"No..I..I am interested." she turned to him and smiled slowly. She was really, she was just not used to having options, or well she wasn't used to buying books. She didn't understand this story yet, but maybe when she read it she would. Maybe when she read it, she'd actually like the fact that she got it.
"She wasn't my mother..She was my advisor. She was the closest to my mother, she bore me, but she wasn't a mother. I have no mother, I have no father..I have no family. But it doesn't bother me. She was just..my friend. My closest friend. And she didn't even know it. Didn't know I needed her." her eyes glanced down again.
Raising a brow then she lifted her gaze and stared at him. " It's not that bad a scream really. Its a comfort to know that they are dead sometimes." she smiled a bit more before looking at the book in her hands again. " I think these two will do for now. Maybe I will come back for more." she still had some money left from her previous 'occupation' She could smell his cut still, it was so fresh. Her's never lasted really, not long anyways. Her own arms would have almost nothing, not even scars on them. "I'm sorry for hurting you earlier." she said suddenly as she turned to move towards the counter. Fishing for the money from her pocket again.
"Fiction sounds irrational. But sometimes I suppose it makes sense. People need some escape right? " she then turned her eyes back to him and saw Pinnocio as he said it was fiction. She shook her head slowly and state matter of factly while paying the man for bother books. " You're wrong there. It's real. I'm Pinnocio. Sarah was my Blue fairy as well as my Guiseppe. I'm real now..I wasn't before but I am now." the store clerk just raised a brow at her, giving them an odd sort of look.

He would give up on this concept of mother for now, she didn't understand-or maybe... maybe he didn't understand. Eyes scanned the isles, trying to see if there were anything he would like to read... only his eyes didn't find a novel or a classic of any sort.
Eyes found a book of different sculptures, metal sculptures and other techniques that would fall under industrial art. He had been giving up on his love of art lately...maybe one book wouldn't hurt? He shrugged and put it to his side before walking to the counter with her. The comments she made about death, about the scream.... she was right. With Pierce, he needed to hear it, it was tha feral instinct that made him want to hear it....
"I'm sorry for hurting you earlier..." it was as random as she was. However, it just, made him half-smile when she said it. "Physical wounds hurt just for a bit... I'll be fine..." he said softly, however, moving still, with the cuts in his legs and arms, was killing his morals. He was getting tired and was thinking about going back to the dorm rooms.
Stepping to the counter with her, he heard her comment about Pinnoccio. "Well... it was a type of fiction.... but you know what, the story of Pinnoccio does fit your life very well... and well, it works for me that its real." He just smirked before eyeing the clerk. Man people were nosey. Paying for his own art book, he walked away from the counter trying to hide the fact that his left leg was in pain.
"So... I haven't slept in a while.... I think I'm goina head to the dorms... come on with me, and you can stay in my room with me for a bit, as of now, I don't have a roommate so you can get some sleep too. Sometimes it's good for the body to just refresh..." He walked slowly eyeing the book in his hand, and yawning every few moments.
By the time they got back to the intitute, the crowds were gone, and he was able to get into his dorm easily. He guessed most people were in training. Good thing he decided not to go today, he would've been hurting too bad to even think about helping anyone. He shrugged and threw the book on his bed. The door was kept open as he pulled his shirt and gloves off. Just as most of the males at the acedemy he was very buff, however, that wasn't why he was doing it. His hands went instantly for the rubbing alcohol and kleenex, cleaning his wounds that he had never gotten around to doing.
As he was about to lay down, his eyes caught Xevannah. "C'mon, you can lay down, or even read if you'd like... I just need a lil rest, and knowing Ms. Frost, she's doing paperwork to allow you to stay anyway." He laughed some before laying on his back, his arm behind his head and one on his stomach. Sometimes, not laying on sheets that were synthetic... he craved for a nice wool blanket-but beggers can't be choosers.

