets… b’cause yer entire life is built on secrets.” Rogue continued on, rambling, on a tangent… whatever it was he continued to listen. His head bobbed in random nods-though he didn’t agree, he knew what she meant. He could remember ”Did you really kill your father Kevin? I mean honestly, you don’t have to lie to me…” and he still would say no. Only those who could read his mind knew the truth. He had to continue to say no, he had to! Otherwise the FBI would be after him again and there would be no where for him to hide, he would be taken away and well… he didn’t want to know what came after that well.
“What do you have to hide?” he muttered softly, pulling his legs closer in on himself. He eyed her with wondering green orbs. “I mean, I have stuff to hide from the majority of people… but… but in the long run I know there are some people I can trust. Yeah sure, everyone needs secrets in their lives, but why build your entire life structure on it?” He grew silent for a moment trying to place his words. “The man you love is a lucky man… but give him respect and let him know… by letting him in a little bit.”
He grew silent and stayed that way now. Like he was one to talk. He hid it from everyone but… well her the truth about his dad. Only a few people knew, and those were the people that mattered, they were the people here. Some people he knew he could trust… except for Dani… memories flashed back to when she used her own powers on him. Made him relive the day of killing his father-but this time it was that one he loved he was killing instead.
The cold brought him back as he sighed. It would be far too early if he saw Dani any time soon. And it would be a miracle if he would talk to her too.

Numbness had set in… she was probably going to end up with a cold, but oh well it would last maybe a day if that. Got to love the perks of a healing factor, even if it’s only a small one. Tucking her long hair behind her ears, Rogue sat up straight and looked at her young friend… she assumed she could call him that anyhow, “ Thanks… but here, ya got on less than me.” She carefully placed his jacket back around his shoulders and smiled, “ A lot sugah… a lot.” By now the tears had stopped, but she was still sniffling now and then, “ Mah life ain’t no peaches an’ cream.” She shuddered, memories surfacing which hadn’t in many, many years.
“ Trust is a two way street with me, and let’s jus’ say b’cause of events mah trust isn’t so easily earned. Nor is others trust with me.” Not only was it a two way street in her world, but also a two edged sword, “ Ah wasn’t…” Green eyes fell onto the young man, “ Ah wasn’t always this person, but most everyone knows that here. An’ part of the person ah was is no more… she died an’ whut was left b’came Rogue.” Another sardonic laugh left her lips, “ Misery found good company in me ah guess… cuz since that day when everythin’ changed she’s always been there comin’ in tha back door ta mah life.” A small smile crossed her face, “ When it rains, it feckin’ pours.”
For a moment Rogue found herself taken back by Kevin’s comment, “ Yer right…” She whispered, “ But it’s complicated, not sure if ah’d git tha same courtesy back.” Now if it had been someone who knew her history with Remy then they might agree with her comment, but were Kevin didn’t have a clue except for rumors, she knew he’d be a little lost, “ Sorry, ah’m not meanin’ ta dump mah emotional baggage on ya.” And then she to grew silent, her mind wandering, diving deep into things she’d rather not think about really such as what if he doesn’t wake up? Could she live with herself never having told him the truth, never having let him in or let him care and for that matter anyone. Looking over everything now, reflecting as she was Rogue realized she had become a bigger mystery then anyone else here.
Standing, she brushed the snow from her legs, “ Whut do ah hafta hide? Parts of who ah am… an’ lettin’ them go would be like pourin’ salt in reopened wounds.” Folding her arms, the Southerner pondered wither to go inside or stay put, either way she figured he’d follow her… why she didn’t for the life of her know.

He listened and nodded. “I heard of him then met him once… your beaux… but I never got to know him. Not saying I know you, but I do know you a hell of a lot better. However… its your choice on the path you go with it. That’s all I can say.” With that he grew quiet and felt the coat go back on him. He shrugged it off, if she would rather be cold, so would he… it wasn’t right for just one of them to freeze.
