She nodded every once in a while to the woman. Silent as she ever was. And then, when she was excused she moved from the room ad out into the hall way again. Her eyes scanned the area, it was time for her to do her best. To scope the place out. She tracked every inch of the halls, every room she was allowed or could get into. Even some she was not supposed to be in. The Cafeteria, the Library, the Main hall. Everything she looked over. She watche students look her down before going off to their places, their classes or anything else. Most were coming back with uniforms on. Probably some sort of training they had just finished. The bell tolled and she covered her ears slightly with a wince.
X would get her things later, as of now she was to busy getting used to her new surroundings. When she was finished all she could, she set her sights on the Cafe. But not after grabbing the book of Pinnocio she had purchased earlier. In the Cafe she set herself up at a table. But not bef oregrabbing some sort of food.
Slowly she took her seat, in the corner away from everyone else. Slowly she ate the apple she had grabbed. And she patiently ignored the snivels of everyone else around her. Pointing, speaking. Most didn't like her, not only because of who she was, but because of what she did. " She attacked Nori.." " For no Reason" " Kevin almost killed her" " How did she survive his touch?" she didn't care, she never really did. Her head slunk down and she rested against the table. Staring out before her, quiet, still. She would not be social, not now anyways, perhaps not ever. She would read this story, again and again and not pay attention to anything or anyone. She reached into her pocket once and pulled out a letter, a long letter and placed it in the book for safe keeping, along with the scrape page from her original story.

The driver was getting impatient. He leaned on the wheel as he asked Noriko again, “Come on lady, on or off…” She stepped though the door, reaching into her pocket for some change just as her ears perked up to the voice outside. It was hard to hear Laurie’s soft tenor over the rumble of the engine, and the hiss of the air brake releasing pressure. With a false smile, Nori sucked in all the emotion she was struggling with, and leaned against the stairwell railing feeding dollar bills into the machine as she answered. “I got something I gotta go do.”
Metal gloved fingered the soft bills carefully as she fed the last one into the receptacle. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll be back in a few hours,” she lied. A broad smile worked over her lips, as she saluted to the blonde with two fingers and then made her way toward the back of the bus. The doors slipped shut and the airbrakes let up again, rolling the vehicle as the Asian mutant sat down in an empty seat.
Her head pivoted to the side briefly to glance at Laurie, then returned to attention as her smile faded to a sullen mask of emotionlessness. The way her brain was shutting down, angrily stuffing down the emotional connections to her student body, severing the ties and moving onto the next place… It was as if Professor Logan had left a residual energy or mentality on her. Perhaps that was what X23 had sensed along with the aroma of Wolverine, perhaps Surge naturally emitted a similar pheromone or energy pattern that a wild creature like x23 instinctively recognized and reacted to. She dug out the small walkman, fingering the tiny headphones into her ears and depressing play, drowning her inner monologue with pumping techno music.
The ride was a little over an hour, and where she got off was less to be desired. It had atmosphere, but nothing that welcome, this place has all the hard edges, this place was the rough spot… the sour note… the knife’s edge. The driver never questioned, never argued her choice of destination, he just gave her a look of concern and spoke a few words of encouragement. “Take it easy miss…” “I intend to…” she retorted, moving off the stair.

The form of the girl was shrouded in mystery to the people on the bus, she wore nothing but a large overcoat with a hood... all made of a special synthetic material that wouldn't rip, and was quite heavy. Her body seemed to barely move throughout the entire trip on the bus... but she knew they were waiting for her there... Emma Frost was waiting.
However, as she watched and waited... she saw what she had come to expect... the large Mansion and some of the student body playing outside. Blue orbs blinked before they inwardly smiled. However... someone new came on this bus, just as she was about to get off. The girl sniffed some, to see if she knew her before looking up, she didn't. However, she did know a few of the scents on her. Taking another sniff, she could tell this girl was still going through puberty, so she must be about fifteen or so... a student.
This kept the girl on the bus, kept her waiting to see if the girl would get off sooner or later. However, much to her dispair, later was the key. Sniffing again, her nose crinkled as the air became thick and musty. Not somewhere most would like to be. However, this was where the girl got off, and this is where she would too.
Exiting the bus through the rear doors, the hooded woman followed the girl, however turned down a seperate alleyway and discarded the hood. Her long sharp tendrils dug into the side of the buildings and she began her ascent, climbing to the roof in order to follow this girl.