She watched as he moved through the isle and took a book. It was something to do with the things similar in the park., They were odd statue, X wasn't sure she liked them but maybe she did. She wasn't much of an art buff herself though. There was never time for art in her life, nor was there time for odd looking metal statues.
She understood alot what he meant by physical wounds did hurt as much and healed. She never had a psychical wound for very long, even when her body was rained with bullets and she was thought to be dead long ago they healed up within moments. She was thankful for the gift, for without it she would never have been here.
She nodded to the wanting to get back to the institute. X never cared what others said, if they feared her or not, if they felt she didn't belong, it didn't matter to her right now. So if they were lined up to spat at her then she would teach them all a lesson if she had to. Of course, that was how X was, when you are threatened or feel threatened you take it out in the best way you know how. And for X that was violence.
The walk was a short one, well it wasn't as long away as it could have been. Every once in a while she would sniff the air and smile before continuing on. There was so much that caught her attention when things came down to it. Arriving back at the school, she wasn't all that shocked that no one was around again. Of course not much shocked this girl. Following him through the halls, they made way to his room. He removed his shirt and she only tilted her head a bit at that before really paying no attention to it. Slowly she took toa corner in the room and smirked just a bit. " I'll read. And I won't bother you." from the bag she was given she took out the story she had gone for..Pinnocio and set herself calmly reading while sitting on the floor. She wasn't used to comfortable sleeping areas, she was used to floors or streetways or hard wood planks attached to a wall. The hard floor felt more comforting to her really, like home..where she never had a bed.
The ruffling every once in a while from the pages was quiet and almost silent. She took alot of care trying to keep it that way. To not disturb him.

In away Kevin was right, Jay knew it. Though he sighed, Kevin was too much on the defensive for reason to work, it seemed as if treading on thin ice. Eyes looked up once again and he frowned slightly. “I was trying to stop Julian from making a huge mistake. One that wouldn’t have solved your problems only cause bigger ones. And ruin the lives of those at the Mansion. If they attacked, it would have brought the institute down. All those who’d turned to the Institute for help, out on the street again in a world where others don’t want to understand.”
A memory of pain flashed through his eyes. He didn’t think anyone knew about that. Knew about her. They might have, but not about him. No one saw the scar that would never heal. Or what he felt, being a mutant. Not being able to take his own life after it had already been dead. The instant healing factor he had kept that from happening. No matter how many times he tried, he had to live. He sighed again after Kevin left, making his way back to the others. Laurie had done a great job. And he flew back with the girl that Dr. Macoy could look at her.
Maybe Jay needed his own alone time. Silently he went to his room, he was half only here in part because of his mother. Still it didn’t calm the inner turmoil he felt. Fingertips ran across the shirt he wore, where if it was off a deep scar would have shown. There was talk and gossip around the mansion. About the girl. About Kevin. Sometimes he didn’t understand, how people could think that way be judgmental. Gossip about what they know nothing about, or try and cast out someone who yes maybe different but also the same as them selves. They were all mutants here. They all had special powers and could all be considered dangerous. It was just stupid to try and think otherwise.
Hand gripped around his guitar and he exited his room. Silently ignoring the whispers he heard, he wasn’t going to be one of those people. Pushing through the doors to the courtyard he looked up at the sky before wings spread. He wanted to be somewhere high, somewhere no one else could reach him. Sometimes he perched on the backboard of the basketball courts but they were currently in use, so he chose the roof of the green house. Fingers moved to play a cord before strumming the guitar. No words just music, emotion. For a moment he saw the pair walking out away from the school. Kevin and X. Eyes turned down once more to the strings of his guitar, before a almost sad sounding rhythm floated from them as he played.

