She stopped when he did. She wasn't sure what she was doing here, maybe everyone was right? She was in fact in all sense different from the others. But were they really? X didn't often trust guys or men, the one guy she knew on the streets was well her pimp. He was good to her and the girls though, they had food and clothing and a place to stay, wasn't that all anyone ever needs?
Eyeing the people he was talking to and correcting in the hall, it was odd to see someone stick up for her. Maybe this Kevin was not so bad, maybe he was worthy of her trust. She would just have to see, her trust wasn't given out very easily afterall.
When he turned back to her, she didn't really smile at all. Her brows just raised slightly and she looked at him with the same expression she always had. It was odd she was sure, to see this expression over and over and nothing else, she knew it was hard to tell what she was thinking, or feeling. The Project which she was part of failed after all, they couldn't create a perfect being with no attachments, with no feelings. Instead they just created some troubled girl, who felt and attached herself like everyone else.
Her eyes were the only thing that ever gave any hint of her thoughts away. They held a sort of solomn thank you in the orbs, and before long she found herself nodding slowly. " Ok. If that's what you want and think best. I don't want to be here if I'm not welcomed by your superiors though. I'll go away again if it makes everything easier." there was one thing about X that made her wonder if she should just go. She didn't like feeling trapped, she didn't like feeling caged. But thanks to Kevin's ability to talk to her like a person, to give her options and not force her to do anything, she was reluctant to stick around just for a while.

He nodded, loosing the smile he held for so long. "Ok. If that's what you want and think is best. I don't want to be here if I'm not welcomed by your superiors though. I'll go away again if it makes things easier."
"Xevannah... not everything in the world was meant to be easy... that's why some people have an advanced mutations and some don't. It's just never meant to be easy. However, I want to warn you not to trust some people here though... some will try to use you... but as of now, I can't tell you who exactly, everyone is different to everyone here.... I want you to know that in every way shape and form... everything you do from now on is your choice. If you stay, the only thing that is required is homework, showering, and tactics training." Slowly his eyes faced her. "However, like I said... all of this would be your choice if you wish to stay."
Then they began to move again, his customary sollow loos on his face reappeared as he thought, thought, wondered, if emotionally... she needed to be protected as much as physically she did not. His eyes trailed back to her. "Right anyway...off to get your book and some munches." He smirked some before it quickly disappeared. Smiles weren't customary for Wither... he hadn't smiled much since leaving home-since his father's death.
Turning down the hall, they entered the doorway and never looked back to everyone who sat stunned that Kevin Ford... quiet Kevin Ford-who they tortured like that when he first got here, was talking up and speaking out. Kevin led her outside and walked with his hands to his side, the scars from the gashes she gave him, slowly healing, yet one on his arm, the first he had gotten in their struggle, still bled occasionally through his gloves. The cut on his face, however, seemed not to want to go away, it was still wet as if it had just happened... by now, he had ignored it all.
The way he walked outside was the same inside, his right arm hugging around his abdomen while his left hung at his sides. He always needed to know, in some odd way, that he hadn't withered himself away... for some reason, that's just what was needed for him. Silently, another thought crossed his mind... did she realize she and he weren't holding hands anymore? Did she care? All he wanted was for her to feel normal-well as normal as a teenage mutant could feel.
Borders was right down the street, but the growl in both stomachs had grown to audible as he walked with her. "C'mon, let's get food first, we're both starving." He nudged his head towards the large golden M. "Now, just remember to keep calm..." he almost said in a laugh, "they slice the fries not us..." it was a metaphore, obviously, saying... don't cut the people up.

