Her body twitched... she felt all their eyes on her. She shuddered slightly before turning towards the school. She hadn't lied to that, Noriko. No, she hadn't. She wouldn't say a word-in her mind, nothing happened. However, if anything would go wrong again, Penance and Noriko would have another meeting.
As they continued to walk, the group began to grow-soon there were five people there. Too many for her taste. Pulling the heavy cloak off her frame, the woman wrapped in the black leatheresque straps. She stood tall, tendrils for fingers and toes... even her hair seemed to be long spikes. However, unlike most there (save for the golden boy) she was a different hue, she was a dark red, which seemed an odd offset compared to the pale flesh of the others.
Sighing some she shook her head before walking away, upright like most others... she was possibly 5'11 if not taller. She turned slightly, eyeing the group and Nori mostly. Now she just turned and walked away... she wasn't going to fit in here. She could see it now.

Kevin shrugged some. "I... I'm sorry I said it tho... I didn't mean to, I was just... angry..." Either way, Kevin felt like shit for saying what he said... but at the same time, Jay had no clue-even if it was his fault things that happened, did. He was only able to sigh before turning.
"Nori!" his ears picked up Laurie's scream and he ran off with everyone else to see if the Asian was alright. Of course she was, but there was someone with her... someone strange that even scared him. She wore the same type of clothes he did-but hers... her were different, wrapped around her and bound. She looked like a new century Edward Scissor Hands. In a way, Kevin was scared and confused, just like everyone else.
"Nori, are you alright?" she looked banged up... but she wouldn't even look his way... his head hung before he turned and laid his eyes on the knew person, girl? His brow arched before walking away.
Who was this girl. His brow arched before he remembered something-rather, someone. In a whispered tone he whispered the girl's name. "Xevannah..." just as he was about to turn, he heard Josh's kind, but rather annoying offer to heal him. "Josh... I'm fine, i'll heal like someone who's normal for a change..." obviously Kevin was in a bad mood... and he needed to say sorry to someone else now.
Turning, he just shook his head, forgetting about it at the time before taking off towards the headmaster's quarters. Before he hit there, however, he heard people conversing about the strange new girl that didn't belong. He stopped, gloves on, and grabbed one by the arms. "Where is she?" obviously this kid was a telepath, he knew just what he meant.
"The caffiteria..." he muttered before pulling himself away from Kevin and running down the hall. Kevin didn't need that boys powers to know that he was going to be in trouble, again.
"Great..." he muttered before running towards the cafe, only to find Xevannah sitting at a table reading. He smirked, settling down and eyeing the book. "You really love that book don't you, Xevannah?... Well come on outside, I'll introduce you to everyone else on the team? C'mon."

She knew she was going to have to face everyone when she came home, but seeing so many of her peers at once was too much for her to bear. A quick glance was offered to each of them as they all convened on her. “I’m fine I just needed to get away fro a little while and think. Thanks Josh, but I think I just want to take a shower and spend some time alone if you guys don’t mind. Excuse me.”
Her eyes were brown, without the usual charge of energy that ran though them. With her shoulders slumped Nori walked past her friends, carrying the weight of her mistake and the weight of her prosthetics without much strength. The fight was out of her, she’d effectively put herself on an outside plane again, and she wasn’t sure if any of them would understand or take her back into the fold if she confessed what she had almost done.
As Wither called out to her she didn’t look up, she just lifted a metal encased hand in a gesture that said ‘stop’, and continued on. She took the back stairs to avoid the heavy traffic of the main path to the dorms. Her door slammed behind her, and she ripped the metal gloves from her arms and tossing then aside on her path to the bathroom. She didn’t bother to take her clothes off, she just stepped into the stream of water and sat down, hugging her knees to her chest as she let herself cry.