“Things are meant to be complicated…” for a moment he stopped and thought about everything she said. She was saying so much by saying so little. His eyes trailed the snow for a moment, and for a brief second, he thought he saw someone from his past… but he was wrong. “One day, if you’re ready… I’ll listen to everything… even if that means I have to have my mind wiped five minutes later… but it’d be nice to hear your name one day…. Your real name.”
With that he grew so silent it was disturbing, why did he think he saw him here of all places? He was dead damnit and should stay dead for all he cared. A moment passed where nothing was said between the two of them until she broke the silence. “ Whut do ah hafta hide? Parts of who ah am… an’ lettin’ them go would be like pourin’ salt in reopened wounds.” Taking a breath he cracked his neck and watched her get up. “Sometimes to truly forget things… you have to revisit them….”
He didn’t move, he didn’t say anything, just watched her walk off a bit. “I’ll… meet you inside.” He stated softly before resting his arms on his knees and squinting his eyes. Was he just getting paranoid? What about –her- did she have something to do with how she was feeling lately? He was so confused… just a young boy with many ways out, but only a few ways to stay in.

Cessily saw the smile form a bit on the girls lips. Ahh so there was life in a pleasent way in the girl and not such a down looking time. Smiling a bit more she watched as the girl suddenly moved and took something from a little boy. Then she began to sketch on it, seemingly writting something down.
Cessily watched her attentivly, trying to see what she was doing. She was making words and letters on the play doh she had confinscated. With a slender brow slowly raising a bit the doh was offered her way and she read the words in her mind. She didn't say a thing at first before she laughed gently and looking up at the girl brightly. Cessily was sometimes very pleasent and friendly with people. Especially those that shared similar things like her, and that were on her team. "Merry Christmas as well...Penance. My name is...." should she tell her full name. Nah there was no need for that. "Mercury. Its nice meeting you."
Just then there was a familiar voice behind her and her upper form and head snapped around to stare at Sofia. She was asking about Kevin, why would she care? Sofia reminded her of Dani alot, well in a way anyways, and Cessily didn't like Dani. She didn't like the fact that she tried to pretend that she cared when she really didn't. Without much of a reaction at first she decided now was not the time to start in on the world. "I noticed him acting a bit odd lately, yeah..Why? Did he say something? Is he ok?" a flood of concern moved over her face. She told him she'd always be there for him and damn it she would.She was a woman of her word.
"Oh..uh Sofia..This here is Penance by the way." She gestured towards Penance slowly as the girl just seemed to stare at Sofia. She would know soon enough that after Christmas it was back to normal, the New Mutants were the Rival and they were the Hellions.

Sofia found herself caught of guard by the strange looking… woman perched on the windowsill, “Hi. Merry Christmas, I’m Sofia.” She smiled perhaps too quickly as she turned her attention back to Cessily who was acting very nonchalantly about her concern towards Kevin as if Sofia shouldn’t even entertain such a thought. For a moment the South American native found herself annoyed by Mercury’s attitude, but then again Kevin was the subject of several trysts which included Cess, Laurie and Josh. But Sofia wanted no part of that… she had to deal with her own feelings towards other people as it was.
Without realizing it, Sofia’s hands had taken position near her hips an obvious sign she wasn’t pleased with something… mostly because it was the same stance she took when ever Julian was annoying her, “ It’s just I ran into him in the hallway… in most all sense of running into someone. He paid it little mind… that’s just not like Kevin, he’s always so careful.” Once she had given her reason, Sofia studied her peer’s face and of course found little, but knew exactly what the girl was thinking… when Christmas is over everything goes back to the way it was before. Funny thing was, Wind Dancer really didn’t want that to happen.

She liked this Mercury girl. Mercury. What an interesting name. Eyes squinted thoughtfully before she figured it must be the metal she turns herself in to. Penance found it redundant but it wasn’t her name now was it. Eyeing up the girl she named as Sophia… Penance felt the worry in Mercury’s voice as she was talking about one Kevin.