The shock of seeing Kevin, who had been so persistant about leaving just minutes ago, walk away hand in hand with the strange girl had left its impression on Emma Frost. Hard to believe, but yes, she was shocked indeed. Hank glanced at her brow risen face. "Emma, he's a good kid.... he'll help her find her way.... we just need to be there to help."
Her eyes fluttered towards him... sharp azure eyes glaring the blue beast down. "This is ODD... Hank, they just tried to kill eachother, and now... they hold hands." She sneered. Eyeing the hallway they disappeared to, only to hear the many voices of the other children.
"The world works in mysterious ways Emma, you know that..." Her eyes shot down to Hank as he tried to stick up for Kevin-who in honesty, saved his hospital lab from getting even more ruined.
"They don't think she belongs... Kevin just stuck up for her.... do you remember when Kevin first got here Hank? How harsh the children were? I feel it will start anew with this girl, however..." her eyes glanced to Hank, "She's X-23.. she's the clone that everyone on the 'bad side' is looking for. We must keep her safe here... howevever..." her eyes looked to the puddles of blood beneath their footing- one was smaller than the other... one was Kevin's. "He's still bleeding from his scuffle with her." A slender white gloved finger pressed down the hallway as a small track of blood progressed.
"As soon as he comes back, he is straight in the medlab." She told herself and Hank as she moved down the hall and into the interior of the Academy. Her eyes were met with those of hundreds of other students, all talking at once and all complaining about X-23.
For a moment, her composure was questioned as her face grew red with anger at how many voices were in her mind and verbally talking to her. "ALRIGHT! Now, you have to listen, and listen good... you all judge too quickly. Some of you had the same beginings before coming here, not everyone was lucky enough to have parents, or parents who willingly send them here to grow into your powers. Now she falls into the same catagory, GOT IT? She will be taught like the rest of you. Be in the classes like the rest of you. Eat and Sleep under this roof like the rest of you. Do I make myself clear?"
The entire group, stood straight, realizing they were getting off pretty damn easy by Emma Frost by just getting this lecture. If they were single group... the lecture and punishment would be must worse. Then... surprisingly, her eyes seemed to harden even more as she glanced through the group. "There is another one of my old students on their way here NOW... she is VERY different from all of you, however, if any of you are in distress... she would be the one you go to. She is mute-however...." her eyes jumped to a group of telepaths, "and telepathy won't work on her... she has been learning to write, and that is how you communicate with her. IF I find out ANY of you give her a hastle... and trust me I will find out.... I will personally see to your punishments."
Turning in a fury of white capes, she walked down to her office, getting ready for more paperwork of two more children into the school... one a student advisor.... another possibly a student and possibly a part of her Hellions squad. A smirk came to her face before she felt the large body and small mind of 'Rockslide' come to her side. "Yes?" her voice was harsh, like always, and sharp.
"Kevin said something about her..." Santo began. "He said her name was Xevannah...." his eyes scanned the teacher, who shooed him away like a bug.
"Thank you Santo... I'll see to it that I get all of this girl's information... you have a two lap break today in practice..." she mumbled before entering her office with a slam. "So... you named yourself..." then it hit her..." no.. you allowed Kevin to name you... This is going to be a very interesting time with you... Xevannah."