She was very content in her reading. So far she had read the book through over and over again, a whole 17 times straight. Time sure did fly when you did something you enjoyed. But this book, to X it meant more than just some wild fantasy story, it meant alot more. More than she could ever express.
"Please make me a real boy." she read the words aloud. Almost so hushed it was hard to hear. But she managed it, and if you were close enough you could have heard it too. Her mind and attentions were so fixed on this book that she didn't notice anything going on around her. Her mind was closed off to any sort of worldly destractions. It was odd really, that the perfect weapon could so in a single instinct become the weakest. In a heart beat a story could change the girl from what they wanted her to be, to what she was to be.
"You really love that book don't you, Xevannah?" the familiar voice of Kevin suddenly invaded her mind. And all her sense became alert again. Causing her head to slowly turn and those bright green eyes to rest on him. They were so very calm and relaxed that the girl she seemed only earlier in this day was not the girl she was. That ever present slight smile that made her seem almost robotic and not really there was present on her lips. It was the only emotion she really ever showed besides anger. It was the only semi emotion she knew how to show.
She nodded slowly to that question finally and her body shifted a bit side ways. Allowing him to see the old ripped out peice she had had since that night she left. Underneath it was another letter in Sarah's hand writing but no one ever really say that letter. No one really cared about it but her. " Sarah liked this story." she said almost to calmly before she shut the book and stood. "Ok." her answers were always to the point, short and sometimes sweet. So, she moved around the bench and followed Kevin to where ever he would lead her. Wondering if maybe this was such a great idea...but not really caring enough to voice anything.

She clutched the book almost tightly in her hand, it was precious to her, in fact she was certain it was a favorite from now on. She slipped passed the iron gates and back onto campus, her stride casual, her mind unknowing of anything that had transpired inside the place she now almost affectionately called home.
Pausing just inside the foyer, Sofia smirked as she eyed the door, closing it softly with a small brush of wind and then headed for her room up the grand staircase. Around her students lingered, some talking others moving about. It was odd to her how she could feel this place was like a home to her when it often more resembled a high school. But she coolly remembered that nothing has ever made perfect sense in her life and why should this be any different.
Turning off to the left, her hair dancing behind her, Sofia made her way down the girl’s wing of the Mansion, most of the area quiet save for the few stereos blasting various types of music that was occasionally passed. Finally she reached her room and slipped inside, grateful she hadn’t ran into anyone, well grateful she hadn’t seen Julian all day, the boy who wouldn’t take no as an answer. Setting her book on her bed, Sofia turned and left the room in search of fellow team-mates to see if she had missed anything during her little outing.