Eyes squinted again. Maybe she should check around for them-if only she knew what… oh wait! Kevin was the one in the middle of it all the other day. Eyes glanced to the window, she wondered if she could talk to the trees still-it had been so long and well… she didn’t know. However the ‘talk’ went on between the two of them and her attention went back towards the two. ”Hi Penance, Merry Christmas.”
To Penance ,she was slightly put off by this Sophia person, and her eyes narrowed slightly, though one could hardly tell… yet the obvious silent snarl that came across her lips was a dead give away that the stance Sophia took wasn’t pleasing to her.
Yvette! You’re still in this body, stop that… stop being Penance. There’s a difference between us two… stop it! However Penance didn’t. Yvette WAS Penance. She had been inside that body for so long that that was just who she was. Feral or not… this girl was going to have Penance so far up her ass if her body language didn’t change.

She stood there, her body turned in the direction of the setting sun. She marveled at the colors that became casted across the sky and the beauty of their reflection on the pristine white snow. For a moment she found herself carried off to another time, not that long ago when she had come up here to escape and the revelation it had brought her in the end. Now here she was facing another startling revelation, but this time the source was different from the two times before now. The roof was a special place in her heart, up here above the world she has found comfort, love and advice. Each time she has left with something new and this time would be no different.
Nodding, Rogue turned and headed towards the door which sat slight ajar, pulling it out she paused just before going down the first step to glance over her shoulder at the boy who was more of a man then he realized, “ Merry Christmas Kev.” Her thick accent was soft, but she knew he had heard her as she shut the door behind her and headed down to the living quarters level of the mansion. Once inside, the southerner headed for her room her mind full, fuller then it had been in a very long time. Would they think any different of her if she let herself open up… of course she knew that answer, they wouldn’t. In fact they’d be happy, she’d find open arms where-ever she turned… after all isn’t that what being part of a family meant? People always cared about you.
For a very long time Rogue stayed on her bed, she wanted to do something… something nice for Kevin. After all he deserved it the poor kid, but she didn’t necessarily feel sorry for him either it was more like she understood where he was coming from. Sighing, the southern woman stood and walked over to her closet, tomorrow was Christmas and thus there would be Christmas dinner and so something nice to wear was needed. Finally deciding on a black skirt and a red turtle neck, Rogue turned and sat the clothing on the chair and sighed, for the life of her she couldn’t think of anything really… what do you get a teenaged boy who turns most everything he touches to dust? It was indeed a complicated thing… plus it was Christmas eve, no time to go shopping. Tapping her slender index finger to her chin, Rogue thought about various things already in her possession that the kid might enjoy, “Ah-ha!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About ten minutes later holding a small box wrapped in green and red Christmas wrapping paper, Rogue headed back in the direction of the boys’ dormitory wing. She spotted a few curious glances, most falling on the present in her hands, but not a lot of attention was given at the presence of a teacher in the hallway. But of course she knew what would gather more attention… the fact she had to ask what room was Kevin’s, “ Um excuse me hun, whut room b’longs ta Wither?”
The blond student eyed her curiously a moment, “ Um… that one.” He finally answered and quickly stepped away, his eyes curiously staring at the woman known simply as Rogue.
“ Thanks an' Merry Christmas.” She smiled and went to the door of the room pointed to and carefully turned the handle and went inside finding a room typical of a teenage boy, slightly messy, clothes and magazines here and there along with curious metal work, “ Talent fella ain’tcha.”
Cursing herself for musing a bit too much, Rogue did what she had come to do and left the smartly wrapped box which contained a thick bracelet with the X-Men emblem lazer cut into it made of titanium on what she figured to be Kevin’s bed. It had been a small token of accomplishment given to her when she graduated from just being a student under Xavier’s tutelage. Satisfied with her token of friendship towards the kid, Rogue took one last look at the box she had wrapped so neatly and to the tag… for a moment she hesitated, pondering on changing what it read, but then thought again and closed the door behind her leaving it to read; To: Kevin From: Anna. Merry Christmas Kid.