A slender brow raised a bit at the words he said. "Why do you talk about mutations all the time. Mutations, Mutants, I remember two girls I knew having special powers that others didn't, but why would you consider them mutants? They weren't deformed or anything, they were just girls." She just didn't like that word, it was a way to label different people in her eyes. And that was wrong. But maybe it was some word they used for these special people alot? Maybe it was proper now a days. She wasn't sure. She was never called a mutant where she was, No, she was often called a Weapon or a beast or monster but never Mutant. She would have to get used to that word. When he said it was her choice, she nodded very slowly. Yes, her choice. Everything was her choice, no one would cage her again or tell her to do things against her will, no one would try to use her no, she would make her own choices. " I understand.." just then when he said the words tatics training she seemed to perk up a bit. For the first time that usual little corner smile turned a little more obvious. " Tactics training...like a Mission?" she remembered those.
When they continued through the halls, she was hardly noticing the way people were staring and whispering. Deep down they thought she was going to attack and try to hurt someone again. But she promised she wouldn't hurt his friends and she wouldn't. She would even..apologize to the Blue haired girl if she had to for attacaking her. While they walked she hadn't really noticed him not holding her hand, no she was still to busy sniffing the air occasionally or looking around as if she had never seen anything like this before. She was used to being pulled around where she was raised, so having someone grab her hand and tug her around was normal and nothing out of the ordinary.
Finally the rounded the corner and she nodded slowly to his words. 'they slice the fries not us...' He laughed, what an odd sound laughter was. From anyone really, it was always different. Everyone had a different laugh. She wondered if she could do it, but she wouldn't try right now. They were inside and almost at the front of the line and when they reached the counter she reached into her pocket and pulled out some crinkled bills. "A Combo 2 and a Combo 4 with water and something cold on the side. Like..ice cream..." "Would you like a sundae then? " " Uh...ok." " Chocolate, strawberry, caramel or butterscotch?" she raised a brow slowly and pondered that. She never had tried chocolate before, or strawberry or well any of them. " I don't know..what is tastes best?"

Her comment on the word mutant was right.... "Special powers.... that's what most mutations are as of late. They don't have to be deformed or anything, just... have powers. Now a days, it's in the context of how you say it... but people in the academy like you saw... they all have those special powers, and most don't mind the word mutant, hell even some of them go by 'New Mutants'... I used to, till I left that group and went to the Hellions..." He trailed off slightly before nodding. "Yeah, Tactics for missions... right now we're in training, you and I... we're still kids, so we train instead of going on constant missions. We're still allowed to have fun... but we're just practicing until a mission comes along."
His talking finally ended when they entered the mcdonalds, they stood in line for a little bit before she ordered hers. Smiling he rose a brow. "Can she have a sample of all five flavors (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Carmel, Butterscotch)? And uhm... I'd like a number 1... with coke, no ice." Glancing to her he smiled again before putting her money back into her hands. "You're my guest today, Xevannah... don't worry about it, save it for the book, OK?" He nodded, before pulling out his own money and paying for the both of them.
After a few minutes, their orders were out on the trays, his on one, hers on another, and the icecream on a completely seperate tray. Grabbing catsup, mustard, mayonaise, bbq sauce and honey sauce, he had no clue what she liked on her food... so he just brought it all with them as they sat down.
"So, I take it you're really hungry, huh?" he smirked before biting into his own sandwich, something which almost made him drool with exctacy.

The girl at the counter was staring at them as they ordered. Like it was such an odd idea for it all. That or something else was getting on her mind. X's eyes narrowed slowly just a bit before she turned her eyes back towards Kevin as she pocketed the money back. " I had alot of training, I spent three years on missions. I haven't been in training or on a mission in a long time. It should be interesting."
Slowly they finally turned from the counter, trays in hand and took a seat not far from there. She watched as he filled sauces and such up with every kind and she was more than thrilled to try each and every one. And she did, dipping fries, dipping her burgers. Dipping it in everything. She liked them all, except for the mustard, it had such a sour taste to it. When he asked if she was hungry she shrugged a bit. " Yeah, but I'm not really really hungry. It all tastes so good." she had always loved the food on the outside, inside it was always plain and hardly had taste. Consisting of veggies and grains and meats with nothing done with them. It was nice to have taste.
She took a sip of the water before finally finishing up rather hurridly and when she grabbed the ice cream she tried every one of the five flavours. " These are really good." then suddenly she dipped a spoon with ice cream into the bbq sauce and took a bite. Making a face she swallowed quickly. " And that was not so good." she offered Kevin then some ice cream before getting to finishing it off.
"So, why do you buy books? I mean, you read them I'm sure. But what do you do with them after? Do you throw them out?" she was always read to in the place, she never really read except when they were teaching her to read. And most of the books were about war and combat...in fact they all were. All except for when Sarah read to her Pinnocio.