James Hudson Jr, never really knew his father. What he knew was only brief memories from his childhood, before his death. His mother had told him he’d been part of a team, that had super humans amongst them, though his parents weren’t carriers of the X-Gene. The gene which gave mutants their abilities that made them more than human. To be the leader his father had a suit. Jamie had seen it plenty of enough times, his mother now even wore a modified one in his wake.
Eyes watched the landscape go speeding by as the cab drove towards Westchester New York. With a sigh he propped up his chin with his hand, he could still remember the day. By then he’d grown up enough to help his mother when she was upgrading the suit she wore to fight in. That’s when they found out…
“James dear hand me that cup link.” He was use to this helping his mother out, he’d started helping her when he was thirteen, now in a few weeks he’d be seventeen. The upgrades, modifications, repairs. All of it. And he enjoyed doing it. It was times like this that he could sometimes find out things about his father. This time there wasn’t any talk about his father, a boy in his econ class had been run out and terrorized because he was a mutant. “Hey, mom…were you and dad ever threatened for being, you know…mutant sympathizers?” He could tell she was trying to think of just the right words to tell him, to say to him, when there was a spark of electricity through the suit. One of the suits gauntlets fired off a pulse beam, it all happened so fast he couldn’t even react.
Heather Hudson had jolted up after the shock, to watch her only son hit by a beam from the suit she wore, a suit her husband once wore. The horror in her eyes as the thought came into her mind, she was going to watch him die just as she had her husband. Jamie on the other hand saw everything differently. Felt it differently. He stood still, but felt the impact, the burn of the blast. Then as if something was being pulled away from him, breaking contact. Hands felt his chest, it felt solid to him but slowly he turned around. If he had flesh he would have gone white.
There with a smoldering hole through his chest, was himself. Was he dead. Connected still someway to this plane. Phantom body felt the distortion as his mother ran through him to his flesh body. “James. Jamie! No!” “Mom…mom!”
It didn’t seem like he was getting through, like it was a barrier around him. She couldn’t feel him, see him, hear him. It scared James. He was still too young. What he watched next scared him even more. From the cauterized flesh it started to disengaged into nothing. Slowly at first, then quicker until it was ash, then nothing at all. He felt like he wanted to throw up, he could feel stomach heave but there was nothing inside.
When his mother started crying he went to her, to comfort her or try to. Maybe to say goodbye, he wasn’t sure. He didn’t feel dead, then he’d never died before, maybe to the dead it still felt as if you were living. As hands reached out to touch his mother’s shoulders, he could think of only one thing. Hugging her one last time. It caused another effect in him. His structure. His being. Bones started to form from fingertip to metacarpals to wrist bones and on up like people doing the “Wave” at a baseball game. As each bone developed red stringy tissue started to wrap around, then veins and finally skin. In a matter of moments he was flesh and blood again. He yelled out from the pain of re-growing his body, his mother screamed as he came back into existence.
“Mom, what’s going on…what’s happening. Am I dead? Am I alive?”
Backing away James looked almost horrified at what was happening. Hands were held up as he looked over his body. This time he felt a new sensation, that of decay as his right arm from the elbow down became nothing, leaving him seeing only a ghost form of what had been there. Other parts of him started doing the same. Then as quickly as they vanished they would grow back. Each time it hurt like hell. Until finally half of him vanished. By that time Heather realized what was happening to her son, he was a mutant. Just like his father, his birth father.
---
“James, are you all right?”
It was now two weeks later and they had managed to figure out partly how to keep him fully fleshed, though there were till bouts of the not yet controlled power where he went phantom. “Yeah. I’m fine…just a big move you know.”
The cab pulled through the gates of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. They’d spoken with Headmaster Scott Summers to get him enrolled and living situations. James exited the cab as did his mother, looking up to the large glass front doors. “Are you coming in?” “No. I’ve got to catch my flight back. I love you. Be good…and Jamie, Happy Birthday. I know it’s a few days early but, I wanted to give it to you before I left.”
“Love you too. I’ll call and email once a week, promise.”
“Behave, don’t get into trouble. And be safe.”
“I will.”
She hugged her son and got back in the cab, watching him until she could see him no longer. Somewhere within those walls, his real father might have been. The two might even met, never knowing the secret she kept.
Jamie tucked the small gift into his pack and pulled backpack on hoisting the large duffle bag up. There was something in his mother’s eyes before she left. Something about this place. He wasn’t sure. Another sigh and he trudged up the steps as the door opened up and he entered. A few younger students were messing around, not how they should have been as a few spikes went flying his direction. Most of the time his powers still worked on instinct and in barely a second body die, belonging dropped to the ground, contents of the smaller pouch of the backpack spilling over the ground. At least by now he’d learned how to focus enough to pick items up, and do things a physical body would being ghost. Items floated up and shoved back into the pack. Lifting it up he, resurrected himself, as he liked to refer to it as. And one of the rough housing boys knocked into his shoulder. “Watch where yer goin’ …” “Tch. You too hoser.” He muttered under his breath, ‘Welcome to your new home Jamie…’