From there Rogue decided to head to the kitchen and see what she could get of Jean’s unburned cookies and some hot cocoa.
Piotr looked at the rather big painting which stood before him thanks to his computer access he had managed to fit everyone who was around in the picture. He put the final touches of the professor in the center. Stepping back he smiled widely, very proud of his work. He cleaned up and walked out of the room, allowing the painting to dry. As he walked back towards the main entrance he looked at his watch and sighed slightly. Christmas eve......Logan was obviously occupied......and Jean would be trying to put all of the children to sleep by herself......The children seemed to like him, and he could hear most of them gathered in the rec room. As he walked down the steps he could see them looking at the tree and out the window at the snow. He could still smell the lingering scent of burnt cookies as he entered the rec room laughing slightly. "Alright children.. It is time to go to sleep, it's getting late." Several of the children protested, and for a short moment Piotr feld like he should let them stay up, after all it was christmas eve, and his parents would let him stay up back when he was a child....still that was then, and this was now. Despite the protests he managed to get them into their beds, although some put up a struggle. He began to look for the last student which he saw.....He hated the ones with speed powers.......they were so hard to catch. ~Jean, i got a fast one somewhere aroun di just cant catch~ he said to jean in his mind as he continued to try to get the student, hoping she hears him. The sooner the children got to sleep the sooner he could move the painting into the rec room and put out the little trinkets for whoever wants them that he brought back. He loved christmas as much as everyone else naturally. Although he always prefered to give than to recieve. As he saw the little speedster he began to try to catch him. "some of these children.... i never remember behaving like this" he muttered under his breath as he tried to catch up.
The smell of burned cookies caught her senses as she reentered the common room. Color flushed to her cheeks as the utter embarrassment of being that distracted came to her. It was so unlike Jean to forget something as crucial and potentially dangerous as that, but she’d been so self-absorbed with seeing Heather, and then the return of Colossus…. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t’ mean to …I’m never going to live this down am I?” she laughed along with the group, finally allowing the minor worry to slide. It wasn’t that big of a deal. Embarrassing, but none the less a small thing.
Gifts were being placed under the tree, the sound of laughter and positive conversation made for a welcomed relief to the newly appointed headmaster. It seemed that everyone here was for the most part in a upbeat mood, except for the few hints she picked up on from Rogue and perhaps a few more. Mainly the bouts of discontent were from students that missed their families, but for her close friend Rogue it was a little different. There was always something bothering the girl, but Jean surmised that it might be a bit more on the heavy as of late considering the recent events and her lack of touchstone; Gambit.
Jean walked into the kitchen passing the melding pot of senior students, and amused expression on her face due to the usual antics. “If you all don’t mind I think I’m going to grab myself a nice hot cup of tea and head to bed. Try not to stay up too late?” She backed out of the room, smiling in her girl-next-door manner. It didn’t take long for her mug of steaming Earl Grey to be ready, and as she exited toward the main hall, she began to make her rounds gathering up the younger female students. One by one she tucked them into beds, after reading a bedtime story of the Night Before Christmas, and then much exhausted made her way toward her own room.
The mental call from Piotr made her pause in mid-stride. . o O (If you’re referring to Dashiell Parr I believe I can be of some assistance.) O o . Jean’s eyes closed, winking out the orbs of sage green as she scanned the active minds within the mansion. Dash, as he was nicknamed was very hard for her to get a bead on when he was running. It was almost like trying to grab at a fish as it darted past your toes, but after a concerted effort she finally made contact with the child. . o O (He’s hiding in the kitchen cabinet… under the sink. I’ll be right down to assist you in case he decides to run off again.) O o .
He heard her leave… he heard many things… and lately was seeing so much crap go on. ”Merry Christmas Kev.” For christs sake he just lost two of his friends! Sure he’s a Hellion, but he was a New Mutant first… and David was a buddy of his, not to mention Brian, what fun was there at the academy without Brian. Things this year were just going to be so off.