"Xevannah, you can sit or even sleep on that bed... you don't have to sleep in corners anymore here. It might take a bit to get used to... but it's not that bad." He smirked a bit before closing his eyes. "The pillow's are actually comfortable."
~Blackness surrounded the boy now. Sounds of ruffling pages could be heard, but they were distant... he knew this place, this was where he was always when he was on his way to falling asleep. He felt though, like his eyes were open and he were watching a tv show that hadn't started yet. When he looked down, he was sitting in a movie theatre with popcorn in his lap and soda in his hand. "What the hell?" he questioned softly before the movie started.
5 *bleep* 4 *bleep* 3 *bleep* 2 *bleep* 1 *bleep*
The sound of a fluttering home movie began before he tried to get up, man this was strange. However, he suddenly noticed he was strapped down into the chair below him. 'What the..." his body struggled before his eyes glanced up to the large screen. Eyes scanned the screen, what he saw up there, made his eyebrows knit. "Tha... That's me..." his voice muttered.
The child on the screen was maybe about five, running around the backyard of his house, jumping in and out of a small blow up pool. Giggling was heard coming from the speakers, before the child ran up to the person taking the movie. "Daddy! Look what I can do!!" The child glanced down at the grass below him and kneeled his finger stretching out and touching the dandilion. The camera zoomed in on the dandilion as the small boys finger's touched it. "Kevin what are you doing?" Another giggle. "Just watch daddy!" After a few moments, the dandilion began to shrivel into itself. The yellow pettals began to fall and the stem, which was just green as ever, became an ash color, before the wind blew the entire flower away. The camera fell, feet came in front of it and too people kneeling were seen. "Kevin.. that's amazing, but you have to promise me that you will never show anyone else that... you have to promise!" The little boy nodded some and gulped, "I... I promise daddy..."
Suddenly the screen was blank once more, nothing but blackness. However he was still strapped in, eyes looked down. What was going on?
The picture started again, this time it wasn't a movie, more of a memory he supposed. However, his eyes cursed this day, this memory, this... movie. "NO I won't watch it! You can't make me!" He struggled, he cried. He wouldn't he couldnt! "NO!!" but the movie continued... and he had to watch.
His body slumped over, shaking and naked. He was so tired of this, why couldn't he just be normal. Tears streamed down the boys eyes on the screen. Arms covered his body as he curled in a blanket that slowly withered under his touch. 'Why can't i just be normal?' the boy's voice whimpered. However, the door opened and his eyes shot up. Bloodshot and tear stricken, they looked to his father, who had just as many tears. "Oh Kevin, don't cry... everything will be ok, I promise..." His father moved closer to him and grasped him in a hug... one which Kevin gave back crying even more. "Dad!! I just want to be normal!! I just want it to stop!" He whimpered as he hugged his dad, however, he felt his father's hug weaken before... before. "Dad?... DAD?" He grasped his father even more than before... even more than ever before he turned away. He had held his father for minutes, maybe hours before letting his form go and lay on the bed. "I... I'm so sorry..."~
His form writhed on the bed as he had these memories of days past, these memories that he never wanted to remember. These memories that seemed to kill him inside. "I'm sorry..." he whispered before his eyes wrenched open and he took in a deep breath. This was why he rarely slept... this was why he hept himself away from everyone... this was why he was a loner.

X was content in her own little world in the corner. When she heard his words she smiled slightly and raised her eyes to him. " The corner is comfortable to me. But thank you" She had changed so much since she was a child. Well, she still was one but when she was in the Program she was much younger and much less human.
When her eyes retreated to the book, she noted to herself that he had fallen asleep. Somehow the pages were intriguing yet at the same time boring. She wanted to watch this place, scope it out and examine every inch. For now though, she would stay in this room like he proposed.
She had all intentions on staying in this room too. Except for something. In the distance, she could hear it. She heard it while she was leaving the institute earlier. She heard it on her way back and now she was hearing it again. Music, a stringed instrument being played. It had all her senses on it and now, she placed the book down slowly. Standing to her feet, her body form moved without a sound to the window as she opened it and a gentle breeze took over the room. She glanced beside her down at Kevin for only a moment, he had escaped into sleep, this gave her some time perhaps. Curious, drawn, intrigued, her blades slide from her knuckles and feet. She climbed out the window, the metal claws grasping onto the building like rock climbing tools. She moved up to the top of the institute with the utmost speed. When she reached the top, she did not retract the blades as she moved swiftly along the roof top towards the sound. It was a building away and with a leap of extraordinary measures, she landed crouched on the roof top of the Green House. Her eyes caught the sun and reflected the light back, making the green orbs seem to glow as she stared right at the winged boy who played this funny instrument. Her head tilted just a bit. Would she say something? Would she move? It was uncertain.
For the longest of moments she just stared and watched him, slowly beginning to take a movement forwards towards him before her head snapped back towards the institute. Something in Kevin's room. Someone was moving. To her it meant one thing, someone was in there. Someone who might not belong. And without a second thought nor a moments hesitation she was off again. A leap to the next roof top, a very fast sprint and down the side. Her claws struck deep into the wood window sill that surrounded the window and she swung into the room. Coming to a deep crounch to the floor. Her eyes had gone a yellowish red, she was on alert. She seemed slightly feral again as if she would attack. But no one was there, Only Kevin. " Where is he or she?" In her mind, someone was in this room. She couldn't tell that it was just his own movements in his own dreams.