"Well... you won't have THAT many missions just yet... more training than anything... it's fun, we have combat sessions with computers... it's nice stuff." His voice was muffled as he bit again into the sandwich before him. The grease dripped but that was how he liked it-except for the fact it got on his gloves... and now he'd have to wash them.
Eyes watched her devour the meals, and the sauces... except "No I wouldn't do...." but she did, his face was squinting, however his eyes were laughing. "Tastes like shit.... doesn't it?" He shook his head and finished his meal. Taking the scoop of icecream offered from her. "Thanks." he answered plainly before listening to her question.
A brow rose as her question about books made him think. "Well... I reread them sometimes... there's books that are my favorite, or books of poems that I like... that I'll never get rid of, because if I'm sad or anything, I can just open up these books and re-read them." He nodded some. "It's always good to keep them... or... or you can sell them to a booktrader who gives you money back, depending on how good of shape they're in." His body shrugged before he rose and began to clean their mess.
"Anyway, you ready to go look at books? Pinnocio is a classic so it should be there when we walk in... we can look for other books too, or maybe comics.... anything you'd like... they have a lot there." He took her tray which was picked clean by now and threw the garbage away, turning to her. "Ready?"

They say in life that we are judged by the choices we make. They are what define us. I chose to bring you into this world. I chose to stay in the program even after they stripped you of your humanity, and molded you into a Weapon. I am responsible for everything that has happened. For all the death..For everything you've suffered. Because I had a choice, when you had none, and I chose to do nothing.
A brow suddenly raised again. "What is the point of going on a mission with computers? " she figured it was some sort of way to train them. She wondered if training would be the same from when she was trained as a child. Sensei Tanako was a good man, she missed him alot. How were they going to compare to that...to the man she slaughtered in cold blood. A man she killed without being able to control her self. She still didn't know why she killed him, how she became so enraged, why she couldn't control it. She liked him...and she killed him. There was a sudden sadness in her eyes when she looked down, remembering the man who taught her that she was not just some project.
When she regained herself, she ate the ice cream and nodded quickly to his words. " I wouldn't say shit...but I'm sure it isn't far from it." She finished her meal quickly enough and watched as he cleaned it all up.
His explaination on books and why people kept them made sense to her. But if you read it once and you liked it..wouldn't you always know the story? She could remember Pinnocio as if it was being read to her at that very moment. "I don't think I could ever forget the story of the puppet boy." she said suddenly as she stood. Ready as she would ever be. " I've heard it so much..it brings back memories. Actual good ones, so I suppose that..well..that maybe reading it is a good thing?" she pondered on that a moment before nodding to him. " I'm ready"

"There are different levels to computer training, it is very realistic... and sometimes you can get lost you think it is so real.... however, in truth it's not, but it helps you get ready for the real world. It throws you quirks that you wouldn't know you were going to have, just like in the real world. Anyway..." He twitched the itch on his nose suddenly as he watched her eyes grow so sad. Stopping he lifted her chin with his gloved hands.
"Xevannah... are you alright? You got so quiet and sad.... you can tell me if you want.... I'm here to listen to you too." He smiled reassuring ly and took her hand, interlacing his fingers with his. Maybe he liked her, liked how quiet she was, or maybe he just liked the fact that he was getting to know someone so new to him and everyone else... but he felt special it was him chosen.
Leaving the store, he kept pace with her as they walked towards Borders Books and Music. "Yeah I guess I'll always remember some of my favorite books and stories... but the only thing with that is... well, sometimes you find so many good books, that you want to reread them to remind you why you love it so much..." Then she mentioned how reading brings back good memories.
"People need good memories to continue... sometimes I don't know what memories are good and what are bad anymore, for myself.... they just intertwine so much that I... can't tell the difference." He commented softly as they entered the store.