His body shifted on the snowy rooftop. From here he could see the covered winter statue he had constructed… merry christmas. A sigh escaped his lips… so many things just hadn’t been the same for so long, and now… now it was all changing so fast. Taking a breath Kevin wished he could just go away. None of this would have happened if he hadn’t gotten kidnapped… but then, they wouldn’t have Rogue here. He was so lost in his thoughts.
Closing his eyes he let a tear slip out… one for his father every Christmas Eve since he lost him… one for every time he relived the nightmare of killing the one person he knew loved him. Damnit. “DAMNIT!” he yelled so loud the grounds got quiet and the birds flew from their trees in a chirping heap. His fist pounded on the roof hard and snow tumbled down the slight incline, but he didn’t care. His hands went straight to his face and wiped off that single tear.
His body stood. For some reason he looked different, cold, and not in the temperature sense, in the sense that his emotions just died. Why couldn’t that have happened long ago? Maybe Rogue was right, forgetting the past left open wounds fester-but it hid them from the salt of reliving the pain. Picking his coat up, he finally puffed out the cold air and entered the warm building through the same door Rogue had done so nearly half an hour before.
Time had flew and he yawned slightly. It was rare that he was tired, but none-the-less… he was. Sighing softly to himself he felt the fatigue hit him fast. Stretching he walked through the dorm hallway as a blonde kid one year his younger stopped him, cautiously. His body flew around, he seemed to have the demeanor of Hellion today, now at least. “What?!” his voice snapped as the kids bright blue eyes widened.
“Wither… some girl with a white streak in her hair… that teacher Rogue. She went into your room when you weren’t there… Is something going on there?” Kevin’s green eyes beamed fire, if they could have, towards the boy before he took off. His body turned back towards his own dorm, where it seemed someone had left the door slightly ajar. Eyeing his door he saw a white note on it.
Dear Mr. Ford, Tomorrow is the unveiling of the present you created for the class this year. We do appreciate your talent and hope you continue on in your works. Please be there while we unveil it after the opening of the Christmas presents tomorrow morning. The unveiling will be at 11am sharp. We expect everyone to attend who is close to you. Please tell your friends and loved ones, as well as many of the students. We will be announcing it over the loud speaker in the morning at 10:30 am. Sincerely, Staff
Kevin’s face dropped and his eyes rolled. Was this what Rogue went to his room for? The paper was crumbled quickly and thrown behind him in the hallway as he stepped into his room. Why would she have opened the door then? His brows knit before he slammed it shut and began to strip. The door slamming brought silence to the boys dorm hallway-it was nice for once. Then he turned and saw the box.
What was in there he didn’t know, but his eyes drifted to the tag. Moving quickly he put on his gloves once more and picked it up, opening the tag. To: Kevin From: Anna Merry Christmas Kid His brow rose before he ungloved his right hand and touched the paper wrapping. Just like he knew would happen, it withered away into dust as did the box from his touch.
A brow rose again, before picking up the bracelet. The X-men logo was engraved on it. Was this for him? He supposed so. Taking a breath he put it on and smiled. His first real Christmas gift this year… he got flustered for a moment before throwing on a long sleeved shirt and running out of his room. The kid he snapped at was in the hall, and saw Kevin coming out, that caused him to turn to the opposite direction. “No wait! Ryan! I’m sorry…” Kevin said between breaths as he jogged down the hall. The kid slowly stopped and turned around.
“Really? You seemed mad.”
Kevin nodded and smiled, looking at his bracelet, “yeah… I really am sorry. I was just in a bad mood, I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.” The kid beamed and nodded, mumbling a merry christmas before taking off. Unknown to Kevin was the rumors that were about to begin spreading about he and the teacher only known to Rogue by the class… but by Anna to him.
His body turned again and he held the bracelet in one hand while it was still on his wrist. For some reason… it meant a lot to him. He let out a sigh before entering his room. He made his way to bed before sitting up. “Where the hell is James?” he wondered out loud.