Cess didn't bother going to the Grind Shop today. Nah, to much to do around the mansion. She had a project to finish up for Miss Pryde, and one other for McCoy. Ok, so she was not the best at getting things done in time, in fact she was a procrastinator to the tee. And it was going to be a long time till she was done.
It really wasn't that long anyways, she still had a few hours to kill and figured it was best to take a break. Clear her mind and get herself in order before putting the finishing touches to a paper she was supposed to write. Out in the hall there was alot of talk, alot of commotion. And in the thick of it all she heard Kevin yelling at the others about some girl. Curious, a brow rose and Cess peered towards this girl he was so protective of. Who was she? Why was she here? Cessily didn't have a great feeling about that girl. Not at all.
When she moved to grab something to eat from the cafe, she heard words being spread. Words about Noriko being attacked by the girl. More importantly about the girl attacking Kevin, and forcing him to use what he hated the most. Quickly hearing this, Cess dropped her jaw and sprinted from the room. She had to find him, had to make sure he was alright. Not because she liked him alot, but because he was her friend and team mate. And team mates and friends stick together and watch eachothers backs.
She found him easily enough. With the whispers around the place, it wasn't hard at all to discover he was in the front yard. And she moved fast. Out the doors, over the lawn and to the small crowd of people that had gathered. She didn't care that the New Mutants were surrounding him at all, she didn't care about them as she pushed her way passed Laurie and Josh and ended up facing Kevin. " Kev! I heard what happened, Are you ok? Did you get hurt?..You should go see Dr. McCoy or Mr. Summers to get her out of.." her words started to trail a bit as she stared at X-23, who was suddenly in her sights. The odd girl just stared at Cess, some odd expression on her face. " Hey..uh..what is she doing here? " Cess could feel her eyes narrow just a bit. No one attacks her friends and gets away with it.

His mind kept trailing and thinking while he walked from the cafeteria to outside again, but this time with Xevannah in tow. In a way, they were an odd coupling… both didn’t trust others too well, and both were deadly. However, they matched and they just walked in silence.
Exiting once more outside he found the group sitting down and eyeing the newest arrival to the team. This red girl was very secretive, but what he saw trailing from her cloak, scared him as much as Xevannah scared him. Unlike Xevannah, who had claws which extracted from her hands… this girl-creature… had claws as hands. A brow arched slightly before his head snapped towards Cess.
" Kev! I heard what happened, are you ok? Did you get hurt? You should go see Dr. McCoy or Mr. Summers to get her out of... hey, uh, what’s she doing here?” He saw Cess stare down Xevannah, which, as he knew, would not be good.
“Uh… Cess, this is Xevannah… she’s going to be joining our team… really she’s cool Cess, and I’m fine.” He continued to watch Cess give Xevannah hard looks, and his gloved hand reached out and grabbed Cess’ metallic chin. “Cess… she’s fine, and I’m fine… we’re all fine I swear.” He smiled some before letting go of her chin and walking away, X23 in tow, though the girl obviously continued to stare down the metallic woman behind them. “Cess… wanna join us for a walk?”

It was a silent walk along the halls. Silent as ever. X never really talked much, she was more of the silent type. Keep the thoughts and feelings in and never let anyone know what your going to do next. It was the way they trained her, it was what she was accustom to. Nobody would believe that now a days this X was way more open then when she was a kid. She never spoke then, they never told her to. She was their pet and she only did what they said, and pets don't talk.
It didn't seem odd the walk at all, in fact it seemed quite comfortable. Her head would every one in a while tilt and turn so she could study the area. She was always calculating and stradegizing weaknesses, in buildings and in people. When they reached outside, she stopped for only a split second to watch the kids on the basketball court. They seemed to be having so much fun, laughing, yelling, arguing and playing. She had seen kids playing once in the city, some youngsters, but she never joined. She was content enough with watching how others interacted.
Finally when they met up with the group that was sitting down, she could recognize the seemingly shocked and bewildered expression on their faces. Apparently they couldn't believe either that Kevin was hanging out with the girl. Acting as if they were close best friends. It only seemed normal, they were so alike yet so different.
Xev only looked at the red skinned woman for a second. But she looked at her hands more. She stared and saw the claws that were present, the razor sharp edges that never went away. X could feel her nerves growing, she was always that way with people who posed a threat. She may look calm and emotionless on the outside, but the inside held gears and instincts which wound and moved quickly.
She was not about to attack or anything, no it wasn't to that point, but when the eyes of another took over her form, she couldn't help but ignore the Red Skinned woman and turn to face the silver shiny one. She was offensive towards X. And Xev did not like it at all. Her eyes narrowed slightly themselves. She didn't want to hurt anyone else, but if needed be, she would lash out and destroy this girl. But before she could react in any way but the narrowing of her eyes, Kev moved to her. Spoke to her and then he went off, taking Xev in tow. As X followed Kevin, she couldn't help but glance back towards the girl. Who was she? And What was her problem?