Her arms hugged her frame as the sun began to sink behind the buildings. Wind scattered loose debris and paper across the street like dead leaves or the tumbleweeds in a Wild West movie. Her eyes of eyed azure flickered to the alleyway and the unmarked door that in all this time hadn’t changed. A gloved hand knocked against the reinforced metal, and then she waited. Leaning against the rough bricks she waited for what seemed an eternity until the door finally creaked open and her ears fancied they heard a weapon being cocked. “Nani yatten' do yo?” (What the fuck are you doing?) hissed the shadow. “Koko de nani yatten' da. Hayaku usero!” (Get the fuck out of here!) He went to slam the door in her face, but the young mutant leapt forth with a burst of unnatural speed and grabbed the door before it shut, feeling the metal encasing her fingers dent slightly with the impact. “Oi! omae no kamisan to yatteiru tokoro da ga nanika monku akka!” (I’m going to go right on fucking standing here until you tell me where I can find Bender! Now, do we have a deal or do we have a problem?”
Her fingers sparkled as her eyes narrowed.
He backed off, letting her inside without further incident. She walked in though the dim, smoky room, which was hot enough to bake a ham, with the bodyguard half a step behind her. Bender was there alright, she recognized him at once, as he did her. “Surge… long-time-no-see… You been out of town?” he smiled, lifting his boots onto the coffee table. “Yea, something like that…” she said with a low voice. “Well, come on… don’t keep your old buddy Bender in suspense… what can I do for you?”
“I just need to relax a little,” she sighed, “unwind… just stress, you know.”
“Don’t I always fix you right up babe? You just try to keep your head screwed down and I’ll see what I can do for ya...”
He vanished into another room for a few minutes, leaving her feeling exposed, and uncomfortable with the muscle. Every now and again her eyes would glance up to his stone face and then down to the floor. Finally Bender returned. “Here ya are babe, hope this gets you though this rough patch. What’s with the arms? – Gotta admit if it’s kinda sexy. You know if you wanted to work off this little exchange with something else…” he coaxed tucking the packet into her hand and then caressing her cheek with the other. Nori made a face, her smile tight and nervous. “Not today Ben, I got money…” Surge dropped a wad of bills onto the table. ”Hey… can’t blame a guy for trying, but the offer still stands, money or not.”
“I’m cool man thanks…” she backed up bumping into the bodyguard with a little stutter of her voice. Sidestepping she continued to ramble. “Thanks for the hit… I know my way out…” With that she turned and left, the metal door slamming behind her, her back to the wall, breathing hard her heartbeat in her throat.

The creature... the woman watched as she entered the room... the smell of opium and haze just clogged her nose. So This is how they watched their students now? She thought with a huff before silently moving across the roof and down the side in a few leaps. Her movements were stealthy, like that of a jungle cat.
Sometimes she wished she could talk... wished she could communicate with others. Her breathing slowed as her body seemed to bring the shadows with her, eyes that once were a dull glow, enhancing as her body sucked in the lights energy. From what Surge could see, were probably a dark looming figure and two glowing blue orbs.
She moved quietly before stopping, almost about to attack the woman who had the institute's trust... she would have hissed if she could have. She would have growled. But no, Penance is mute, and will always be mute. Her body leaped towards the other girl, animalistic speed being used as she grabbed her gauntlet with her halfway bound tendrils and eyed the girl.
Her mouth formed the word 'X-man' before she sneered towards the girl. Her eyes looked her up and down before snaking a hand around her and using her force to keep Surge pinned against the wall. Another word formed in her mouth, but nothing came out, 'Trust'. After that she snorted before pulling away from her and crouching low to the ground, eyeing the girl before her with distaste and almost hate.