Turning around from his position on the bed, he slowly rose from laying and scratched his head slightly. The position Xevannah was in... alarmed him slightly-then he saw her eyes. "Xevannah, you alright?" He questioned with a shocked look on his face. He could only stand and slowly pull his shirt over his head which grabbed every curve of his body. Pulling over that was a vest made from one of his old shirts that he cared about a lot. Memories.
"Xevannah..." she hadn't answered him yet, she was glancing and looking about the room like someone had been in here. But... if there had been a fight, he would've woke up... he would've heard it, right? A brow lifted, yet somehow he calmed his worry. Eyes lifted to the ceiling... Jay was at it again, playing his music... and... and he knew it was his fault. "Shit... hey Xevannah, you should talk to Ms. Frost, she can fill you in on things... but... I...* his eyes lifted to the roof once more, "I have things I need to apologize for..."
With that he gathered himself, then his gloves after pulling his hair out of the 'pillow head' look and sighed. He shouldn't have said any of that to Jay, and he knew it. "Xevannah.. her office is to the right, fifth door..." With that he left, a soft "Sorry for leaving like this..." was heard but he continued to walk up and out of the dorm house and outside to find Jay.
Sometimes he wished he had wings, just so he could leave and find somewhere new... but that would never happen. "Jay!" his voice was a yell, but he knew the angel would hear him. Eyes scanned the rooftops, until they landed on the greenhouse. Walking casually over, yet distant like always, his eyes slowly rose to the roof. "Hey Jay... I want to apologize for what I said earlier... I... was speaking with spite... I was rash... and fucking wrong... I'm sorry."

She didn't answer at first, she just stared around on full alert. Her nose raised a bit to allow her to inhale gently. No..there was only a few scents in here. Some that had been from the start and well her's and Kevin's. She was just paranoid per usual it seemed. No one had been here, at least not that she could tell.
She inhaled deeply once more before the claws suddenly slinked back into her skin. Her eyes were returning back to those vibrant green orbs once more and she straightened her position as she tilted her head a bit. " I am sorry. I thought someone might have....attacked you.." she didn't want Kevin to get hurt, she didn't want anyone to get hurt because of her anymore. At least, not people who didn't deserve it.
When he looked up she followed his eyes as well. He must hear the music to. Probably not as clear as her but still clear enough to know it was there. To her, it was like he was playing right beside her yet at the same time far away. Her head nodded slowly as he suggested she go see Ms. Frost. When he left the room though she did not. Her form instead moved to the window and she watched him as he exited out into the yard. The green pair watched him silently, like a preditor to her pray, rather eerily with her usual expression. Then with a quick motion the window was closed and she was out the room.
She followed his directions, down the hall fifth door to the right. Reaching there, her eyes scanned around. Around watching anyone who looked her way until finally she lifted a hand and knocked on the door. Rather hard compared to how it could have been. She was calm as she waited for an answer. Though she was not sure what to anticipate.

Eyes stared at her computer, she hated these dreadful contraptions... honestly, files were easy enough stored verbally into these things, but then to print them and hold them where anyone can get into them... well... that was just rediculous.
Eyes rolled as she continued to input information from an old zipdisk from her previous student coming back. This should raise some eyes... however, she was happy to say, that this girl wasn't just an empty shell anymore, she was Penance St. Croix.... and now she was coming back to be her student once more on the Hellions.
However, as she was putting the finishing touches on her new profile for Penance, her eyes scanned to the door. Someone was coming, it was that girl. Standing she saved what she had and headed for the door. Just as she knocked, Emma was a little put off by the harshness of the knock-but then again, as a weapon what would you ask for?
Opening the door her eyes scrolled down to meet the green gaze of X. "I hear you go by Xevannah now, X23..." was all she said before turning and sitting behind her large desk. "Come sit... if you would like... we can draw up your papers for you to stay..."