I always assumed it was Rice that cut you. He hurt you so many times in the past, he almost killed you twice. I never wanted to believe that it was you. The damage I've done, I can never forgive myself. You couldn't stop what Rice made you do. But somehow you managed to save Henry and to tell me the truth. Which means there is hope, you showed me we failed, you are not a Weapon. You are a Child. Always remember you are not to blame. You didn't pick this life. We....forced it upon you. The blood that you have spilled is on my hands, not yours. And please understand why I must ask you to kill one last time. Because tonight what you do is right. Tonight, what you save is justice. Tonight you take bace the life we stole from you.
With every explanation of the computer simulations she nodded slowly. She didn't know how you could mistake a computer for being real but she never really was in a computer simulation so it might be different. It might be very different from what she was expecting. At least, if real things can happen than it deffidently was not what she was expecting.
He lifted her head slowly and her face lifted for her gaze to meet his. It had changed again, turned back to that calm emotionless stare. Like some zombie. " I am fine. I was just remembering my Sensei. When I was younger..I killed him. I don't know why I did but I did. I miss him..he was a good man. He trained me well. He was the only other person besides Sarah to treat me like a real person and not some...weapon. I promised Sarah I'd remember I was a child...it's hard to really but I try." she smirked just a tad bit as she stood to her feet.
His hand took hers again and he led her towards the book store. Out the restaurant and just down the street a few ways. She wasn't sure why she chose only to trust Kevin so far. Maybe it was because his gift, it intrigued her. That he was the first person to ever bring her down. Or maybe it was something about him, it reminded her of someone she once knew. Either way it didn't matter really, for now finding that book mattered. " I suppose that makes sense." she stated about why you should reread books. When they entered the shop her eyes looked around. A magnificant store filled with pages and books everywhere. Books she had read and been read to so many times caught her eyes. Just an isle away, books on war, strategy, combat, human anatomy Everything they trained her with. But today..she was looking for one book that had nothing to do with killing. Nothing to do with war or violence...a childs story, her favorite story.

Listening to the story of her sensai, he suddenly felt bad for her. What did they do to her as a child? How did they corrupt her so much that she didn't know right from wrong until now? It was sad that this was the life she led... the life she was forced to lead for so long... if he were a more emotional person, he would've cried at her stories... but... but he wasn't. His emotions were gone, were dead.
Remember, no matter what happens, Kevin, I will always love you... you don't have to worry about what dies by your hands, it wasn't your choice... you were born this way, it wasn't your fault....
This was all he could remember before he felt the cold touch of his father's cheek on his own. He killed his father... he missed him so much... he understood, he cared... he loved him. Kevin often wondered... would he love again?
Don't cry my son... God works in mysterious ways, your reason for having these gifts will be told sooner or later... you can always buy new shirts... and people can mourn... but never do I want you to be sad. You are a beautiful child, you love and care for everything you hurt... and that is what makes you more human than most. Kevin... no matter what, I will love you...
His hand squeezed her softly, she was so amazed by all the books. His eyes slowly scanned before finding the childrens isle. Letting go of her hand he walked with her towards the isle, pointing out Pinnoccio and half-smiling. "There's the book... are there any more that you want to get?" Pulling the book from the shelf for her he handed it down.
She needed so much to be human again... she needed so much to live the life of a child. A book, could be the first. He wouldn't hurt her, now he knew that... he knew she was hard to gain trust... and today showed him... she trusted him.
Death is just a term my son... there is always something for you after... always.
"Maybe we can get you a classic... I think you might like Alice in Wonderland... it's a good book, so is the sequel... Through the Looking Glass..." he remembered his cousin's fascination with that book... that was before his aunt stopped allowing her to visit him.