Her form bent forward just a tad as she shuddered off the moment of feeling cheapened, feeling like a whore. She half expected the door to open and for one of them to come out looking for her, but the last thing in the world she expected was to come face to face with what she did. Eyes penetrated the darkness before her, the sun had finally set, and this was more than she had bargained for. The fear that had moments ago been someone in the vicinity of a seven had just hit the charts around eleven.
“What the fu-” the last bit of her word was halted abruptly as this thing reached out and with one deft move slammed her back against the bricks. It mouthed “X-Man” to her, an unmistakable word. It knew what she was or at least what she was training to be… but then it mouthed “Trust” …was it an X-Man? Her fear snapped back a step or two once it let go and narrowed its glance at her. Suddenly Surge was aware of herself again, the alley didn’t seem, so small, and her leg was shooting out on a reflexive maneuver into the side of Penance’s knee.
While it was momentarily disabled, Surge had pulled up stakes and found the energy to burn. It wasn’t hard. Her body and mind were so worked up at this point it would take a lot more than that to drain the buildup. The walkman at her side fizzled and cracked to bits, falling out of her pocket in a lump of plastic and metal, her figure was out of the alleyway and running down another in a flash. Metal covered fingers worked into the openings of the chain-link fence as she climbed; this slowing her down a little because of the bulkiness of the gauntlets. Ungracefully she flopped over the top, landing in a heap of trash and getting up with a groan. She’d banged her knee up pretty bad and she could already feel the bruise behind the scraped skin beginning to pulsate.

The quick attack wasn't expected, yet it should have been... she did attack this girl at least. And well... for all she knew, this girl was already high. A snort exerted from her form as she got up from her fallen state almost as quickly as the girl moved. However, she was gone in a flash-but one thing Nori didn't know... Penance already could tell where she was going.
She was running now, on two legs, instead of four-she had been taught how humans walk, and that was on two legs. Her form was ungraceful yet just as equally fast than if she was on four. Penance could tell where this girl went, her scent reaked of power... reaked of fear. This was just making it so much easier for Penance. However, she hadn't been to far behind her anyway.
Following the brustled pieces of paper here and there... the trashcans that fell from her energy burst... well it was really easy. Her body shrugged slightly before she found Noriko climbing up the fence. Rolling her eyes-though one couldn't tell due to the fact she had no pupils nor whites in her eyes... she followed her towards the fence and the with a quick slash of her right arm, forward and back... a large opening appeared where the metal wires of the fence disappeared in a crumbling state.
She eyed the girl who sat in a heap of garbage... however she walked past the girl and to the wall nearby and scrapped clear words. "Stop Running... I'm here to take you back."

Nori backed hastily, knocking a glass bottle off into the adjacent wall, and then surprisingly the red-skinned mutant passed her and began to carve something into the wall. She read the words with little effort, and then her head lowered for a moment as she couldn’t make eye contact with Penance. “I don’t want to go back there,” she explained, furrowing her eyebrows together and shaking her head.
She paused looking at Penance and trying to work out what the thing was projecting at her. Perhaps the words she found for explanation were just the rationalization she was telling herself but the defensiveness came anyway. “I’m not running, I’m just … I’m just taking a little break from all the bullshit drama crap. Is that too much to ask for? Can’t a girl take some time off from being resident doormat at mutant high without getting the brute squad after her? Jeeze... you’d think the Brotherhood were attacking or something.”
Blue-white eyes faded rolled skyward. She leaned against the part of the fence that remained intact and tried to play this off coolly. She wasn’t about to confess what she’d just bought, but to give in and go back to school would surely get her busted…
“Look, Red just go back and tell em I have something important to go do ok? See… look I’m fine," she held her arms out, palms up face giving a “what gives” expression. #nosmileys

She huffed and shook her head... this girl was so lucky and she didn't even know it. Eyeing the girls pockets she twitched her nose. The instant she did that, her hands went to the wall behind her and carved 'Drugs... you have them.' Jaw clenched tightly, yet with a diamond hard visage, you suppose you couldn't ever look like you weren't clenching your jaw.
Hmphing some, yet the girl would here no noise. The comment about doormat was something she just shook her head to. Next to her last comment about drugs, she put. 'Try not being able to talk and touch people-you're their pet and weapon and personal listener...' Sure it might have been hard to read in the chizzled rock but she tried her best. She had gotten better at carving things and this was just too much.
Then she mouthed, "They didn't send me." Arms slowly crossed, claws dragging across her own skin-yet nothing happened, no blood, no scratch, just the sound of diamond on diamond. Equal to both extents... nothing happening. "Come back..." was all she could mouth before letting a brow raise. However, the term Red caught her off guard, and with a snear, over everything she had just wrote, she enriched it deeply by carving it nice and deep. 'PENANCE' over all else.