She could hear the footsteps on the other side of the door. She was coming. So there was someone in there, somehow she wasn't one for surprizes. When the door opened and the tall woman looked down at her, she only looked up. X wasn't tall at all, in fact she was shorter than most of the other girls, so the blonde woman peering down at her must have seemed like an interesting sight.
When she was welcomed in, she followed. Something about this woman unnerved X so far. Maybe it was the fact it was a new face and X wasn't much for new people. Or maybe it was because she somewhat reminded her of two people..a combination of both. Rice and Sarah. A man she didn't like, versus a woman she did. X knew she wasn't going to trust this woman, at least not right away and as easy as she did Kevin. Not until she proved herself anyways. Always the cautious one when it came to people.
When she was offered a seat, she nodded slowly and took to it. Never answering to the mention of what she went by now. Yes, yes she did. " Kevin gave me that name idea. He said it was better than being known as X23. Though I don't mind much. I'm used to it." her tone per usual was flat and lifeless as her face said it all. The slight pull of a smile yet eyes of anger and pain and hurt. She was a living mask, like so many teens. " I hope no one minds me here...and...I know that Weapon X has been through here. I can smell him. Is he here? " She had come in contact with Logan or Wolverine once, it was a interesting battle and in the end he did nothing but talk to her. She was trained to kill him, yet she let him talk to her. Why did he just kill her she wasn't sure..Or well try to anyways. But right now she had to put that aside. Right now other things were important.

She’d spent the last few hours walking and thinking about all that had transpired between her and Kevin. She wasn’t sure if she liked him, but was upset that she’d allowed her anger to cut a wedge between them. Beside herself with guilt Surge was wondering how she was going to go about apologizing to him attacking him, for giving him such an accusatory look. He was only trying to protect her, and he had stopped before it was too late. Dejected, but determined she puffed a blue lock of hair from her eyes and cut back though the other side of the park, cutting though the small strip mall to shorten her walk back to the University. Eyes scanned across the storefronts lazily, then abruptly halted as she saw something framed in the glass she did not expect. Kevin was standing there with he girl who’d attacked her, and he was holding her hand. “Son of a bitch!” she cursed storming off.
The petite Asian was fuming. And if someone were observing her now, they would wonder how someone of her diminutive size was able to generate that much ungrounded fury. Metal hands clenched and unclenched as sneakered feet thudded a meaty staccato against the sidewalk. She passed The Grind Stone, her eyes never noticing Julian as the situation had her so rattled. It was times like this that she missed the downers the most; Red-and-blue Tuinal …lipstick-red seconals. Nori’s brain fought against itself. Almost as if she was having a conversation with someone else; the yin and the yang. ‘You need to lighten up…’ ‘Can’t you I just go get something; have a break, numb out?’
‘No. You need to work this out without drugs.’
‘Hey come on… I’m in pain here.’
‘When are you gonna be satisfied? When this finally kills you? When your dead?’
‘Am I not?’
She shifted gears, walking away from Xavier’s, re-cutting across the park as she stood at the bus stop waiting for the next one. While she tapped her foot impatiently, her gloved hands un-slung her backpack and then rustled though the contents. How much stuff did she have with her? How many days could she survive on what was packed? Perhaps it was her nature to always have a bag waiting, a means for an out, a spare set of clothes and a handful of emergency cash… With a hiss of the air brakes, the bus halted and doors folded open before her. She just stood there for a few seconds, her eyes reading over the phrase ‘exact change’ as if it had a hidden meaning; some kind of double entendre, written only for her. If she got on this bus it would do just that, it would exact change in her life. It would be a choice that she wouldn’t necessarily return from. “Lady, on or off…” “Huh..?”
“You on, or off?” the driver barked. Her head turned back toward the park, the direction of the school, and the boy who’d managed to, in one day, lift and then stomp on her heart.