She had looked at him once when he had that same look she once did moments before. A look of sadness. Something must have happened and now it was sad because he was remembering it. "Don't be sad. Good things always come.." she didn't know what he was seeing, she didn't understand, but what she did know was what Sarah had left her with. And instilling that not everything is deserved, not everything is fair, but in the end everyone is free. That everything can become good, look at her now.
Her eyes turned back to the store before a sudden squeeze caught her attention only slightly. Her eyes watched him move through the isle and towards the book. Pointing and grabbing it. Then he spoke of more books and she thought a moment. Alice in Wonderland? She had never heard of it. "Sure" was her one answer, not quite sure she was interested in a book she was unsure of. " Well..what is it about?"
She moved then herself, while listening to his explaination. She moved right for the books she spotted at first, grabbing one entitled Strategic Combat for the Advanced Learner. Flipping through the book, she smirked only just a bit before glancing back towards him as he brought the books with him. She put the book back before moving to see what this Alice in Wonderland was all about.

Her comment about being sad, passed over him like the spring breeze. They had so much alike, yet so much difference between them. However, he was cared for and not created... he had more heart... he still felt the pain.
"Well..." he gulped slightly, "my cousin likes it... it's about a world that's all wrong yet all right. It's basically a figment of a girls imagination... for some reason I think you'd like the Queen of hearts..." He glanced through the isle to find the book. Pulling out the special edition of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass where they were in the same book, his brow arched.
"Well... Alice is a nosey and lazy child... in her mind she creates this wonderful little world where up is down, foreward backward... so on and so forth... throughout most of the story, she is trying to find a White Rabbit... I don't know how else to explain it... except that there is a lot of trickery by the Cheshire Cat and a trail.... I don't know really.... it's a good book in my mind... I like it really, I can remember it all, but to explain it... I can't for some reason."
Smirking he shrugged and offered for her to look at it. "It's up to you if you want it..." he glanced at the book, it was only $2.99, so if not... he'd get it for her, if she can't afford it and wanted it. Not only that, but he thought for a moment. "Three musketeers is another I think you'd like... it's about conquring over evil and letting good reign...." He smirked. "Fiction all of it... but honestly, it is a good book."

Flipping the book suddenly closed. She placed it back on the shelf and turned to him. Listening to his explaination. Imagination? What a silly concept. The real world is what matters not a mind that plays tricks. X was never really one for much of an imagination. No, she liked to conquer things in the real world, though a made up world might have made things more bareable in the end.
Taking the book she flipped through the pages as well. Scanning over a few pages. seeing some old drawings was where she would stop. Which of course was at the beginning of chapters. Finally she nodded slowly to herself and glanced to him. " If you recommend it, then I will get it. " her tone was flat when she spoke really. She didn't know who Alice was or what her wonderland was all about, but if he said it was good she would take his word.
Tilting her head a bit at the mentioning of muskuteers, she pushed a bit of the long locks from her face. " That sounds interesting too." she turned then again to the book she held and continued to look through it, before sharing something that didn't seem to have any affect on her what so ever. " I once killed Rice. Sarah told me it was the right thing, that it was good. That I had to. I killed him for her really. Because she sent me on that mission, because she wanted me to. I didn't mind. I never liked him really. He was mean." her face showed no care in the world. Some might have been horrified at how calm she was when it came to killing a man, others might have just turned her in somewhere. " He screamed you know. Really loud when I cut his throat. It must have hurt."
Suddenly her head snapped up. " Fiction? Like made up things. Things that aren't real. Why would we read things that weren't real?"

A brow rose. "Well... I recommend it...." she was still in her robot state. "But... remember, you don't have to get anything you don't want, Xevannah... everything is your choice...." However, she started on memories that caused his own to kick in. While she killed Rice, he had injured and killed Pierce.... he felt good when he had done that. Pierce was evil, bad.... he was meant to die.
She was so calm in her memories, it just made him shake his head causing him to correct what she said earlier. "You did have a mother, someone you were willing to kill for... someone who you are willing to remember and do things for." Then she mentioned the screaming, and he remembered Pierce, screaming for Josh, his body crumbling beneath him.
"Pierce screamed too..." just like her he was calm in his memory of Pierce, because he had no regrets in his death. Pierce deserved it. He... he was going to hurt Laurie. His head shook slightly.