Cess couldn't believe what Kevin was saying. This girl attacked him, attacked Nori and he's just going to let her waltz into his life and let him get all hyped up about her? Yeah, as if Cessily Kincaid was going to stand for that. The white eyes narrowed slowly as she spat dagers from her gaze, right towards X. It wasn't a secret that Cessily liked Kevin, and it wasn't just jealousy building up either, it was the fact that she attacked a Hellion, and if Kevin didn't understand by now that Hellion's stick together and always have eachother's backs, then she didn't think he ever would.
Her fists clenched a bit, but suddenly Kevin moved to her. He obviously saw the anger emitting from her, the hostility. When his hand took her chin, she stopped and seemed to grow wide eyes. Almost dreamy when the fair invisibly turned to stare at him. She listened to his words "Cess… she’s fine, and I’m fine… we’re all fine I swear." Cess suddenly began to cool down. " Alright..so she's part of the Hellion's now?" this was going to be awkward. But she would play it as if it was great. " Not that we need the help, I suppose it's cool."
Just when she was about to speak again, Kevin let go of her chin and was off, that strange new team member walking with him. So they were close, maybe she was reading this wrong? Maybe they were like Herself and Julian, like best friends and brother and sister. "Cess… wanna join us for a walk?", To be a third wheel or not? Hell someone had to look out for the chap. "Sure!" she said suddenly and enthisatically. Bounding off after them, she came up beside the pair and with a sudden beam looked to X." So what's your name? And why'd they put you with us? It's a great squad, you're going to like it. I'm sure we are going to win this year."

The heavy cloak made her twitch slightly as she pulled it off with an easy and quick snap of her wrist. Now she stood, as if straight out of a bondage fetish movie. Her body- from neck down to ankles, was bound in black straps, similar to leather, but unbreakable by her sharp edges.
She walked slowly, trying not to revert to the feral ways she had known for years. Walking upright was what she needed to do with this new set of mutants. Sure, she was older than most of them, around the age of 19 now... though that was a guess for most due to the fact of her being from another plane and not able to speak-as well as others invading her body. It was just not known. However, she did know one thing, from the time she did rememeber, she was older than these new mutants.
Stopping suddenly, her nose twitched, and pupiless orbs glared towards the newcomers of Kevin, Cessily, and X23. The one that made her stare was X-23. This girl seemed different, like the man she had met once before while she was with Generation X. Penance could smell the metal coming from within her. If she could make any sound, she more than likely would have hissed, but only a sneer could be seen.
Her fingers twitched and the sound of scissors closing and reopening filled the air before she turned and headed towards Emma's office.