She just watched Jamie for the longest moment. He didn't seem to move and she was well, the worst person to be here right now with him she figured. X was never really that good with her own feelings let alone trying to help someone with theirs. That seemed more a feat for Cessily, the girl Sofia or even Jay. She didn't say anything for the longest time, just leaned up against the wall beside him. Kevin had left in somewhat of a huff, which told X he was not in the most pleasent of moods either. Everyone now a days was feeling some sort of anxiety, she could tell. Their scents had changed drastically.
Suddenly there was noise from above, it was so hard to hear through the concrete and metal walls, they had tried to hard to make this place sound proof. But the small cracks where the elevator was and the door ways gave way for a bit of the sounds to creep through. Tilting her head a bit she strained her hearing, strained her senses to see what was going on up there. He sounded like many feet were moving quickly along, large heavy feet were hitting the floor and big voices were booming, many voices in fact. She pushed from the wall slowly and moved just a step or two towards the door way. Her back now to Jamie as she just listened the best she could. Narrowing her eyes slightly her body slowly turned to face him.
She saw his eyes on her and her hand slowly raised out into the air, offering it to him. Offering her helping of him up to his feet. "I can't be sure but it sounds as if they are gathering the younger students for bed. I was going to the Danger Room in hopes that Mrs. Pryde was there, but somehow I don't think she is here. I think now that I look back that she has left to visit her family for the holidays. And no one else is down here so that creates a problem in my plans. I am going outside there...I suggest you go rest yourself." she wasn't not inviting him along, but she did know from the few experiences that she had that letting your emotions out can be extremly exhausting to oneself.
When he was on his feet she moved from the room still in full uniform and exited from the sub-levels thanks to the elevators. Of course not before grabbing the small figurine from the locker she put it in. When they reached the upper levels, one would think she would make a walk towards the kitchen or where others were, the horrid smell of burnt cookies stinging her nose. But just as quickly as they had returned to the life above, she was moving towards the closet doors and outside. She didn't have anything special on besides her uniform but she also didn't care. This weather was heavenly to her compared to what she was used to. The cold wind snipped at her hair picking it up and allowing it to dance about. Her nose rose to the air and she intook a large smell, pine and oak and eucalyptus refreshed her senses. For the first time today, she gave a small smile. It was so nice to be out here.
She just smiled at the longest time to Penance before Sofia came into the picture. She introduce her a bit anyways and turned her attentions to the wind princess. When she said her peice, and Cess noted her stance, it amused her a bit and irritated her as well. It wasn't that Cessily hated her, oh no, there was just certain people in life that you just never take time to get to know, for reasons and Sofia was one of them for Cessily. Sure Julian liked her and that was probably one of the only reasons she even talked to her at all unless trying to coax her and her team into some sort of rival competition. Besides, the only one she really didn't like was Laurie, Sofia's best friend. Who thankfully was no here for Christmas. Her or the obnoxious Golden Boy.
Suddenly her eyes glanced to Penance, if you could tell anyways and she seemed deep in some sort of thought. Her eyes narrowing slightly before she turned back towards Sofia. " Thats really not like him." she started softly before looking about the Rec Room with a quick glance. " Do you know where he went?" When she answered, Mercury was on the move. Gesturing for the two to follow if they wanted to. She couldn't help but laugh a bit at Colossus trying to gather up students to shove them off to bed, but Cessily's mind was on something else, alot else.
She rounded into the hall way and made haste towards the smell of Burnt Cookies. Everyone was gathering it seemed into the kitchen. When they made it there, she instantly took in the faces. A few of the teachers were moving through or making themselves beverages, Jay was looking at the burnt cookies as if they were deseased or something but utterly amused. Rockslide was sulking and eating anything he could it seemed over in the corner. As she looked about she noticed a few faces missing. One in praticular she noticed, Kevins." Does anyone know where Kevin is?"