Laurie had flinched when the girl awoke. Her body tensing and her face shutting itself off, like she was awaiting some sort of attack on her. But nothing came, no the girl fell back down. Seems Nori did it. Her shock was really to much for the girl. Which well, in the end was a good thing, it meant they could get her back to the school without a fight.
She turned back to beam towards the others but something was missing. Most of them were missing. Kevin took off, Nori took off, Jay took off...meaning it was only Josh and Laurie to handle this. It was going to be hard to get the girl back to the Institute. "Oh no." she said softly as she watched them off disappear. Her eyes scanning to Josh with a meek smile. " I guess it's up to us." her voice was soft and she sighed just a bit. It was going to be tough to not get stares from people.
Her hands moved to grab the girl by the underarms but she stopped. Jay was back, thank God, and he lifted the girl off the ground. Flying her there. " Thanks Jay! We will meet you back at the school!" was all Laurie could shout before turning back towards Josh. " There's never a dull moment in our lives." she laughed gently before ushering him with her. " We better head back."
They were on their way, until something caught her eyes. Sofia was sitting alone against a tree trunk reading. " Hey Sof! Do you want to come back to the Institute with us? There was some fight and Kevin might be hurt and this girl might even be hurt worse." there was indeed never a dull moment in their lives. She waited for the girls response before moving off back towards the institute again. When another thing caught her sights. Nori, she was getting on a bus. This wasn't good.
They were quick and they reached Nori with good measure too. " Hey Nori. Where are you going?" Laurie's face said all that she felt. Like a girl who wore her heart on her sleeve, she was concerned and worried. Where it was she had a feeling Nori didn't want to come back. And that wasn't good, Laurie didn't want to loose her friend to the world just yet. " And why are you going?"

Eyes scanned X23, the woman didn't care for children who come here under such odd cercumstances... but this one was another choice... because this one... would be with Kevin. Kevin... was on the Hellions.
Eyes turned down to paperwork that was filing from a printer. Her foot tapped some before she huffed. She could've done this by had already and it would have been done! Taking a deep breath and sighing, she just continued to remind herself that her patience was the reason she had once been so high on the corporate food chain. After a few calming breaths her eyes turned back to X-23.
"You need to fill all this information out... Name, What you were known by, Age, Parents, Powers, Reason for coming... well that one is quite obvious now, isn't it... there is information on each team we have here... it is your choice on which one you'd like to go to..." she turned some and typed more on her computer. Her mind began to probe X-23's while she kept the girl busy. The name Rice kept coming up more and more... she typed it in the computer... It seemed X thought Emma reminded her of a woman- Sarah Kinney, and this Rice.... interesting. Then she saw the mental bar that X-23 put up, blood seeming to drip from it. She hated telepaths.
Exiting her mind she continued to do a search for these names... and how this little girl would know anything about them... "When you're done with the paperwork... I'll give you a room, and the team you wish to be on, I'll inform them of your addition."

Her eyes scanned the room and every inch of it. Like a theif or a agent would, she marked any area that showed signs of weakness. Whether for what she wasn't sure, it was just a habit of X's. Making sure you can find ways out if you are ever trapped, make sure you can find ways in, that was how she was trained.
She watched this woman slide papers to her. And she narrowed her eyes just a bit, when watching this woman. Then her mind set to the papres and grabbing a pen, she filled them out...'Name...Xevannah. Kinney..What you were known by..X23..Age..15..Parents' X had to stop there and think. Parent's', she didn't have parents, at least not the way everyone else thought of parents. But she figured she might as well put the closest thing she had to one. 'Sarah Kinney. Powers...Healing factor..heightened sense..claws..Reasons for being here..Because Kevin asked me to be. Because of Loyalty'she took her sweet time filling the paper out that was for sure. She had never done any sort of paper work before and well, she didn't really like it now. Something about it felt like you were handing your self over to the people before you. But she trusted this place, because she trusted Kevin.
When she was done, she slid the sheets back along the desk and towards this woman. Her face turned from a rather calm look to a grouchy sort as her eyes once again narrowed at the woman. Something about her...she felt like she was invading her in some way. Like that woman they called Rachel. But she really didn't know if it was the same thing. Maybe it was the way she held herself or stared at her, like she was trying to read this closed and sealed book. "I wish to followed Kevin." was her blunt and quick answer when she sat back in the large chair.

Eyeing the paperwork, Emma nodded then began to type the information in the electronic file. The girl had... interesting handwriting that was for sure. It seemed as if she hadn't used it in a long time. Sad really, but she would now... she would be working and schooling.
"I'll have you placed in the classes Kevin is in.... in order to have help if needed with your school work.... you will also be placed on the Hellions... your unit suit will be taylored for you... I'll have it Kevin goes with you, we need to get his together as well.... and well there is a room next to Kevin's that is vacant... you can have that one. If you have any clothes or anything, you may bring them back and set your room up to your liking..." After that she was silent and typed. She had notice the girl sat down like before.
Turning slightly, her eyes scanned Xevannah. "You can go now Xevannah... everything will work out and I'll contact you and Kevin when the taylor is here..." Turning again, Emma began to type away.