Her eyes scanned the clock as she growled under her breath. Penance was now a few hours late and it was more than frustrating the always punctual Emma Frost. Her nails clicked on the desk as she waited impatiently for the redskinned girl that seemed to be enjoying frustrating the blonde.
Suddenly the scratches were heard at the door and Emma stood and opened it in a particularly huffy fashion. "About time you got here Ms. St. Croix. I have been waiting a few good hours for you and I do not appreciate this unnecessary wait you made me go through."
Emma watched at Penance rolled her pupiless orbs and moved towards the chair in which she purposely scratched the leather seat, causing stuffing to fly from every which way. Her body plopped into the chair and her eyes stared towards Emma's empty seat.
"Penance, really, was that necessary?" no answer, though she wasn't expecting anything from the mute anyway. "Well... we are going to have you as an assisstant advisor to the Hellion squad. You know what I like and what I do not like... so you will be in charge when I am not there... you got that?" Penance pounded her fist onto the desk in protest. "I don't care, that's what you were brought here for... would you rather go back with Monet?" Penance withdrew her hand and put her head down with a nod. "Good... I'll contact you with further information." With that Penance stood as did Emma. Letting Penance out of her office, Emma turned and eyed her furniture, "Thanks Penance..."

Her mind heard it once as they moved away. A sudden sting from what sounded like scissors or blades of some sort. This caused X to snap her head around as her fists tightened. She didn't like that sound, she didn't like the one it was coming from. Her eyes were on Penance again, but they never narrowed, never did anything but stared with that same odd lifeless expression she usually held. The red woman had turned then and was walking off in the opposite directions. Yes, it was final...X did not like her at all.
Turning her attentions back to the area they moved, she was almost rebotic in her placing. Every step slow and calculated. She hardly paid attention to anything besides the scenery. That was until the girl spoke to her, the other one who seemed not to like X. She had an odd scent to her, very metallic and soar because of it. A smell X could live without. Other than that she emitted little to no body odor. Kevin had his own, so did the electric girl and even the red skinned woman but this girls was raw...X would memorize it well.
Her voices was quick, the metal girl named Cess from what she came to understand. X's green eyes slowly flashed to the girl and she stared at her silently as they moved. Not answering anything, well at least not at first. It took a bit of time before she responded, for what reasons..Only X knew. And like always, her answers were short and sweet. " Xevannah.. and because I will only go with Kevin." That answer did settle well with the girl she could tell. Her scent had shifted just slightly. It had a slightly more soar note to it. But X could care less.

There was something different about Xevannah when Penance and Cess were around. His brow arched slightly, but he didn’t say much, he just held his gloved hand out to her to hold-for some reason, he enjoyed showing affection to Xevannah-he enjoyed it because she seemed to soften with him and only him. It made him feel special.
“Yeah she’s a Hellion… through and through. She’ll make a great addition to the team….:” his eyes just glanced to Xev for a moment, “but the temper just has to be worked on just a bit.” Shrugging a bit he watched Nori storm off once more and shook his head.
“Nothing seemed to go right today…. But in a way it did-and… for some reason, I think that… girl? That red girl… she’ll be with us too.” Kevin shrugged a bit and rolled his eyes as he started walking, followed by Xevannah and Cess. “So, what’d you do today Cess?”

Cessily watched as Kevin put his hand out to X, and she took it. Like two peas in some stupid pod. This was not fair...and the jealousy was beginning to rise. What wasn't fair? The fact that Cess felt awesome being the only one that Kevin could touch, but now he was holding this girls hand!? Oh man, she had to stay calm.
Smiling at the two, she lifted her arms and shrugged at his question. " I didn't do much. I was hanging out with Brian and Santo for a bit, but they get boring after a while. You know how that is." she laughed for a moment before trying to think even more about what little she got accomplished. " Did some research for a paper..uh..OH I went to the mall to get some new pants. And yeah, of course people tried to start stuff but you know me." she beamed a bit before finally again glancing back towards that red skinned woman. "She freaks me out..But I guess shes one of us so she's cool." was her only response before her eyes again turned to X.
"So, X, if that's want we are calling you....What's your powers? From the looks of it you don't have much but hey, I could be mistaken right. Tough I doubt it." she finished off softer then the previous statement. She had to tell herself it was just a friendship, just a friendly thing. But she was indeed curious on her powers. Since she took on the others after all. She must have had guts.