Nori’s jaw dropped at the carving of the word drugs. This thing knew what she had, and from the looks of what it was doing, it could probably smell them. “Alright yeah so, I have. If I come with you does that mean you’re turning me in?” Her head lowered, she knew this was the end of her education with the New Mutants. This was the final straw that would wind up getting her expelled from the university.
“Personal, listener…?” Nori echoed the words as Penance carved. “Look man I didn’t mean to dump on you… I just... I should just shut up. You’re right you’re absolutely right. You do what you want. Turn me in if you’re gonna. I know that I shouldn’t have even considered falling off the wagon. I… I just wasn’t thinking straight. I’ll come back and face the music, pack my shit if I’m off the team.”
With her shoulders slumped, the blue-haired mutant relented. The spark of electricity that usually urged to crackle up her arms wasn’t nagging. She felt physically and emotionally grounded. As if her conversation with Penance had somehow taken the spark from her. Soon enough the pair found themselves stepping off of another bus before the large iron-worked gate and walking up the drive. Nori’s head was still down, she hadn’t spoken much since the alley, and she knew, just knew that whatever she was about to face inside was going to take a lot more out of her then she could conceive.

Jay let himself be enveloped by his music, the sounds of the strings as he strummed. While little mind was paid attention to the mansion around him. He didn’t know how long he’d been out there, and frankly he didn’t care. Maybe he needed this time to himself. Maybe everyone did in one way or another. Each and everyone of them here had a mutant gift, which made them unique or stand out. Not to mention that the X-Factor seemed to appear in the time of life that was always the most difficult, even for normal kids. Being a teenager hitting puberty. Of course he was a little older than most here, not that he mind.
With a sigh he stopped playing, to look over the grounds of the mansion, that’s when he noticed Kevin making his way over. Jay shifted his weight to look down as the boy neared, shouting up to him. “Jay, I want to apologize for what I said earlier…” “Don’t.”
His voice didn’t hold any aggression it was just calm, simple, Jay. Wings spread as he lifted himself from the glass surface of the green house before feet touched down on the ground a few feet away from Kevin, back to him. Though chin turned slightly over his shoulder to look back.
“You’re right. I don’t know what it feels like to have someone die by my hands. But I know what it feels like to feel…to be responsible for that death.”
It awakened dormant feelings talking about Julia, talking about what happened. But he did feel responsible for it. “If…if I hadn’t been a mutant…But that’s past. We can’t change the past.”
Only if he hadn’t been a mutant, he would have been dead. Well her father wouldn’t have tried to kill him, which resulted in Julia’s death. Because he was a mutant he lived, he couldn’t even take his own life to join her and it cut deep into his soul to know that. To know that if he hadn’t been who he was, she’d still be alive today. Her smile, her bright eyes. Jay had to stop thinking about it, about her, head turned away as a pair came walking up to the gates. It was Noriko and someone else cloaked, and Nori looked almost in a bad way. “Nori?”
For a moment she felt as if she were wrong... she shouldn't have reacted in the way she did... but that was the past and she did. As the pair got on the bus... Penance continued to seem to look foreward, however, she was concentrating on this girl... the girl who could see she did something wrong. Sighing she slowly began to dig into the seat in front of them with her fingertip... writing softly. "I won't tell.:."
She was happy she was able to bring this girl back... however she felt bad for snapping on her, in her silent way. And unaudible sigh escaped her mouth as they got off the bus. The two were walking slowly, that's for sure, towards the gates... she cloaked and Nori limping from the fall off the gate.
Eyes were scanning from the darkness of the hood... however she could only turn the other way as the other students seem to try to talk to Nori. She promised she wouldn't tell... Penance never broke her promises to people. Now, she would just have to find Emma and explain why she was late... oh shit.

Laurie watched the bus take off with the most sad of expressions on her face. She was worried about her friend and somehow she didn't think she was planning to come back at all. Deep down she had a very bad feeling about that. Josh on the other hand assured her of Nori's capabilities to take care of herself and make big girl decisions so she sighed gently and continued on with the pair back towards the school.
She was miserable the rest of the time though. Even if she could fake a smile as quick as she could wipe it away, she still had Nori on her mind. Taking care of herself or now, she worried about the girl. Nori was her friend, and she didn't want to imagine her friend's in danger. She hadn't been to the pond lately to reflect by herself but right now she felt like it. When they got back to the mansion, Jay and Kevin were standing out side. Jay! He was great at advice and knowing what to do in the toughest of situations.
Quickly Laurie moved towards Jay and her voice was almost quick with the mixture of concern and desperation. " Jay! Nori..I think shes..I think she's gone...and not coming back..Or well, not planning on it." he had a keen way of helping anyone. But Laurie spoke to soon. She heard Jay's voice say Nori's name and she turned quick to rest her eyes on the blue haired girl. Thank God she returned! She rushed over to her with a smile as bright as the sun on her face.
"Nori! You scared me so much! I was afraid you weren't coming back." only now did Laurie see how foolish her thoughts her, her instincts and their falseness. Slowly though the pair of blue eyes turned towards the girl beside her. A brow raising slowly as she moved to stand firmer and straighter beside Josh.." who..who who's that?" her voice was meek and soft and she was curious none the less, but this girl seemed different. And she wasn't sure if she was on the good side or the bad.

Josh was replaying the events of the day back in his mind, Kevin had lost it again. It was hard enough to trust him after the first time but now, he sighed heavily. Laurie was his friend so he'd be nice but he was worried. And then everyone had sort of gone their own ways splitting from each other. it wasn't until later that night back at the mansion they were all together again, sort of. Josh had gone after Laurie when she told him Nori had taken off and she went off to find Jay.
In someways Josh wanted to talk about what was going on between them. She'd become more talkitive, but he still had some feelings for Rahne. Why did things have to be so complicated. He stopped as he found here by the angel and Kevin. Moving up he looked to the other boys, over hearing Laurie retell her worries to Jay. But just as that was happening Nori walked back onto the grounds with someone else, his brow quirked before he stepped up besides Laurie looking over to Kevin. "Hey man...your still pretty banged up, you want a heal or somethin? I can do it ya know, I don't mind." then he looked back to Laurie with a shrug. "I don't know Laur."

Laurie eyed the woman closely. For some reason she made her nervous. She couldn't point out why but it was just something. She was scary really, those long claws they could probably kill anyone in a second. But she didn't want to kill anyone...right?
She listened to the responses from everything and her hand only tightened a bit more against Josh's. This was getting pretty uncomfortable. And it seemed Nori was good and well and back on the force. Maybe Laurie just assumed to quickly right? Suddenly her attentions turned to Josh as she turned to face him. " Hey Josh... come on I want to talk to you about something." she pulled him gently along with a smile. Trying to get away from the small crowd that had suddenly appeared.
While they walked, she kept his hand close and gentle in her own hold. This was all like a dream come true lately, the past few days and perhaps the last week, she couldn't count but everything was just so fantastic. Her mother was so happy for her as well which made Laurie even more estatic. I mean, how many girls get the guy of their dreams right? Not many that was for sure. But Laurie was one of the lucky few, the blond skinned boy was her knight in shinning armor, and the meer thought of it all made her heart flutter and fly away. She continued to talk to him softly as they disappeared from sight back towards the Institute. " Mom was wondering if you wanted to spend a weekend there. I mean...you know..have some home cooked meals, go on a trip into the City, maybe to the theme park. You know, spend a weekend away from the Inistitute" she seemed to grow shy, as her cheeks slowly heated to a pink hue. Her eyes turning down with a small smile on her lips. " I mean...you know..have fun.. away from all this...become normal for a short time."
